Episode 3 progress and other items
Hi everyone!
A short update today to let you all know I’m still alive, and still working!
(Apologies for re-using old steam post images. I have a 160 frame animation rendering right now)
Progress since the last post from the 30th May:
- Rendered another 500 images
- Rendered/edited/added sound to 45 animations in total now for Ep3 (we’re just getting started here too! This episode is going to have a lot more animations than the previous 2 episodes).
- Written another 4 scenes that are now ready for render.
- Created 2 ‘Behind the scenes’ videos for an upcoming supporter page (not yet live).
- Created another 3 characters custom outfits for court (I’m creating these as they appear in the narrative).
It’s been a busy few weeks, but absolutely loving seeing the new scenes come to life.
One particular scene (some of you probably know what I’m talking about) has been a bit of a technical worry of mine since I hinted at it happening in Episode 1. I did wonder if I had overpromised or was too ambitious, but I’m very pleased to say that with certain assets mentioned in last months post, It’s actually a lot of fun to create, and I needn’t have worried!
<ahem!>
To keep you all in the loop, I’m off on holiday in mid-July, for a week, but I’ve bought a keyboard for my IPad so I can still write by the pool and ensure the game continues to develop. I’m hoping to get a huge chunk of the story done at that time as I won’t have access to DAZ (which often distracts me as I find that side of things more fun), so by the time I get back from that, I should have a good few thousand images to get started on.
Lovense
My technical consultant has sorted out the issues we were having with that, so I can get those final tweaks sorted out now and get the functionality turned on.
For those interested, the issue I was having was that the toys you can link with the game have multiple functions (vibrate, suction, etc) and renpy was having trouble using more than one at a time, which led to the toys just stopping (which would have been a real mood killer!). That's now sorted so for each lewd scene, I need to add in custom commands based on what's happening in the scene. It's going to be developed most specifically for the Solace and the Max 2, but should work generically with any of the toys that Lovense have to offer.
3D Printing
For a bit of fun, I've sent off a model for 3D printing (mainly a mini fun side project for my own enjoyment, but if it turns out well, I’ll print a few if there is any interest I'll get more printed). I had a call earlier today with an 3D artist in the U.S. who is currently converting one of the characters to something that is printable as a test run.
The issue with DAZ figures and 3D printing is that they are all 'open-mesh' due to the nature of how the assets are attachable/detachable and movable. If you fed them through a 3D printer, they would error or come out all deformed. So all the gaps need to be manually closed (eyes to eyelids, top lip to bottom lip, dress/clothing to skin, jewellery to skin, hair to head etc). You also need to re-model some of the assets, like eyebrows and hair because they are often strand-based which is not printable either.
I think that's probably the reason you don't see many developers offering figures, because the prep-work involved is quite expensive (plus the cost of having them professionally painted!).
That's it for now. I'll check in before I head off on holiday. I do hope everyone is starting to enjoy the sun! Have a fantastic rest of June!
Thanks,
