Urgency is always a weird component of storytelling that I often don't like. Especially in video games with open worlds:
  • You have a tadpole inserted into your eye and you are turning into a mind flayer within days. You have to get it out ASAP! Oh, but first we'll spend many weeks of in-game time (based on long rests and cutscenes) to stop and explore every little thing along the way and do 100+ other minor side quests just because it's really not urgent within days.
  • Reapers are coming to destroy all advanced civilization! We have to stop it NOW! The harbinger has arrived, oh but we need to stop and explore every planet for resources, dog tags, and PoIs alongside every side quest first. Oh, then we also need to go and scan planets for all sorts of resources.
  • While in a vault, your child was abducted and you have to get them back. Oh, but first we'll do many other things, explore countless PoIs and side quests before doing that.
  • Your brain is being taken over by a "terrories" and you have to figure out how to get it out to save yourself within days. Oh but first, we'll stop and do all sorts of faction quests, love interest stories, and more spending many weeks of in-game time doing everything else first.
If it's an emergency, shouldn't the focus be to get it resolved right away? ;):cautious:
Thats the good thing when youre writing a novel (without stupid shitty sandbox nobody wants anyway), you can tell a coherent story! Well or you prefer convoluted drama :p

lol the first 1 made me laugh cause I been playing that game for almost 3 weeks now. Tho I will say at least the story makes sense for a lack of urgency since the player can't do shit about it for story reasons , you just don't know that till later in the game haha.

Didn't recognize the last 2 if those were from games

Yeah, if you want to make a huge open world game please come up with a non-time-sensitive story. It can't really be that hard. Or I guess it must be, as a lot of games try to make it urgent, but not really. Even if it's following the path of a visual novel, 'urgent' means it's very time-sensitive and can't really be delayed.

I try to suspend disbelief for most games, but if the game expects me to consider something to be an emergency/urgent then it should be treated as such in the game/story. And not something I might want to get back to in the next 200-300+ playtime hours, if ever. :ROFLMAO:

Love BG3, but it's a perfect definition of "urgent" gone wrong. In the lore once infected you have about 2-3 in-game days before you turn into a mind flayer. Yeah, they do sort of address it with the 'assistance' to suspend it, but it's not a permanent solution and they still the sooner you can resolve the problem the better. But don't mind that, you can even add more of them behind your eye, with minimal impact until you reach an arbitrarily chosen number, then there are some effects.

And there was a huge spelling mistake, not sure how I missed it. "terrories" should have been "terrorist".

Sorry if this has been asked before but has the game been freezing and closing for anyone else? I noticed in my game at least in 3 instance 1 on the Nikki path when she is giving head to the mc, on the Layla path after mc pop's her cherry, and on the Erynn path right when you get to the beach.

Nope, not me. I have occasional pauses while animations load, but other than that, so software glitches or crashes.

the hitches when animations start when skipping seen text is annoying, especially the Iris introduction.
I think it's because the animations are coded as an image sequence, as opposed to a video file

Can someone please explain what I need to do to be on Valeria's path and unlock her scenes?

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
To get on Val's path you need to get full points with her while on the school track meet trip and don't be on Layla's path.
To get full points the correct choices are - Compliment - Let Valeria Decide - Hug her - Daydreaming or Nosering - Start Sprinting - *Obviously don't spy on the girls with Zach the creep* - Decline training with Zach and you should spend the evening with Valeria - Hug Valeria or Hug both. I could be forgetting some but I think that these are the main points scoring ones that I can think of.
You should now be pretty much set for future scenes with Val. Val/Erynn hit a bit of a road block in the last episode so I would avoid mixing those two. Val/Nikki is always a fun one. Be sure to sleep on the couch when Nikki stays instead of getting into bed with Emily.

Layla fully blocks Valeria, so it's not worth even trying.
Fucking Tori after winning the race also blocks Valeria.

Alexis+Valeria has a trick, you need to be bad to Alexis at the beach.
If Val sees you being cozy with Alexis at the beach she'll automatically break things off, if you play bad boyfriend she'll pose a "me or her" question instead of breaking up.
If you answer Alexis, it also ends(maybe, highly mixed vibes) things with Val.
If you say that you want her, you can move forward with Val.
It is possible to tell Valeria that you will break up with Alexis but not actually do it, leaving you stringing both girls along(if you like to live dangerously :devilish: ).

Like Justaphase pointed out Erynn+Val has a problem in that before the most recent date with both girls(going to the beach for either) you are forced to chose.
Choosing Val, may have closed Erynn's path for good, choosing Erynn leaves Val disappointed but way more "whatever... maybe next time".

Val+Nikki, doesn't have much at this point other than them literally running into each other once lol.
No rivalry just yet, but i do think they are naturally suited to be rivals.

Also to the two people who do it, doing shit with zach blocks off val scenes too. I don't imagine anybody really wants those points but still

on my first pts (before the punching) I had some points with him (not the peeping etc ones), afterwards I switched it up, never got a single one. Always thought he was a kinda asshole, but not that big of a one.

I also had some hope that he would turn out alright in the end.
Now the only kind of points i want is suture points on his face.

