I did't get you wrong, I just tried to tell that the good game of this genre shouldn't be too simple and carefree when it comes to relationships, love, feelings, etc in compare with real life. This aspect makes you feel that story is well written, believe in it and expect full range of emotions. Life is not only the comedy nor the tragedy or depression, it always something in between. And you are allowed to adjust the degree of where story is going for you personally, and choices/branches/conflicts are there to help you tune the story in one or another way. Like in interactive book.
There're no easy LI paths in Intertwined if you'll look better on whole story and from the MC perspective. So Elena's & Layla's part in story and choice between them is just a piece of the whole pie. If you think that some of the other choices are more easy - it's just your view and perspective, your own perception. And some parts of story is still not told to us to get us the whole picture. For example, we know nothing of Lexi in period between MC's last days in the city and up to current time in game universe. But at the same time it means nothing for Layla - in compare, because she is younger and her only major issue from the past is Lucas, up to this moment.
