Actually, no, it was that the choice was made for me. It was a pop up dialogue that said I had to choose. Knowing now that this isn't a harem-type game, that now makes some sense.

A lot of the relationships trigger based on the number of points in the LIs path and most have some have *critical* moments that you'll want to do. If you don't want to enter a specific relationship, don't excessively flirt or choose more romantic choices, such as kissing. It's pretty easy, just balance flirtier options with neutral options. That'll let you selectively choose/avoid relationships.... if you want some assistance try the Walkthrough PDF, or if you are comfortable with the risks of modding Scrappy's mod on the OP that has built-in guides for choices.

And yes, some combinations of relationships already have some pretty heated/fiery moments.

Not for me, I always find it weird when they give a girl a trait to define them. "This LI isn't so popular so let's have her squirt in the next update and that'll be her thing."
Cara's wholesome but bland. I like anal but I'm not about to drop any other LI over it.

Nope. I was formulating a response to this in my head, but as I continued scrolling, the words just jumped out at me. jadepaladin got it spot on for me here:

She is nice, but just doesn't have anything special going for her (and anal doesn't suddenly give her anything special). I also find it slightly weird how different she and Nikki look. For me, Nikki definitely won that lottery. I would never look at the two of them and think they were sisters. Then you have (presumably) Erynn and Iris, with different fathers who almost look like they could be twins...

Back to Cara though, for me, she is getting better, although she's still easily at the bottom of the list. The anal has nothing to do with the getting better though, maybe it's just getting to know her a bit more (and the changed hairstyle). She still just feels a bit too young though, which the looks don't help with. Of all the LIs in the game, Cara is the only one who I feel comes across as potentially underage, as opposed to some of them being young but not given me the underage concern in the slightest. If you told me Cara was 16, I wouldn't question you at all.

I will say I did not expect to like Cara more from her anal scene I don't even know why I do. Cause it really isn't about the sex last thing I care about. Maybe because while she is rather boring character that doesn't have much going for her beyond being sweet and cute. The scene felt like she is stepping out of that shell and could start to act in a way that isn't boring and safe all the time . Not sure can't quite put my finger onto the why. But either way It did make me like her more but not enough to go up in ranks.

Indeed, plus most harem centric games don't really have the need for replayability since you can pursue every girl at once. They are usually one and done for me. With games like Intertwined however, i always find myself playing multiple times and making different choices each time and i get much more hours out of them. But i guess some people just like to rush these games just to see the sex scenes and move on to the next and don't really get attached to the story much, which IMO is a shame because a bunch of these games have great stories to tell

Yeah harem games are tailored for you to get everything in one go, and often the choices you get are only to skip certain scenes or certain girls, with no greater impact on the narrative, the opposite to this one.
Here i find myself replaying even for small dialogue differences, seeing how each character reacts to certain situations.
Small nuances are really well made here, i can go through many times probing for these small differences.

It's great to see how a girl reacts once she sees/know you are dating one of their close friends/family... it drastically affects their attitude, even if they are still enamored.
It feels real.

Just caught up with my main route, and those last few updates are really good. Alot of progress for a couple of storyline. At this point (well, since the beginning, since it's the whole goal to the game), it's pretty clear that each character will have a connexion with at least someone else during the game. With Brooke being Zane sister (I guess I was behind, it was probably 1 or 2 updates ago?), there's still a lot of remaining named characters that need to be paired:

Ethan, Valeria, Elena, Tori, Darryl, the teacher that the girls find attractive, the other dude that work for Emily, the henchman with Ethan that has a name (only one of them has one IIRC), Sienna and her boyfriend, the man who gave you the modeling gig (probably Ethan's dad? It would be dumb if Erynn didn't say anything but you never know), Dylan, the new barmaid... I'm probably missing some?

Also, I know it's a game you kinda need to turn your brain off because some moments are willingly stupid just for the sake of not revealing a twist right away (and I really don't mind it), but

Emily, John, Erynn... don't know that they live in the Intertwined universe where there are no such things as coincidences .

The teacher, Mr Donovan, is 99% Zane himself, so Erynn's ex and Brooke's brother.
He's also surf buddies with the bartender from Dylan's bar, that also works as a mechanic with John.

