Question Concerning Fan Art (I searched this thread and the F95 forum but did not find an answer):

Is there a separate Fan Art location to post "similar" user created renders of the Jury characters? Or would they be allowed in this thread? I don't want to infringe on the developer's creations, or get "off topic" in this thread, so thought I would ask here first.

I could post an example render in this thread if anyone isn't sure about what I'm asking.

Thanks for any insight.

(EDIT: Just a clarification. I do the renders for fun. Not accepting donations and nobody needs to "Buy Me A Coffee" or anything like that. I just enjoy making similar-looking renders of game characters I enjoy.

I see people posting Fan Art at the link below.

That's true in some cases. But many of the VN's here on F95 have separate SPECIFIC Fan Art threads for their specific game that are included in the link you provided above, and a fan art thread for Jury isn't there. If there isn't a separate thread in the link you posted, usually (but NOT always) the posting of fan created renders of the game and characters are allowed in the main game thread. If the number of those posts starts getting "too much" (?) for the actual game thread, then someone will request a separate thread be created specifically for that game's fan art renders.

I searched F95. I didn't find a specific Jury fan art thread. I also haven't seen any renders from fans in this Jury game thread.

So that's why I'm asking. I can't see creating a whole separate fan art thread for Jury if not many people would be creating fan art for it. Or if the developer doesn't want ANY outside fan art to be posted about their VN here at F95.

So my question remains.

Layla's Christmas

Happy Christmas Jurors!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday period, eat more than you should, drink and be merry! I’ve spent the day with my parents, brother and other extended family. I'm always very fortunate to have family around me at Christmas time, something I'm very thankful for.

While I do hope you all have a lovely holiday, I do feel it’s important to remember that this period can be quite a lonely time of year for many. It can also be a particularly hard time in general for some. Financial difficulties and pressures, family politics and perhaps even having to exert additional effort to make sure someone else has a positive day to remember.

Along this thread, I’d like to offer my gift to you this Christmas, ‘Layla’s Christmas’.

I didn’t want to go down the route of another Christmas themed background wallpaper, but wanted to provide some more value to the gift this year.
Along with a collaborator, we have created a little side story for you to play through about Layla. You all know Layla as the happy, positive character from Jury, so let’s get an insight into her life before she took that bus to travel to the Raddison Hotel for Jury duty.

The ‘mini’ side story became not so ‘mini’ and I think If you’re reading all the content, it’s around an hour play time!

To access it, you can find a new tab on the main menu called ‘Side Stories’. This should only be playable if you have met Layla in game.

(There will be additional side stories in the future, but not before the release of Ep3. They do take quite a lot of effort and planning, and for 2025 my main goal is to get Ep3 released).

Additional updates:

- Added more accessibility items (change font size, style, outline etc)
- Changed the way the age disclaimer functions. Now it will only ask upon first launching the game rather than on every playthrough
- Added in the option to skip the prologue for fresh run-throughs
- Fixed some gallery/replay items that were not functioning properly.
- Numerous typos
- Added in a ‘loading’ spinner which should activate when the game is going through some textless renders.
- Updated renpy base code
- General GUI updates (Moved away from the red/black color theme towards the yellow/black Jury colors.

Bug Warning:

During this update, I was required to upgrade the base Renpy code. As a result, myself and the collaborator have been battling upgrade related issues with both Episode 1 and 2 over the past 48 hours. I think we’ve managed to squash those bugs, but there is a chance that some are still there. The way the beta branch works on Steam is not ideal as it does not cater for DLC’s, so you have to create a single package containing EVERYTHING and it’s not quite the same as releasing as a DLC. Essentially, I’ll need to see how the package deploys on live and then work out if there are any remaining issues. Please bear with me if there are any outstanding issues.

I do hope you enjoy the mini episode! Please feel free to leave feedback on this post.

Happy Holidays!

If you are Nickle3DArt's patron you might want to point out that he is sabotaging his game by releasing so infrequently.

Devs build up hype around their games by making good releases, frequently. There isn't much advantage (publicity-wise) to releasing a 3000 image update vs a 600 image update, but releasing five times as often keeps your game on the front page of "Latest Updates" pages on F95 (and elsewhere) for far more time.

It's kind of crazy that a game of this quality only has a seven page thread.
Edit: and 9 paying patreons.

If Patreon is a lost cause, which it pretty much is for this game, Steam customers appreciate bigger updates much more than small ones. Especially if they are paying separately for each one. ;)

patreon isn't a sustainable source of income barring the most successful devs that have been in the industry for a long time. New devs are struggling for sure even if they put out a steam release, they may get a few thousand dollars if lucky, but in the long run that's not a lot of money either.

I am not a patron; I only purchased this game on Steam. From what I saw on the developer's website, it seems that they also provide services for other projects, which suggests they might not dedicate all their time exclusively to this game. In the past, I was a big supporter of Patreon and even backed up to 20 projects at the same time. However, I have since decided to step away from that kind of support and now limit myself to purchasing games on Steam.
