Yeah. This is one I will have to sit on for now I think. I was going through every update but lets face it, they are among the smallest for a game like this. I'm not saying that in a negative way really, but it is true. It's likely because of the input approach. There are hundreds of line just to check for responses and if it were a traditional choice system this game would have much, much more content.

The change log also makes it sound like they are bigger than they are as well. Like the last one for example, "v0.11.0 600+ new/updated images 3 new scenes". I noticed two new ones only because I hade a save before lunch, but on any playthrough the player would only see one because it's either or with the limited number of interactions available. It also looks like there would have been nothing new for a returning player because they happen before the end of the last update. That has happened twice now. The linear style sandbox is an issue, I think. It wouldn't be half as bad if you weren't limited to a single interaction per time slot. A brief conversation in the library doesn't take all afternoon.

Yeah, that is what takes the biggest amount of time and why my updates aren't exactly that big compared to other AVNs. The writing, thinking and testing of the inputs does take up a lot of time.

That's some good feedback, I'll rewrite the change log in the future to avoid any confusion, especially for returning players. Perhaps I'll add something as well to replay every event after you reach the end incase there were some that you missed.

That's fair. I'll keep that in mind with future scenes, because I can understand that some scenes feel rather short when if it happened in real life, they'd take only 15 minutes or so.
But right now I am working on some more one on one scenes, so they should feel and take longer in game, so it would make more sense for them to take an entire time slot. I'll be excited to hear what you think when it's out.

I'm curious how that would work. It sounds like an unlocked replay gallery to me. If it's just a "Hey here are some scenes you missed" it would break immersion, I think. At the very least if would break the story and continuity flow in a way. The player sees the scene but the actual series of events never happened in the playthough. That's how I see it in my head but I don't know your plans yet so I guess we will see.

Really looking forward to those one on one scenes. They have been lacking in the worst way with everyone with the exception of Kumi as has been brought up. It's very hard to spend time with a favorite because every scene is a "group activity" and the screen time is pretty uneven at the moment. And yeah, that was my point. Like the talk in the library with Rini and Amaya. That definitely wouldn't have taken the whole lunch period, unlike the scene with what I call the "main group".

Some side notes. There is a small inconsistency with Nori and lunch. If you aske her what the conversation was about you head to lunch and if you join them she says she though you weren't joining them as if the player said no. And not related to the game exactly, but are you using KK or KKS for this? I was going to aske before but it slipped my mind.

I think I'd probably just do for the couple of main events you can easily find, but just raw without any previous interaction taken into account. So just all the lunch scenes, so you aren't forced to reload, but you if your some suggestions, I'm all ears.

Yeah, I totally get it. You're not the first to bring it up, but it does take time to at least let you build some connection with characters that aren't already friendly towards you. I'd love to just let peopl enter their dorm rooms straight away, but a lot of them would just not fancy having someone they don't know that well in their room all alone.

I'll probably just not do the missed scenes thing if that were the case. It would be too much of a disconnect for me. As I said, the biggest issue is when the scenes take place. Almost if not all of the added scenes would have already happened. Nothing wrong with filling out the beginning but as it is now it almost forces a new playthrough just to see them. Unless they have an earlier save like I did. Though I did have to start over last time because it was so early into it. Having to not go with Kumi to see it. Most people would be well past that. Some new scenes that take place "after" the last update would give previous players something to actually do and give a sense that things are actually moving forward and I can't say that has been the case, so far at least.

I don't expect to go to their rooms or anything. It's more that things are moving ever so slightly forward with the actual character development. Things have to happen to actually get the ball rolling and nothing really has yet, if that makes sense. It's also a pretty stark contrast to other aspects of the game. The player can't stop by a girls room and check in or say what's up but they can grab them by the pussy with no negative reciprocations at all so far? It's not very balanced at all. The player needs to actually be given choices like that and they aren't really there. There are way more option to move things along by being a creep, just saying.