If there's a punching option in this next update it will be hard to pass on.

We have Freaking Zo, now Zach will forever be Zacha for me. It fits his character more. (And retarded, immature, backstabbing, douche bag incel is several mouthfuls.)

Can someone please explain what I need to do to be on Valeria's path and unlock her scenes?

My original playthrough was Layla/Erryn/Cara break up, but I read somewhere here the best for Valeria was Nikki/Alexis so I've tried that, with some variations (Alexis stopped or continued, Nikki stopped or continued), but all I end up getting is the dare scene at camp. After that, she either saw me at the beach with all the girls, or just told me about her beach day and that she's not interested in anyone. What needs to happen?

Justaphase and LSC82 have already done good breakdowns.

I would add:

- Don't look at Val's other pics on her phone without her permission. Val doesn't like it and that usually means a 4 RP deduction.
- Don't look at Val's half-naked body when you switch underwear during Truth or Dare. (I don't know if the game still penalizes you, but during update 8, you would also lose 4 RP.)
- After they lose the track meet bet with you, you make Layla and Val run topless around the track. Do not turn around to check them out. (I don't know if the game still penalizes you, but before, you would also lose 4 RP.)
- Basically, don't behave like a creep towards Val. Henceforth, choose all positive choices and actions towards Val.

VAL'S TELLS

The signs that you're on the right path to a relationship with Val:

- When Tori asks Val who she would want to sleep with, Val answers Darryl. When Tori asks who else, Val won't answer. She will tellingly look at the MC and Layla laughing together. The dialogue line will be the ellipses "..." (Nyx uses those ellipses when the characters have no words to express themselves, or are feeling mixed, conflicting, intense or overwhelming emotions.)

- When Val visits you in your room and sleeps over, she will kiss you goodbye on the cheek. (That's a typical tell for the other ladies as well.)

- When you're playing around with Layla beside the pool, Val is lying down on a pool chair. Val will look at both of you with some longing. The ellipses will appear again for her line of dialogue. " . . . "

- When you hug and kiss Layla before her race, Val will make a face which I interpret as her jealous or displeased face

- When you help Val get some soda and chips for the party, you'll tease her about falling over while is carrying the sodas. She retorts. You'll say don't worry, I'll catch you again if you fall (referring to catching her after she fell in your lap on the bus.) She gives you a look of longing again. Her dialogue line will be the ellipses "..."

- Truth or Dare Game Tells
- Val offers to switch underwear with you
- Val licks your face

- Morning after the Truth or Dare game, you are in between Val and Layla sleeping in bed. Val has her right leg draped around your body. When Zach wakes you up to go and talk somewhere, Val wakes up. She calls out your name. She looks at you with a look of "Don't leave."

- Back at school, when Val wears a skirt, you get to tell her that she looks good. She thanks you. (If I'm not mistaken, on a friends only path, you don't get to tell her.)

- Before Zach brings you to Ethan and his gang's ambush spot, you and Val tease each other, and flirt in the hallway. Val sticks her tongue out at you in a playful way.

- Val helps you escape from the ambush.

- You have the choice to kiss Val after you get away from the ambush.

- After your jog with Val and Layla, at the sports wear store, Val will send you a dressing room selfie of her wearing a swimsuit.

- You will get a choice to take more pictures with Val in the photo booth where some fun stuff happens.

- You get to fool around with Val when you bump into her jogging in the park.

- The rest of the scenes should be unlocked from here on.

VAL'S RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE OTHER LADIES

Layla - Completely blocks Val. Val will not betray a (new) friend.
Lexi - Val seems to admire Lexi but has no problems stealing you from her. If you don't break it off with either of them, your last chance will be to do a horrible brush off with Val at the coffee shop. This path alone plus Val will have the most Val scenes.
Erynn - You'll have to choose between either of them for the beach date. This either loses a lot of RP or at least locks you out of the relationship with Erynn as LSC82 said. So far, the two ladies are not aware of each other as a threat.
Elena - To be on the Elena path, you need to be on the Layla path, so Val is still indirectly blocked
Melissa - no problems here ... not yet.
Cara - no problems here ... not yet.
Nikki - no problems here ... not yet. They do bump into each other in the park and size each other up like two lionesses. (If you prefer Val to Nikki, help Val to her feet instead with a surprised and questioning Nikki looking on.) This path, combined with the Lexi romance path and Layla friend path will give you the most Val scenes.
Gabi - no problems here ... not yet. She is possibly the friend of Val's mom which would lead to messy consequences later on.
Iris - no problems here ... not yet.
Tori - Stay the hell away from her. She blocks many paths.

Nice clear write up, thanks.

I have a major problem in the game in that I feel that I have to treat all the girls (except Tori) nicely. I want my MC to be a nice guy. A slut, maybe, but a nice guy. Nyx punishes me for it by making being nice a trigger for relationships without actual choices. I don't think that's a bad thing, if you are nice to everyone, and go with the flow, things happen. I hate that I'm going to hurt my friends/lovers/etc.

For your last point: anyone who likes Tori gets what they deserve, I guess? :ROFLMAO:
