Hello! I've started an easy mode game and managed to train my slave to be good at many things. She's happy and loving and not fearfull or abused... All I did for punishment was show off my potential torture devises and that was enough. Of my starting 10,000 sparks I have 4000 left after about 90 days and started to search around town for ways to make money. Other than selling my slave that I mean to keep I cant find any... I tried hunting fiends outside town and so far only found impossible enemies that reward me with a game over... I tried to arm my slaves to help with the fight but cant seem to add them to my party outside. How do I make money without selling my slaves or subjecting them to some bizzar farm role (milking, pig)? What am I doing wrong? Aside from my assistant I seem to be able to only have one slave, Is that right or how do I get more? I was sorta hoping to be able to send them out to work as a dancer or cook or maid for part of the day to make money but cant figure out how or where this is done. I also tried to make potions in hopes of selling them but cant find a buyer and at this rate I'm doomed to go broke eventually... Another bogus thing I've noticed is that even though my assistant is an S rank maid my house gets dirty like we're running around the house flinging buckets of dirt and feces and she can barely keep up... Thanks

I don't get the game after the last round of "adjustments". Early game is ridiculously tedious now, Isabelle lost all her obedience, leaving me with a useless accountant, guild pays me jack shit for contracts, what am I supposed to do except save scum low pride servant contracts to at least scrape by?
Assistant obedience is no longer fiat guaranteed, but Isabella still starts with high obedience and many useful skills and traits, and she can transfer some of her skills to other slaves. Calling her useless is a bit of a stretch.

Keep her mood up with appropriate clothing and occasional attention, and make sure she's aroused and the master is alluring if you're having her do something sexual.

Also use the dev version, if you aren't already.

Guild contracts aren't optimal for income. Save them for when you need the up-front prepayment to cover an end-of-decade bill or when you want to obtain a free high-quality slave without paying market rates (you can fulfill a contract with a different slave than the one they give you, so save the good quality ones for better things and fulfill contracts with others). Guild auctions also raise guild rep if you sell slaves rated above your current guild rank and pay more sparks than contracts do if you prepare the slave well.

To maximize guild contract income, you can turn in a contract on the same day you accept it. That implies you have a slave already trained before you pick up the contract. You can turn in an S+ rated slave for a D- guild contract and the payment will reflect the quality difference, but the speed bonus will be based on the D- contract. The highest guild contract payment you can get is with an S+ contract that you complete on the same day.

If you are already in the middle of a guild contract and you can afford to cover your cost of living for the time it will take to train the slave to a higher rating, it may be worthwhile for you to keep working on it, even if the contract will be late.

High nature is harder to train than high pride, because high nature opposes taming. Pride usually takes care of itself as training progresses. It's entirely possible to train slaves with above-average attributes from day 1 with zero points invested on extreme difficulty, so you don't need to be so picky about a slave's starting attributes.

Training servants is not necessarily the easiest (or cheapest) specialization. Smart slaves dislike menial labor, and stupid slaves learn slower. Assistant (secretary/elocution) is another two-skill specialization. Gladiatrix is a single skill but requires B+ nature and temperament, and a trained gladiatrix is more likely to fight back when punished. Art specialization skills have relatively low obedience thresholds, although there are three of them. Ditto for witchdoctor (nurse/alchemy/witchcraft). Etc. You will have more success if you tailor your approach to fit the slave, instead of treating them all the same.

Does "Spread Rumour" at the forums still affect slave fame? I haven't seen it do anything even after 10+ days despite the wiki saying it should. It just says that it was the same faces but that has to do with my own reputation I think. My slave reached D fame after doing several tournament fights.
Wiki is not reliable. Spreading rumors only affects the master's fame, not the slave's, and caps at a fairly low level. I like the idea of having it affect the slave too.

My f- personality slaver starts a fight with 10 purple hearts (morale). Morale injuries will recover when damage is dealt to an opponent. If you're having trouble, try equipping some weapon or armor. More good tips on the combat system on the wiki.

Guild contracts pay badly if you are after sparks. I think you will do better selling slaves to businesses such as the real estate office. It's a tradeoff though, guild contracts provide some sparks up front and a free slave.

Isabella is far from useless, her traits alone make her borderline overpowered. True, she does not start out perfectly obedient, something you have to work towards.

Jack is primarily designed around breaking slaves, training and then selling them. There are ways to keep more than one at a time (assistant, dungeon, cryosleep), however the game was never designed to let you build up a large workforce and earn money from their labor. There are some lore explanations for this in the text, as a member of the slaver's guild you can't legally open a brothel, also brothel owners are prohibited from selling slaves.

Fighting in the fogs is very dangerous, almost impossible without maxed out skills, equipment and consumables. There's no way to form a party, you always fight alone.

You can always order your house to be cleaned, you don't have to wait for the day to end. Different activities cause different amounts of filth.

Buy slave for 22 spark and this happened. Damn you Farid, i demand refund
Farid just hooked you up with a fog fiend at a 78 spark discount, make sure you have a pen for it!

technosphere should be able to heal bruise and trace of beating consider how advance they are, it take ridiculously long to heal any kind of bruise.
High nurse skill of assistant or medical skill of master, slave getting extra rest (reward 'rest for hour' / 'rest until evening' or ending day with enough green energy stars to show an end-of-day scene of the slave having free time), slave getting competent massages, and slave being in a good mood (positivity promotes healing) all help heal bruises faster. Inflicting more damage obviously will extend recovery time.

