Sure, and after those few times where MC made a token effort, he starts instead to shit on the guy in his own thoughts and badmouth him together with the girls instead of maybe, i don't know, try to explain in some detail why Zach's behavior is wrong, rather than simply tell him what amounts to "don't do that [because i tell you]" or as you put it, give him hints. Since i'm saying that MC isn't acting like a good friend with Zach and you are disagreeing on this matter with me, then let me ask you this -- what exactly in MC's behavior towards Zach that we can see throughout the game makes you believe the MC is Zach's good friend...?

And yet you can bet if it was MC who ended up with dick on his face and Zach was laughing at him instead of telling them, people here would be bringing this up as strong evidence of how much of a dick Zach was towards the MC. :sneaky:
One of the reasons I love the Val path so much is because of how much it pisses Zach off. I can't speak for the MC but personally I'm a really shitty friend to Zach. :ROFLMAO: As soon as Gabi asks who's car is parked in the resevered spots I tell her it's Zach's before she can finish getting the words out.
He's just someone I can't stand but that's a thing for me personally. I've never liked guys who behave even slightly like he does, even though obviously I think his bad character is exaggerated here.

OK, so if MC himself doesn't consider himself a good friend of Zach, why are people here acting like simply stating as much, that MC isn't acting like a good friend of Zach, like some sort of crime against humanity that must be disagreed with and debated at lenght?
Nah, He forgot all about Zach until he saw him at school. He tried to help him out at first but he never listened or disregarded it so he gave up. The MC never out right sabotaged him on purpose. You can't really make a girl interested who isn't. Most the girls find him annoying and an asshole cause he ignores them and hits on another girl right in front of them. Aka Erynn while Valeria is standing there. He was his own worst enemy and Ethan convinces Zach that it was our fault, which it was not. The MC tried to sit him down and explain it but he ran off or ignored the advice or misunderstood. Zach refuses to take personal responsibility for his behavior. It is one of the main reasons he is so easy to hate.

See, now that's more than fair. Nothing wrong with the approach, as long as one actually owns it. :sneaky:

There is a difference between “considering someone a friend” and “treating someone like a friend.” MC treats Zach like a friend even though he has proven several times in the early days that he is not worthy of it. MC took the trouble to point out Zach's misbehavior. Sure, he could be more direct, but why? Zach has shown several times that he doesn't listen anyway. Why bother? Zach is an asshole and should be glad anyone even talks to him.

Because that would be yet another example of how Zach is not a good friend to the MC.

Sorry, but i think this is silly -- if you see someone isn't smart enough to understand some vague hint then "he wouldn't understand even if i explained it to him precisely so i won't even try" is imo just an excuse not to try. It doesn't even make sense, because if anything a person who is ignorant needs to have things explained to them in detail in order to actually understand them. If they could do with less, they'd hardly need even hints in the first place.

You can actually see this in the game at the start of the field trip. When it comes to switching seats, the MC just tells Zach he should ask Val about her opinion. Zach doesn't get it and MC is like, "well whatever". But when Layla explains later to Zach why this wasn't cool of him, he does get it and remembers to take it into account in the future events. So, no. It's not really true that "Zach is just an asshole and wouldn't listen even if he got actual explanation".

You and I are playing different games.
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

That's okay. I hope you enjoy your game.
Zach didn't set up the MC. He wasn't even aware MC and Ethan had a bad history with each other, until Ethan told him when they all met. Much less that it'd end up with Ethan attacking the MC. He also wasn't present when it happened, Ethan told him to go ahead and wait for him at the club place.

You may indeed play a different game than most, if that's what your impression of that scene was.

Zach hit MC after Ethan has talked/tricked him into thinking that MC was the bad guy that wronged Zach many times. But this is entirely different thing from "Zach has set up MC to take beating from Ethan's goons and laughed while it happened" because there's no such thing in the story.

"Set up to be beaten up" implies that Zach knowingly and intentionally brought MC to Ethan so Ethan would beat the MC up. While Zach just thought he'd introduce his long-time friend to his new friend he's made recently.

Zach still hit him after very little convincing. What did zach think was going to happen when he left?

Didn't we establish that Zach is an idiot? Ethan told him he wanted to speak with MC some more, so that's what he likely thought was going to happen. Ethan has played a good guy in front of Zach, not someone who goes around beating people up.

While this the absolutely best way to play
It's worth pointing out, that no matter what you do with Zach, he always turns traitor and blames the MC for shit he caused himself.

You can ignore both Layla and Valeria, and help him in every opportunity, he still buys into Ethan's BS... he's never a good friend.
With both girls he struck out before the MC could do anything to undermine him... Layla probably goes back years before the game even began.
And Valeria was pretty fed up with his BS by the training camp.

If you do go for the girls... to people observing from a distance it can look like the MC snuck up behind his "friend" and shanked him...
In truth Zach blew his chances before anything ever happened... his problems are self inflicted, but he points the finger at the MC anyways.
The MC even tries to give him some advice but it falls on deaf ears.
And he punches MC ending the friendship before we hook up with Valeria anyways.

Irl i would probably talk to my friend before doing anything, clear the air... just give him a fair warning about what's going on between me and Layla/Valeria.
That's the main negative mark i can give to the MC.

Not that Zach deserves a warning anyway, what he deserves is watching we pull Valeria for a kiss in the middle of the cafeteria.

zach just needs to get dogwalked outside the school. He snuck MC twice so far. MC needs to wait for his ass and beat the shit out of him every time he sees him.

Im starting to see why MC ran away after he thought that erryn turned him down. He thought that he was gonna get stuck with Zach permanently.
