Cynical: Patreon count isn't growing much anyways even with updates so why work hard on it when it doesn't give you anything.
Not cynical: making the same game with a specific fetish and style for years is creatively exhausting and it's hard to make new scenarios for it that are fresh.
I think it's somewhere in the middle at least for Katalist since the last update was pretty bland and bug-ridden yet he's still drawing quite a lot.

Honestly at this point I hope the next piece of communication we hear from Teary is the update actually being released, I'd rather not get a date at this point just for them to blow past it again (for like the 5th time)
I assume he is going dark until he is ready to release. And it seems like the release is probably pretty imminent.

If you were to create a chart of release delays, updates, info drops, etc... And then do the same for TOT... You will find similar trends. Fact is, there's a method to the madness. It's just patreon milking, and considering the consistency of the patterns, it's likely the same person/team with multiple accounts. Add to the fact that another game comes out and delays compound even further...
