I would like to update some background images for city locations. If you have an images to share, feel free to suggest some.

Best case will be a pack with this locations, hi-res, consistent style and lore frienly. High quality AI generated will fit as well. Appreciate your help in advance!

Currently looking for:
  • City Gates
  • Slums
  • Outcasts
  • Serpentine
  • Bull
  • Necropolis

What in your opinion is lacking about each of these?

I'm all for artistic improvement and perfection is a never-ending horizon. But have in mind that most current background locations were already an overhaul (introduced in 2.0). I remember scourging the internet very hard to find those, and we were three modders assessing, comparing, color correcting, etc.

Do better pictures even exist? If that's the case it means that we either missed them, or that we mistakenly thought they weren't good, or that they were created after 2019. As of now, we don't know your standards; have you found some examples of images that work perfectly as replacement?

Since you have a lot of work ahead of you with the port, I'm afraid that adding "art director" to your list of missions will make you lose focus and burn you out. Don't you think?

I'm agree with you, so I don't plan to take any art director role. Current images is good on their own and my request is mostly like a question: "Is there anything new in the internet?". Also I mostly looking forward to take a look how this places could be seen by AI

The only consern of this images is it's resolution.

I'm personally not 100% satisfied with Necropolis. It's like like a random city in Austria with red lights. I'd like something like more stylish, kind of like : 1706725111466.png . That's more what I was looking for originally but it needed from POV ideally, or that you see the main walkable road at least.

I won't be searching all over again, but if ever I stumble on one I'll do a replacement and try to notice you. :)

Also I mostly looking forward to take a look how this places could be seen by AI

The only consern of this images is it's resolution.
The sources were of higher resolution so that's not much a problem.

I also have Topaz Photo IA which can make good looking upscales.

Whenever you need, tell me and I'll send you pictures at the resolution you ask.

I respect your personal tastes and the work proposed. However I disagree that, as is, these backgrounds would improve the game.

I personally find them too dull, lifeless, plastic-y. But above all that, they are a downgrade in artistic composition and symbolism.

This is the 1.21 original: slums.jpg . This is the vibe and lore to aim for. It's gritty, muddy and wet. There's theft, death and monsters.

This is the overhaul: slums.png . It's gritty, muddy, wet. There is death (theft and monsters are absent which is too bad but but could still be considered a healthy compromise in favor of subtlety)

This is AI version: slumsIA.png . Now it's just wet. The dead human was replaced with a scarecrow so it doesn't hint at death. The roads are now paved which tells the player questionnable informations about the lore (that there'd money and workers to do that in the slums). The houses look a bit more comfortable and modern. There's electricity, even businesses. It looks like a street from Japan rather than a medieval dark fantasy town. There are also IA artifacts on the top left (building with empty gap, football stadium light post in the sky).

Art has depth to it, it's not just pretty pictures. Artistic homogeneity and resolution are the only benefit here. but shouldn't be a priority especially at the cost of mood and visual story-telling.

IA art has great potential, but we don't have to completely jump in the bandwagon and abandon the current ship. Each picture shall be replaced if need be, but based on non-superficial criteria first, resolution and uniformity second.

just remove copyrighted art
I feel no incentive to do so.

Jack-o-nine-tails initially came up with copyrighted art, this is a legacy. Why would we remove it?

If it's about morality, the game itself does the apology of rape, slavery and cannibalism. We're well past getting outraged at "copy-pasted pictures without permission".

If it's about the law, F95Zone is a piracy website. Not the best place to convince people about the merits of intellectual property.

Good art is scarce, and we're more likely to find good/fitting art that is copyrighted than royalty-free. If one day we find or make art that is better, then it'll replace the current content.

Hi! There is fresh progress report.

Right now "game" looks like this:

What is done?

1) Templates
2) Element's styles
3) LocationUI stuff
4) Finished creation of interaction buttons in "Slave activities" section (approx 3900 lines of code for interactions buttons only, but almost all of them without functions assigned yet. It was just finished tbh)
5) Created interaction buttons on next level in deph in other sections
6) Resumed work on classes and other game's background

That is all for now. Will keep in touch with news. Thanks!

As I understand, original russian language is removed from game? Is there an ability or patch to make actual version back in russian?

Impossible, too much has changed since it diverted from Russian version.

You either need to play in English or play the Russian branch (which you can find on Pornolab).

Maybe, if the port to Godot is a success, having several translations will be easier? But it's just a mere possibility, someone will still have to translate many chunks of text.

Godot version supports localizations and if there will be enthusiasts to translate all the stuff the game will be in Russian as well
