And the MC was friends with Erynn but not Ethan. Not a lot is explained about MC relationship with Alexis at the time.

I realize I am in the minority, but I am really happy that Emily is not an LI. I really like the Mother dynamic that she portrays and am just enjoying having a Mom in an AVN without the sexual tension present in most other games. Emily is lovely and caring and some of her conversations are awesome and the pure maternal love is really refreshing. It wouldn't be the same if one or the other or both was trying to have sex with the other.