KKS may look and preform better but the plugins and general mods don't work half as well on KKS in my experience. If you were to change to KKS for whatever reason you wouldn't have to remake them at all. KKS will convert KK cards to work in the game. If you do then note the outdoor shoes are what gets copied over.

Ill think about the whole missed scene thing, I guess, and let you know.

Yeah, fair criticism. It's a hard thing to balance, because my focus is more on having a ton of replayability, so I guess you would be sort of forced to start a new playthrough to see everything even if that might put some people off that just want to get progress.

Yeah, I was thinking of adding that very soon, but it's such a time investment, because I have to take into account the numerous good excuses you could try and I can't write something if it would go against their character. Mana would pretty much believe anything you say, so it'd be hard to let you ring her doorbell without having to write/render a lot.

I wouldn't be too sure about that right now, things are happening even if you don't think they are. But to be fair, I do only let you do unteachery things to students who aren't going to get you fired and arrested straight away, mostly because realistically I'd have to write a game over if you decided to touch someone like Kirika.
I do get where you're coming from, the nicer options don't seem to have a big impact, but I've got some stuff planned for the next update that would hopefully dispel that.

Yeah, my friend switched from KK to KKS and said he did have to make some adjustments to his characters, because some things didn't carry over. But it's probably such a moot thing to do anyway. KK does everything I need so far.

Sure. Perhaps I'll do a little text at the end that tells you which scenes you haven't seen, so you at least know what you've missed.

I get it and that's kind of what I meant. The player can force things, but even then it's just in a sleazy sexual way. And with the whole dorm buzzer thing, that foot in the door I was referring too could have happened at least a little bit by now. The visit is just a waist of time because they either don't answer or pretty much just say "get lost. It may be different in the future but as of right now I don't actually know why it's there right now if nothing can even comes from it.

Yeah, I assume it will not go well "eventually", but at least with those scenes the immediate reaction shows that action has changed something, but with the nicer approaches the player can't even really tell because there is much less transparency to how they feel. They may be getting closer but who knows? Could be just them thinking he is a nice teacher, nothing more. They could think it's really sweet. Their reactions rarely change with the good actions so it leaves the nice guy players like myself feeling, I don't know, underwhelmed? Unmotivated? Stagnant? You could be progressing but it doesn't "feel" that way. Some mystery is a good thing, but so is making the player have a sense of progression and accomplishment.

Right now, it's really there, because when i was creating the actual map, I was in the mood for working on and trying out the more bothersome things like this, because they required a bit of extra work than just some script writing and rendering. But it's going to see use next update.

You could be progressing but it doesn't "feel" that way. Some mystery is a good thing, but so is making the player have a sense of progression and accomplishment.

But it's probably also an issue with a slow burn game, where the scenes that change a characters view from "He's a nice person to I actually like him." take a while, so you could be left with feeling like nothing has progressed.

Yeah, that's just been my experience so far. I do think though even a little subtlety would go a long way. Like the scene in Kumi's room if you hug her. She doesn't come right out and say it but the dialogue actually made me feel like I was getting somewhere.

"It's kinda nice to hug you again... even if we hugged recently..."
"It's comforting and different compared to hugging my friends..."
"Okay... t-that's enough hugging."

Any way you can share the RenPy source with ongoing updates or release for Android as well? Currently decompiling and recompiling as apk for Android because the win version isn't working in joiplay like most renpy games, but I keep getting missing asset files, and I'm guessing something isn't correctly decompiling

Which files are you missing exactly? Because I did delete all android-related code. But I will include the source in the next updates then if it's causing problems.

As of right now, its saying gui/phone/textbox.png, but it will occasionally have characters not loaded during conversations. Also, some of the menus can't close and I have to restart the app, but I'm guessing that part is designed for keyboard controls? Not sure how to map something like escape key to a button on-screen. Main example would be checking the characters folder on the main menu, no way to back out of that folder screen
