Val says that they moved because her Mom got a job in Madison Springs and she got an MSU scholarship.
There could have been an element of getting her away from those creeps as a bonus.
For them to just show up out of the blue, no wonder she was so emotional on the beach date. For him to have the nerve to pick her up as well as though she would be pleased to see him. Though tbh Val must have a sign on her somewhere which says "pick me up" as it does seem to happen to her constantly. :ROFLMAO:
It does give a nice touch(pun not intended  ) that she's now cool with the MC touching and grabbing her, while tipically it's the thing she hates the most (and it keeps happening).

I just can't wrap my head around this. With all the visual novels where the developer has chosen to release their work on Steam, I see a common thread. They release it as Season 1, Season 2, and so on. They shamelessly compete to see who can create the best cliffhanger, even though it's obvious to any halfway sane person that the story isn't over!

Can someone please explain to me what the difference is with this particular visual novel? Is it really because Nyx didn't divide her story into chapters or seasons?
If you allow a openly "in development" AVN on steam... that is still getting content updates, there's no telling what the dev might do in the future, meaning right now the content is alright... but in the future something they don't like might be included.

By selling "seasons", season 2 becomes a separate product, a product that might not get approved if the story of S2 introduces elements they don't approve.

Just a question — what if we’re not on Val’s route? No help in the alley (since we have John), no romance, no beach dates. I haven’t played that route yet. So what could be the reason behind the Ethan–Val blackmail then? Would Ethan really be that dumb to target a classmate? What could it be?

You're arguing more against the developer than against Steam. That's how it seems to me. Right?

I think she still helps u out without being on her route
im good with her on every playthrough so she always saves me during the confrontation and then gets in trouble on her way back

Just a guess, dude... If you're not having any romance with Val, then maybe Zach is the one Ethan is helping...
They talk about how much he's into her...
But that's just a theory, nothing more...

Right now there's 3 possibilities.
Romance, Val kicked Ethan in the dick but no romance, John punched Ethan(Val never got involved).

In both romance and when Val kicks his nuts, Ethan has this encounter with Val... we don't know what was said or happened in the encounter, either route.
When John is the one that helps this encounter doesn't happen... but Zach still asks Ethan's help to get laid, so Val is still somewhat in his radar.

I think she still helps u out without being on her route

She helps you depending on how many points you got with her during the training camp.
If you are low on Valeria points, John(Erynn-Iris dad) shows up.

If John shows up there's no "Ethan intimidates Val scene"... but... she's still in Ethan's radar somewhat thanks to Zach.

I was trying to see things from Steam's perspective.

Adult games that are still receiving content might currently have content Steam is OK with... but might cross some lines in the future.
Although seasons have become simply a way to monetize things, Steam is under no obligation to approve season 2, as far as they are concerned it's a different game.
They approve S1 and if S2 touches on some topics they don't like... they don't approve S2 and you are forced to find a new way to continue playing, Steam stays safe.

In development, Early Access games, there's no telling what kind of story developments are ahead.

If you don't get enough Val points then she doesn't help you with Ethan and his goons. Her and Ethan never meet so the conversation between him and Zach goes a little differently with him sure that he can help him with her.

But why was Val the only one who got a direct encounter with Ethan? If we assume Ethan wants to help Zach, it’s clear Zach was interested in several girls:
  • Alexis — okay, as the bartender there was talk about a blowjob from her, so she was theoretically on his radar, but there was no direct encounter; he only used MC to get to her.
  • Erynn — Ethan probably wouldn’t help Zach with her since he’s interested in her himself.
  • Layla — he wanted her too, but nothing really happened between Ethan and Layla.
  • Elena — same situation as Layla.
  • Gabi — again, Zach was into her, but there’s no sign of an Ethan–Gabi interaction either.
    So why Val?

She happened to be running by when it happened? If you don't have enough points either she runs somewhere else or doesn't care enough to get involved? :ROFLMAO: We actually see her running in the background while alot in the game around the city/town.

This girl is running in the background in so many pictures that you should get an achievement if you notice her... :ROFLMAO:

one that stands out for me is when you are with Erynn after the shoot, and she is jogging with Layla right past them :ROFLMAO:
Yep, also when you are on the way to the garage to see John you see her in the background. She even looks like she might have run past them? Unless she or her dad lives in one of those houses perhaps? The one with the red door between the MC and Erynn and her? Or they just straight up ignored each other. :ROFLMAO:

Ethan only has this direct encounter with Val if Val makes direct contact with his nuts(not in a pleasant way :ROFLMAO:).

If John is the one that helps MC, Ethan doesn't know who Val actually is... he just heard about her from Zach.
The dialogue of the Zach-Ethan scene changes to reflect that, there's 2 versions, one where he has met her, one where he doesn't know her.

Zach always requests Ethan's help with getting Val, but i don't think this plan has got into motion yet... the previous meeting(conditional on Valeria having kicked Ethan's nuts) wasn't on Zach's behalf, Ethan was simply trying to get even with her.

The story splits on Val having kicked Ethan's nuts or not?
If she has kicked his nuts, they had this meeting where he tried to intimidate/scare her.
If she hasn't kicked his nuts, Ethan and Val have never actually met... but Ethan is still suppoused to help Zach get in her pants... but nothing has actually happened on this front, Ethan and Val connection is just "theoretical" here...
It might happen... but Ethan doesn't really care about Zach's problems, he's just manipulating the dumb fuck, so it might never happen either.

The other girls Zach has interest, which includes pretty much every female of the cast... i guess Zach never took to the point of requesting help like he did with Val.

It's played like a chance encounter, she just happened to be nearby and helped...
Did she decide to steer clear if you didn't have the points? Or simply met with her mom early, we'll never know...

And yes, she is on the background a lot :ROFLMAO:

Both girls had horse blinders that day, MC was 3 meters to the side and they just ran by :ROFLMAO:

Opposite directions and it does look awfully close on that sidewalk not to have noticed each other...
Of course she could've just come out of the red door like you say.

If she did just run past them then that was a missed opportunity IMO to have another Nikki and Val passive aggressive style meeting like at the park on Nikki's path. I can just imagine Erynn's is nice to Val like she is to everyone and then a little look between them, like who is this bitch?! :ROFLMAO:

We'll probably never find out for sure but my theory on why Val helped when on her route but not when not on her route is that she sees what is happening on both routes, if she's romantically interested in MC she jumps in without a thought to her own safety, but if you're not on her route she actually thinks first and spots the nearest big guy and asks him to help, and the big guy just happened to be John.

If you think about it then it actually makes less sense that John doesn't get involved when you're on the Val route even with Val getting involved, it's still a guy he thinks of like a son and a teenage girl outnumbered by Ethan and his thugs, but this theory would work because it would provide an explanation that he didn't have an eyeline on what was happening until Val told him.

Not sure about that. Nikki has the strength and the poison damage while Val has the speed, agility and pole vaulting skills. :ROFLMAO:
I read that as pole dancing skills and thought I had missed a scene.