How do I make money without selling my slaves or subjecting them to some bizzar farm role (milking, pig)?
Income sources:

Selling slaves (different buyers value them differently, alive or dead) ~ thousands of sparks
Winning colosseum events (pony racing, arena gladiatrix battles) ~ hundreds of sparks
Barn livestock products (pig meat, egglayer eggs, cow milk) ~ hundreds of sparks
1$ for public toilet punishment
Starting a guild contract

Easy custom game also gives you access to in-game cheat menu, including more sparks, so you can roleplay a post-scarcity harem if you want.

Cost reductions:

Lower cost of living (move to slums or a cheaper district to lower decade billing costs / reduce other discretionary spending)
High intellect/skill slave or assistant doing accounting to obtain discount on decade billing
Feeding slaves spawn semen milked from a pet fog fiend
Alchemy to prepare healing balm to reduce medical costs
Eating in restaurants is on average cheaper than eating at home

... and everything else that improves efficiency of training (if you intend to sell the slave you are training)

So aside from selling your slaves there's no way to make money at all? Bummer! Also the the house gets dirty at an extreme rate... Even if all I did was train speech all day and reward her with praise, treats and an outing... The assistant manages to make a small dent in the mess at S rank maid but cant keep the house from being a dump without help from my other S rank slave... This is Imbalanced hence my flinging buckets of dirt and feces all around the house all day remark. A well upkept house Is easy to keep well kept, Only a neglected house would start to fall into disarray.

Selling slaves will (almost) always be your primary source of income. There are a few other ways to earn sparks but they are supplemental at best. Winning in the arena or pony race will reward some sparks, so will selling produce from your barn but these are at least an order of magnitude less than the amount that you can get by selling slaves.

Old Huntsman, the original creator, was working on another game with the same setting but I haven't seen much from him in the last two years. I wish the guy well and hope he manages to create some more games for us in the future.

edit to say: I can't comment more with the experience you are having with keeping a clean house. I rarely see cleanliness drop below blue, unless training magic or alchemy heavily.

Physique? Overweight slaves can't be Enduring.
I'm actually having trouble with this too. The assistant just keeps gaining weight. She eats WAY too much and completely ignores her dietary plan from the slave menu. Isabelle's current start of the day calorie count is 700 or 800. There's just no way for her to lose that much calorie and still be a useful assistant when you have meals to cook, baths to take and fiends to milk. She's turned into corpulent weight because of it. There has to be something wrong in the code itself or the assistant needs its own dietary plan.

Agustus has made some changes that affect assistant diet in the latest dev build. Try patching your install with the latest version. You only have to update the code part of the game so it's not a huge download. You can get it on this page:

Get master-ia for the standard game, or if you have restored content, download master-ia-patch

As always, double check every link when downloading files. You should find the same information in the OP on this thread.

Thanks for the heads up! I downloaded it and now Isabelle starts the day with 300-400 calories. Spending an energy to exercise to lose weight or ignore to keep stable is a lot more manageable. Does an assistant's automated activities get taken into account when factoring the actual end day caloric count or is it just the number when you click end day.

I could be mistaken, but my assumption for the fix was that she will no longer gain weight regardless of her calorie count with the exception being if she's fallen to bony at which point she'll increase her diet on her own to get herself back to model. But otherwise her weight will not grow on its own.

Just the end day caloric count. Isabella has a high metabolism so 300-400 calories will not increase her physique.

great game (y) slowly getting better at understanding how it works :D
would it be possible to have a button from the dungeon (in and out) on the main menu also with the possibility of swapping like it is on the assistant?

I tried all methods, training nearly all skills I can to increase her devotion. But it still took me 20 more days. So you can see, demands of S+ raking quests don't make any sense, because before she achieve S+ devotion, you have trained her all skills well.
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

$interesting_specialisation['general_carnis'] = 'refferent'
And the dialog didn't mention he needs a refferent.
He doesn't. That's the specialization he wants when he participates in guild auctions.

On another note, I think I found a bug or 2. First is that the milk canister image that should be visible only in the barn shows up on the items owned page when you click on the master's portrait if you bought it and don't have a barn yet. The 2nd one is that it seems the farmhand energy levels become bugged when you take her out of the farm. Every click on an option (not even performing anything yet) reduces the stamina by 1. I'm playing the 2.2.3 dev build btw.
Thanks for the report. Milk canister appearing on master inventory tab when you do not have a barn is intended. However, overlapping other text and appearing on all tabs was not intended.

Farmhand (and other slaves in barn) spending energy when transferred into the barn is intended. But I am not seeing endurance loss when taking the farmhand in and out of the barn as long as she has green energy stars remaining. Moving her in and out when she has no more green energy stars will sap endurance as it increases her red energy stars. What "option" are you clicking?

Dev build updated (sarinee fyi):

1. Swift Blow no longer does double damage to a single opponent when there are no other living opponents
2. Swift Blow now correctly checks secondary target damage resistance
3. Milk canister repositioned on master inventory tab when owned without a barn, and confined to inventory tab only
4. Corrected the color-coding in the requirements dialogue for General Carneys to match the coded requirements (A+ not S+ Xenophily and Secretary)
5. Added text to Tiamat's requirements to make clearer that all witchdoctor skills are expected
