Developer Notes:
Fair warning, the majority of content in this game will take place in the 'real world'.
Would that it were.

My MC has no interest in nor patience for Izzi and Qai's bullshit, making this whole update imprisoned by the latter just something to sit through while he's waiting for a chance to escape and get rid of that implant (I just realized the Izzi Qai isekai pun and groaned out loud, btw.). Some of the individual scenes might have been hot if they were 'real', but as part of Qai's Sim Circus they just feel pointless at best.

The confrontation with Izzi at the beginning of the previous update still doesn't set any variables, so the game doesn't know if the conversation ended early, before she introduced herself. My MC doesn't know who that random smug arsehole was nor who the Ms. Tanet is that Qai is going on about in this update, other than Ness mentioning her once back in the off2 section.

The extended pontification on games and player agency was clearly influenced by the reaction to the game so far. It doesn't move the plot forward or do much else, really, it just seems like the dev carrying on a conversation with the MC as a stand-in for players who've commented here and elsewhere. Long sections without any player interaction discussing the player's desire for agency vs. the dev's desire to control the over-all narrative arc.

Ah well, can't all be winners. The game is still well-written and visually striking, hopefully we'll get through this section before too long.

I'm going to pretend like the Izzi+Qai/isekai thing was intentional, thanks.

I thought about going back and adding a variable to that earlier conversation because forgetting to do so in the first place was kind of a silly mistake but ultimately I didn't want to break anyone's saves and even if it's less than ideal it's not going to cause any major issues.

As far as the conversations with Qai -

Well, that was boring.

I have zero interest in being trapped in what is essentially a dream sequence, none of the scenes have any value as they aren't "real" for the MC, just like other VNs with dream sequences instead of "real" encounters for the MC.

FYI, trying to frame it as marveling at the juxtaposition of fantasy Vs reality, agency Vs control, isn't clever, interesting and thought provoking, it's tedious.
It leads to switching on "skip unread" and holding down ctrl.

But you do you, I'm not expecting my feedback and criticisms to change anyone's mind.

So this update wasn't great, it basically gave me a headache, all this meta narrative is just a mind killer, you might as well have a Matrix Architect scene where the MC just talk to QAI while in a room observing the various simulations, its obvious the only reason for the rest was basically to provide an opportunity for porn scenes so to make the pill easier to gob, but its overall a poor execution, for goodness knows how many time of late I have to remind writers of the one thing to remember a key rule of writing, show don't tell, this entire update is tell tell tell with some meaningless show in between. If you are going to tell something keep it short and sweet focusing on the key relevant information, not some long painful diatribe.

Obviously the dev here is trying to Stanley's Parable their story, which by the by pretty much already covered this bloody subject in depth, much better, but did it in a way that conveyed its message while showing in a sense the arguments being made, unlike here where the dev is just telling us to death.

To be honest jumping around the Sims and reality is confusing and not fun. It's feel like the story is all over the place since we're jumping around in quick successions. MC is in a virtual of jail of sort and its feels like a long a monologue of game psychology with an annoying buggy AI. If i'm the MC i probably disengage in the Sims and go crazy. A game without a clear goal is bad design so the entire premises of the story doesn't sound fun at all.

Like the MC (Players), there is no motivation in it. I also end up skipping a lot of conversation...
If there is a game like the SIms the MC is in, i'll probably burn it. No clear goal for MC, no direction, no context just throw in MC in randoms Sims. This just annoys the MC/player ie us

Edit: I also agree the effort and idea was there but the execution was bad.

First of all, hats off to dev for the amount of effort it must have taken to produce this update.

BUT!...

I'm ngl, I have the same experience as the commenters above. It was like I was getting dragged through scene after scene. And I get it already, we're in a dream sequence and there is some explanation that's happening. But I'm not reading any of it because I already get the gist of it. We're suck in a simulation we're trying to get out, that's all I really need to know. So all this dialog, doesn't mean anything to me.

These rapid fire scene's don't do anything for me either because there is no build up. It's inanimate. We know it's a dream, just a placeholder. It's like saying a fleshlight or a dildo is sexy. Sure it's an object for gratification, but it's not sexy now is it. It's just there. (I think that's the gist of it, it's trying to be too smart for it's own good. It's a dream world within a game, explained to a player, that is not interested in the game for it's complicated narrative).

You could have gone into a slow descent of "is this MC's reality or a dream" confusing one with the other. Which is what I thought you were going for. Instead we went straight into "This is all a dream".
