Damn lol the arguments/discussion on this thread are basically reaching supreme court defense levels lol personally i love this story, i love the twists and turns and that it is not just an "MC F**** all the girls and they are oblivious" type of game. There may be subtle issue here and there butni would imagine writing a script on this level is quite difficult and hats off to you NYX becaus imo you have done a damn fine job this far lol im honestly looking forward to the next addition to this story, i also had many paths laid out and i does suck i have to stary it over again but o well.. this game and "leap of faith" are probably my most favorite stories written in a visual novel type game.. and if anyone can recommend similar style stories im all ears!!
Keep up the good work on this and i cant wait for ch11! Btw this is not a bash of any sorts to those having discussions here, i actually love reading them and feel like i ki da learn some thi gs i may have missed along the way , this game it clearly held in a high standard for so many people to want to discuss it on this level!! Progress Update - Episode 11
Small update.
Not that much to communicate yet since It's still in the early stages.
Also still working on the first scene of this update and will do for at least a week or two more. It's a pretty lengthy scene, but that also depends on your status with certain love interests. It's also possible to skip that whole scene.
MC will have some inner conflict again, just as in ep9. I also just focus on 1 particular LI since it would be overkill to include every possible relationship MC's in. See the example between Alexis and Valeria in ep9.|
That's it basically. I'm mostly focusing on creating the renders for now and still debating which LIs will get content and who won't.

So I just looked it up, as the way I've seen people use it on the boards has always come across as "Any girl the MC might be interested in isn't a virgin and/or it's implied/shown she's with someone else". And that's bad, mmmkay?

It always comes across as someone having deep insecurities that they're unwilling to confront when they cry about it constantly. It's like that and "Is there incest in this game?" are the most brought up topics aside from "When is the next update coming out?"

I haven't played in a while, so not everything is fresh in my memory and I don't know if the rewrite fixed any of the issues.
We're told the MC was a shit-kid so to speak, but this isn't really reflected in his personality. Emily is immediately super happy to see him. Barely any dialogue to actually address the issues of the past. Only dialogue about the past.
Massive changes needed to have happened to the MC to change him this much over such a short period of time. I wonder if we're going to see any of it.
Emily and the real dad are framed as the good ones. But it doesn't make much sense:
- Emily sent MC away, because she couldn't handle him.
- Emily should be having some conflicting feelings about seeing him again and how she handled it.
- She should at least be surprised by his change.
- She should want to address the past.
Real dad:
- Quite the womanizer.
- Handsome.
- Fun.
- Handled the past with Emily poorly.
- Seems to be a bad husband.
Why are they framed as good people? Would at least suspect them to be framed as "Have become better people, but had a regrettable past".
I think the more egregious one is the step-dad though, he makes no sense to me whatsoever. For some reason he's presented as a complete asshole.
- He accepted MC as his son, even though it was clear that he wasn't his.
- He remained the father even after breaking up with the mum.
- He seems to be an OK step-dad to Nikki and Clara.
- He seems to be an OK fiance.
The incongruities:
- He hides his "new family" even though he has seemingly no reason to
- He cheats on his new wife-to-be, which is shitty. However this doesn't seem to align with his prior behaviour.
- He then punches the kid for calling him out, the kid he accepted and remained in custody off even though he had no reason to.
As such he is framed as the worst out of the 3 parents, but it takes multiple actions conflict with his prior established personality. To make it seem "reasonable".
I can't reconcile the framing with the reality of what we're presented. However, it's somewhat vague in my memory. So I might've missed some key details.

MC was a good kid until the Erynn "rejection", then he went off the rails and became a piece of shit. After time to get over Erynn (which wouldn't have happened while seeing her everyday living next door) he's gone back to being a good kid. Emily did the right thing by sending MC away, especially if she had found out the reason for him behaving as he was. Staying next door to Erynn he would have just got worse not better.
Not sure in what context you think the real dad has been characterised as a good person? We see he demanded Emily get an abortion and had nothing to do with Emily or MC when she refused. We don't see much else from him, he's not remembered especially fondly by Emily in her flashback from what I could tell.
As for Andres, yes he did well for MC standing in as his father. The question is his motivation for this, at first it appeared like he did it for Emily, but the speed of the deterioration of their relationship brings that into question. He also demanded that Emily never tell MC the truth about MC's parentage, even after their break-up, he couldn't refuse his parental responsibilities while making that demand so why he remained as MC's father in everyone's eyes is still unknown.
Hiding his new family may be directly related to the fact he was cheating on his new fiancee, he didn't introduce MC because he was playing the field and hadn't made up his mind who to be with, the question is why he decided to get married if he was not ready to settle down. From what we know from MC (who hasn't given us much information about his life with Andres) he wasn't aware of him having many girlfriends, but the likelihood is that he was just hiding them from MC (or hiding MC from them if he didn't want them to know he had a kid, not as much of an issue with a single mother).
I can actually forgive the punch to be honest (I'm in a tiny minority here I know), he was already mad at MC for sleeping with Nikki/Cara (depending on playthrough, obviously not a mitigating factor if sleeping with neither) then MC accuses him of cheating in front of his fiancee's daughter, making him more angry and he lashes out.
The problem with the contradiction is how little we actually know about him, he may have always had the short temper (I vaguely remember Emily mentioning it) so that's not against his characterisation. When MC sees Emily and Melissa kissing he gets mad and says that Emily was lying about the reason for her breaking up with Andres, suggesting that Emily had told MC that Andres cheated on her, but MC now believes it was Emily who cheated. So Andres' characterisation as a cheater was already there but only vaguely alluded to.

in my theory, Valeria´s mom was preggers from Santiago and his parents being friends with Val´s mom parents made it official!
so he was put in an impossible situation, and when his mother offered him an out he took it, just like most mommy´s kids!
Andres motivation, could be revenge. i suspect quite a few women do this, they marry dudes to get revenge on them and breaking them...
considering the logic of some divorces, totally feasible! some people are dark empaths who relish on such petty revenges,

instead of learning the lesson that they are not compatible, they go into the relationship learn to manipulate,
get married, probably have 2 kids, and then slam the hammer for shit 20 years in the past to destroy the man that no longer exists
taking away his money. house, kids life and totally ruining his good name over the most stupid reason as "i am no longer happy!"
as for your part of picking a single mother because he is a single father,... it proves he is considerate of the MC and a good guy!
i mean the MC is not far from adulthood, he could just kick him out at 18 but this way it proves he intends to keep the MC in his life!
the fact the MC as not known many girlfriends could totally be because the MC is a creep!

i had a ret con over this in a previous post! Andres can have tried to hit on Melissa several times over many years until Mel tells EM whats going on!
this latest motivation of making him a dark empath could also work, he married her to ruin her life but,
she had to open the restaurant while still with Andres!
you do not get that location and such success in the 4-5 years ever since the MC left,
thats at least a work of a decade! Andres being a corporate dude probably helped her opening up the restaurant
and keep her books balanced, particulary in the 1st years were its the hardest
and you need support including emotionally, particularly with a kid and someone to stay with the kid during the high season
were stress and overtime is a killer!

It actually does turn it into NTR If you don't help her but it's off screen if you don't help her while she's being touched up and slapped by Ethan she ends up giving in and having sex with Ethan.
He mentions it when you go with Zach just after Zach punches you I believe but at that point if you're not helping her you're a monster who doesn't like Erynn so it's not NTR to those people but it certainly would be to people who are completionists who wanna do everything even if it hurts them or a character they like.
