Just a heads up, the uploaded version doesn't have the chapter 8 proofread English translation, as personal issues held me up. I wasn't able to get it to KN before the release deadline.
I'll upload the file here for anyone interested, but the game is archived, so you'll need to unren to apply it. Once unren'd, go into /game/tl/english and replace the file.
I haven't had a chance to fully test it, but it should work fine. If not, please let me know.

Kind Nightmares - There appears to be a bug that is preventing saves created in Chapter 7 from being loaded in Chapter 8 - it'll bring you to Chapter 7, give you the 'this is the end of the chapter' dialog, and then dump you out to the main menu.
As of right now, the only way to play Chapter 8 is to start all over again - which sucks. This wasn't an issue going from Chapter 6 to 7.

Must be something with your save.
Because I continue with the save I made at the end of chapter 7, and didn't get any issue.
I can't imagine what, because my Chapter 7 save was carried over from a brand-new Chapter 6 save.
I really don't want to have to replay the entire game - again.

Have you tried loading an autosave from near the end of chapter 7? Could also use your chapter 6 save, and then skip through chapter 7.
Yep, tried both the autosave and the manual - same issue on both: get the short scene of the MC getting whacked; the black screen and then the "go back and save, this is the end...".
I would go back to Chapter 6, but I honestly have no idea which save is just Chapter 6.

If the save loads, but the game still ends there, you're launching Chapter 7, not Chapter 8.
Go to the character bios, is Anna Grace listed? Because I believe she was added in Chapter 8. If she's not there, uninstall and re-download/re-install.

I still had the Chapter 7 folder; and while I did download and unpack Chapter 8; I wasn't paying attention to which folder I opened and ran from.
