it was one of my favourite game around here hands down. just under Karryn's Prison and the Saria Reclaimed mod ( which is in development hell too ) .
bummer .
they want to do a text based sequel in the same universe a la Corruption of champions . LOL . . as if someone cared about reading erotica . LMFAO.
I mean they suggested it, but the audience "was overwhelmingly for a game with art " . yeah no shit.

I mean, there's a huge market for reading erotica. It's generally called "romance novels", along with the massive amount of fanfiction online (look up archive of our own to see how much text only smut fanfiction there is).

Remember, just because you don't like something doesn't mean no one likes it.

the artstyle itself is very AI friendly in terms of creating several instances of the same thing (clothing, environments, body proportions, etc) which means they could go that route with comparativley low effort and i think they know that as well. or they could find someone who is good at creating that, there are some real wizards out there.

But when i look at the comments, i get the impression that they wont do that... so it could be not just the MIA Artist.

Not saying anything for about two years is kinda sus tho.

Ive seen similar behavior from other indie devs, i think we all have.

once the cash is flowing, the actual work that gets done diminishes over time.

sad.

You sure about that? Cause a lot of the non-con stuff was removed after she left, especially the intro gangbang scenes. Plus her other games have non-con in it.

Sierra probably meaned the latter things in the story. Where Sabia has no choice.

On the girl/girl scenes you pretty much see Sierras influence even in the later story parts.

Too bad there's no way to stop the overpayment. Patreon donations work really badly due to people just throwing money even at a barely-alive dev with a few pretty pictures and promises.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure. Having been a longtime supporter of the game, I was a regular in their Discord for years and I'm currently still in Sierra Lee's Discord.
- The intro gangbang scene was removed because Patreon had a strict policy against non-con. Nomo was ordered to remove it.
-While she's not a fan of non-con, Sierra understands that a portion of her fanbase and target audience do enjoy it. Thus, she writes non-con in moderation. That's quite different from Nomo's and NDS's vision for the game which had the majority of sex scenes being non-con.

I wouldn't mind that, actually. But I have 0 trust for this writer and coder to actually be able to make a text based rpg. Then I have negative trust for them to be able to finish it. COC2 has been in development for 7 fucking years, with god knows how many people contributing to it.

Tbf, coc2 is crap BECAUSE so many people contribute. They just keep adding side-content/characters. If they had made it less of a community free-for-all and focused on finishing it instead of milking it, itd be done, and 10x better. SL can actually write decent plots and they've done plenty of text-only scenes. FINISHING, however, would probably only happen with Last Sovereign being done and not starting another project...

Well, I doubt that'll fix most of the issues, since the art didn't seem to be the main issue until Nomo went MIA. Both the coding and writing had issues with time and quality too.

Yes, primarily it was a lack of transparency, with decreased in quality of writing both in terms of dialogue and story (not all bad but abysmal by comparison) in addition to a plethora of unfinished ideas and concepts in both gameplay and "adventure" and lastly the art style did eventually degrade. I mean hope they can do something good but the last "update" was also kinda trash.

Guys, you know me enough by this point. You know that i don't like negativity for negativity's sake and so when i criticize something i make an effort to make it constructive and maybe a bit entertaining....

But can anyone come up with a reason why this new update post is not public?

"Hey, we found a promising new artist and we are starting a new project in the same world, but we will lock the post in order to avoid accidentally attracting new patrons or returning subscribers."

Anyway, if i were in their place, i'd make sure that the new project has a strong hook, smaller scale than KoD and no complicated extra mechanics.

Thanks for sharing the info with us! I checked LewdJoy's artstyle, they clearly seem to know what they are doing but their shading, to me, is not compatible at all with porn. The appearance of their characters' skin feels off and not inviting at all.
