I have a major problem in the game in that I feel that I have to treat all the girls (except Tori) nicely. I want my MC to be a nice guy. A slut, maybe, but a nice guy. Nyx punishes me for it by making being nice a trigger for relationships without actual choices. I don't think that's a bad thing, if you are nice to everyone, and go with the flow, things happen. I hate that I'm going to hurt my friends/lovers/etc.
I don't think it's that bad, the game does offer good friend routes, where you are nice and friendly and the girls like your company.
Once you cross the line into flirting and making out it becomes dodgy...
It's this thing, even if it's not a official relationship, no girl is gonna like that the dude who flirts with her also flirts with every other girl in town(and a couple outside of town).
Erynn can be a good friend if you don't veer towards romance, you hang out with her, help her with her Ethan problem, you are both nice and helpful to each other...
Layla can also be a nice friend if you don't go towards romance, still train together, hang out at school, joke around...
Same thing for Val, train together, friendly relationship at school.
With Nikki/Cara the sister that was left behind is also very friendly, and you can have a nice interaction at the airport if you are dating neither.
Even Alexis can be friendly and pleasant... you just have to make sure that you never touch her...
If you do bang her and cut the relationship later, she'll look uncomfortable(and slightly depressed) in your presence all game long.
That one decision in the plane will shape every future interaction.
You're right it will be unpopular.
Zach was a walking red flag even before the betrayal IMO.
Calling every girl "babe" because he can't be bothered to remember their names.
Acting like he owns or has claimed Val because he "saw her first" which I hate.
Going to spy on the girls in the shower/locker room at training camp.
Being an inappropriate cock block when the MC is making out with Layla.
Many other things that I likely forgot to mention.
How is this someone who even deserves the help and friendship of the MC? Not to mention the fact that his friendship points count for nothing, if you have made the effort to be a good friend. He betrays you regardless.
Val is not interested in him in the slightest and I don't blame her.
There is a possibility of redemption if he sees the light and helps take down Ethan, but even then it's a slim chance. Meh fuck him, the sooner that the MC's true bro Nathan comes to Madison Springs the better.
Absolutely, before the betrayal scene i had hope he'd turn out good... but this would include him changing his ways and becoming a nicer guy.
His "normal" behaviour was already pretty bad, even before the betrayal.
If anything he might be a "Ethan in training", he hasn't done anything this bad yet, but if he continues down this path... i can see him becoming a guy who resorts to Ethan style tactics to get what he wants.
