We know that Emily and Melissa are apparently going to see a lawyer for advice on what to do in regards to Ethan. Any lawyer worth a damn will first tell them to go to the police as blackmailing someone like that is highly illegal.
The biggest problem with this is that it dismantles one of Nyx's main storylines without the necessary drama and characters being involved. So as usual I'm sure that we will have to suspend disbelief, which is usually required when playing AVN's
Besides we need the MC to be the hero who saves the day and gets the girl and the credit, not the police! Come on people!
This is the big issue, the logical thing to do is "just go to the police", even if Ethan doesn't get any comeuppance it would at least make Erynn safe and she would probably get a contract release from his dad's company...
But on a story like this is it becomes about "defeat the villain and save the princess".
I just replayed that part cause I was curious you are both right looks like a case I just miss remembered and made some bad assumptions. Yeah Erynn basically says it would be a huge scandal and that he knows her and the MC says he wouldn't risk his business because of Ethan and they want to find a way to prove everything Ethan is doing to his father / CEO.
So yeah looks like his father is a legit business man as far as we know and doesn't have have powerful connections like I assumed. Since if it was known he does they wouldn't be wanting to try to get proof for such a plan. That and they think he is trustworthy enough to bring such proof to him if they can get it. So I doubt he has a terrible personality like Ethan.
All we have is Erynn's opinion (and it doesn't seen like a opinion based on extensive contact)...
I think it's likely a guy in his position would be pissed at his son, but still not want him to go to jail and things like that... so the more "realistic" scenario with him would be a release from the company and some kind of settlement with a NDA... which again is a boring conclusion for this style of story about rescuing the princess.
I think the confusion with whether Ethan's Dad has connections is because we have all played too many AVNs so similar storylines merge into one. Other AVNs have definitely had the "can't go to the police because they've been bought off" storyline but I think Nyx has been consistent with Erynn not going to the police for the same reason she goes along with the blackmail, if she goes to the police then the tape becomes evidence, would likely be shown at Ethan's trial and become public knowledge, potentially stopping her from pursuing a teaching career.
That's true so many AVNs play the "powerful connected rich guy" angle that we end up associating lol.
Still something was bugging me and someone does bring it up(kinda), just not Erynn...
I'll sum it up to story and logistics for the next two updates, but if we're still doing this after that, then questions must be asked.
I too want to be done with this, just give Ethan some comeuppance and set Erynn free(tipically that's when the hero gets "rewarded").
To me creating intrigue/conflict between the girls is much more interesting than this plot where we all can see the holes...
But Nyx seems to want to take her time with this thing so yeah, no idea if it's gonna end soon.