My favorite for Val's mom is still Ximena Vergara the famous actress, who is also good friends with Gabi the teacher(who used to be married to the MCs biological father), and is a client of Melissa.
Ximena also knows the step father of the MC, Andres, for yet unexplained reasons...
No idea on who her dad is, other than he likes to surf... friends with Zane and Mechabartender, maybe?

Other characters like Tori, Darryl, Sienna might be too small to bother connecting with anyone in ways that matter...
I have a theory that Tori used to be friends with Elena until a certain age(she knows her real name, Victoria), but that's it.

No idea if Ethan will get more connected to anyone, but i can see him being something like a cousin to the MC or at least his dad being friends with the Monroe family, this is all speculation however.

Best path for Iris is the secret path, second best is Alexis.

On the secret path you don't actually have anything with Alexis... but you do with Layla.
Still cheating... but on your friends sister instead of directly on your friend(is that better?).
Alexis places them in an obvious a collision course, Iris wants what Alexis has(and maybe Erynn too).

The Erynn path doesn't have much Iris other than the MC daydreaming that they look so similar a couple of times, maybe in the future.

She always was on top of my list because i like redheads the most and she's cute and sweet, the anal thing doesn't do it much for me as im not into it so its whatever for me, just extra flavor i guess. That said, i do feel Cara has probably the weakest storyline which is a shame, most of it is very similar to Nikki even down to same dialogue, especially in earlier episodes. It has gotten a bit more diverse in the latest episode though so maybe it gets better going forward

That's a good question...
I'm sure there will be some kind of choice, maybe one that we already made or will have to make soon that will end up being a deciding factor in this race.

My main list of things that can factor in is similar:
Relationship to Darryl(wether we are fucking around with Tori or not should play into that).
Relationship to the coach, cheating on his daughters? yay/nay?
Turbulent relationship situation, Elena-Layla stress, Gabi jealousy, Val vs Alexis... anything in the "caught cheating" category.
Last but not least, something regarding Santiago, he's gonna be watching and can potentially throw the MC off his game.

I don't know how popular it is since it's sort of unrelated to the women but I actually like that sometimes the MC can't have it all. I wish there were more choices like training with Layla to win the race versus going with Alexis and losing. I think it adds immersion that if the MC isn't fully committed to something, he will face consequences for it.

Zane make sense, even if it's weird that a bunch of 18yo would all call a 21yo (I assume he is Erynn's age) Mr., while calling Gabi (who is older) by her name (or is it just the man who call her that?). But it kinda make sense in the game to keep the reveal. Was he one of the surfer when we go to the beach with Nikki? I don't remember if the one paying was named (or if he look good enough), but he was with a group of people. I feel like Zane is beeing teased way too much to be a simple character/rival. Maybe he is MC half-brother or something like that, it would also give a "reason" why Erynn was attracted to him (seeing MC in him).

Val's mom would make sense too, but I think she would recognize MC at the restaurant after seeing the picture + waving at him on the sidewalk. Or did she say to Gabi that she recognize him from somewhere? I finished my main route in the last week and I feel like my memory is already giving up on me. But it would feel a bit weird that she saw her daughter ""boyfriend"" 2 times and can't recognize him a couple of days later, especially since Val is very close with her mother. Like I said with Zane, it make sense for the reveal, so I wouldn't mind, but those small "dumb" details are piling up. I also don't remember seeing anything about her and Andres, maybe I didn't get that scene?

I also feel like a couple of smaller characters won't necessarely be connected, but at the same time, some connexion are very minimal, to the point where they will probably be, they just won't make a big deal/big reveal out of it (like Zach and his sister the secretary). If Darryl or Tory mother is the other teacher, or if Sienna brother/father is the guy working for Emily, those are just small details that fit the thematic of the game without taking any time to connect.

And for Ethan, we will more than likely see who his father is, because it will probably connect to the bigger story. But I also feel like we will have the opportunity to have some revenge, so fucking a sister/cousin/mother would make sense.

The start of ep 9 has a check where if you two-timed Alexis and Layla and they broke up with you, Valeria loses 4 points with you too. It's not a direct kick off her route but it might as well be since her points are so tight she won't help you with Ethan. The back end of ep 9 then takes 10 more Val points from you, which I think either takes you 0 or negative and sets the flag for burning the romance with Val too. It's right before the "no friends" check if you somehow botched Nikki/Cara, Erynn, Layla, and Alexis.
