All good points. Erynn is a weakness for him. An Erynn-lookalike means she could be the stand-in for his ultimate fantasy. It doesn't play out the way he wants and ends up killing her. That could certainly be the way it plays out. It also means the guy is a deeply damaged sociopath. The kind of behavior that stands out. No real friends. Evil wearing a human suit.
I think it is more likely that he would be surrounded by other guys and they all misuse Rachael. Ethan is a frustrated, weak piece of shit. His strength comes from the people around him and holding women hostage with cheap information.
Either way, Ethan being the culprit is sound. And makes for a good story.

Personally I believe the Rachel thing is a red herring. It was a robbery or something like that. I don't think it was Ethan, but maybe that's an simple exit way Nyx made for Erynn's blackmail problem. The police finds evidence, Ethan got arrested, Erynn's free.That's what Nyx said on that topic:
