If they don't have vagina, they are not futas, they are shemales or traps or whatever you prefer to call feminine males.
I prefer to call them futas. If a character is super feminine but has a dick and no vagina I call them futa, unless it was specifically stated that they were once male and transitioned but kept the dick, then I call them trans.

Let's do an experiment. If someone drew a female looking character that was fully clothed but with a big bulge, what would you refer to them as? You don't know the specifics of their genitals, so you just call them futa and leave it at that.

I can never get over it personally. Western culture just blanket terms futanari as intersex. Literally people making up their own meanings for the word futanari (shortened to futa) which is Japanese for hermaphrodite which basically means an organism that has BOTH reproductive organs. Yes in people it basically doesn't exist but people love twisting the meaning.
I could argue all day with people about this myself but its always going to spin back to 'whatever we want to call it' but it's one of my pet peeves.

Androgynous is the term used for that unless you literally know what they are.
