The thing that shows what a scam these games are is the fact that most of these devs don't finish the story before developing the game. A good story has a beginning, a middle and an end. Yet all these adult game devs just want some easy secondary income so they stamp out these games without a plan, a proper road map, to actually finish the game.
It's like a film studio filming a movie before they even finished writing the screenplay.

The biggest twist is that their previous game was the exact opposite: structured, meeting deadlines, clear objective where the story went and didn't drag itself out.

Well, I'll say that you don't ALWAYS need the writing done before starting. But you do really need a good, structured outline of the project. So you should have a good idea of the major plot points to hit, and general flow of the story but don't necessarily need all of the events (even main story events) figured out at the start.

Regardless, it's pretty obvious that they didn't (or at least no longer, it's possible Sierra Lee had one as the original writer) have a real outline or structure for the story besides the start and endings.

You're absolutely right and I could have elaborated further on my viewpoint. With movies, obviously you need to finish the entire script before filming. When making an indie game, as you pointed out, you at least need a proper outline. Your story needs a beginning, a middle and an end, even if you haven't finalized every scene and detail.

Overall you're right. A PLAN and communication with at the very least expectations of deadlines and the good will to communicate REAL issues with anyone that would be a potential interested customer/paying fan

Been following her solo project The Last Sovereign for years now and there's no way that project would still be keeping itself consistent (down to the smallest detail, as best I can tell) without an extensive plan going back to the beginning. I'm pretty sure this is all on the other guys.

In one sense, this vindicates everyone who said Sierra Lee was more than just a writer and the project would fall to pieces without her. But in another sense, the remaining team is estimated by Graphtreon to still be making somewhere between 1k and 4k USD per month, which is a pretty good side hustle/scam for people who only crap out one "significant" content update per year. So in a purely financial sense, that vindicates people who said Sierra Lee wasn't needed - they can probably keep milking this a long time, especially if they live somewhere that's a lot of money.

A cynical person might say Nomo and pals just used Sierra Lee long enough to get a strong start, because if you get a strong start you can get a critical mass of people who get drawn in without noticing the rate of progress, and rarely bother canceling their pledges. It's a tragedy for anyone who wanted to see another quality story from Sierra Lee, since the original ideas she had may never be realized, but hey, titties. Or something.

It's a scam in as-much as they should've abandoned the project several years ago.
The whole thing reeks of project mismanagement.
mismanagement was years ago.
they are fully aware they're running a scam now, which is only still possible based on the goodwill of supporters giving them money.

Well folks, no surprises to anyone here I'd think, but it's truly the bottom of the barrel now. Update is as follows:

Hey everyone.

While Nomo is dealing with some stuff and we wait for him to get through it, we've had some feedback from a few patrons and some suggestions.

What we're going to do while waiting is expand on some side-stuff and filler. There's a lot of stuff we have currently that we can make a lot more in-depth with already-existing assets. We'll look at expanding some of the Kullar bar stuff, make it possible to work there several times, have some expanding lines with patrons there and similar stuff like that. There's several assets and areas/spots that we can expand with this in mind.

We'll aim to have something out for you guys by the end of October.

Thank you for your patience and continued support.

The referenced "feedback from a few patrons" on Discord was things like, 'you have these assets you kept referencing, have you tried using them?' and others that boil down to 'why not use the assets to tell side stories'. Even they're calling it filler as they attempt to buy time.

Which wouldn't be any different to the last couple updates where they've clearly reused the same character poses stretched over multiple scenes. Aiming to have something out by the end of October might as well mean 2024, too.

Either those people on their discord read my comment here or my ability to predict the absolutely obvious is still sharp as ever.

Aside from the Kullar, they could still easily make scenes for the human brothel, the orc tavern and shops, random / friendly orcs in the camp, subordinates of the chosen captain and shaman, Neve or Bris, the tents in general and Sabia's new team. All of which can be done in a way to flesh out interactions and give flavor text to characters and places without narrowing future narrative options

I wish Nomo only the best and a full recovery from whatever is going on, and i wish the rest of him team to have had started working on this 4 months ago.

Thank you for keeping us updated.
