Unity Completed Koikatsu Sunshine [BetterRepack R12] [Illusion]

Hello, i have a weird issue, related to .. save corruption and face bonemod ?

Here, i have this character, that work and look perfectly fine in studio / h-scene / character maker

When starting a new save, i go to this character (in the "overworld"), and well, everything work fine.

Then ..for whatever reason, after at least one night passed, and after doing something that i don't know of, the character become ... this

Which is the exact same face, the character have, when you load the card with "face bonemod" unticked. Thus, i believe there is an issue with bonemod, but i have no idea what this issue might be, for troubleshooting, i tried making a new save, and .. the character is perfectly fine, thus meaning that the issue doesn't seem to come from the plugin itself, but more from the save, which is very weird, i can hop between both save, and one have the face distorted, and the other don't. I have the "force high poly" plugin on "full", and accessory set to "all", changing these value does nothing to fix the issue. I also tried disabling the "bulge plugin" to no avail.

Does anyone have an idea as to why it happen ? I can't have my senran kagura harem island if some of them look inbred af, thank you

Sooo, when I'm playing koikatsu without mods its stable 30 fps, but if I try to add some of them char editor and the game (except main menu) starts lag like insane. Is it my potato pc or I'm doing sth wrong?

That unlocks all positions for all types. Some maps are limited in positions though.

I got the card through a link in the Card Sharing/Request Thread.
After I imported the card and corresponding mod,the model was loaded like this:

By the way,I found the missing part always occurred on the top body,especially the position around deltoid muscle.
I tried to change clothes type of top body and found the missing part somehow came back with some of other clothes.

Well. I think I managed some problems with lags, but now I have another. For example: I copied the yamadamod mod package into mods folder, but when I choose the skin in char editor it says I'm missing clothvariation3 and ymdtexture. In mod folder they are called clothvariation3 v1.1 and ymdtexture v2. I renamed them for proper names, but game still says I'm wrong. What am I missing?

The card works fine for me. However, I have installed the HF patch on top of BetterRepack. I recommend installing the HF patch because the latest versions of BetterRepack are buggy.

Hello everyone. Can anyone give me some advice, some tips on how to get rid of the "angular ass"? Almost every time I create a scene, I run into this problem. And almost always these are ass, which for some reason have pronounced angles (in rare cases, breasts). Maybe I should use some special shader?

I haven’t played Koikatsu Sunshine myself, so I can’t give you a definitive answer from direct experience. That said, I’ve spent a lot of time researching and following community discussions, so here’s a breakdown based on what I know.

Short answer: there’s not much difference between them in terms of pure H-scene gameplay. Go with the setting you like better — school (KK) or tropical island (KKS).


Now, a more detailed answer:

1. Community reception: Most comments I’ve seen across forums suggest the community leans slightly toward the original Koikatsu. Even looking at ratings, KK usually scores higher (around 4.0 versus 3.5 for KKS), possibly due to nostalgia or the more developed mod ecosystem.
2. Optimization and stability: Illusion’s optimization has never been a strong point — it’s kind of a running joke. Sunshine does use a newer Unity engine (2019.4.31f1 versus KK’s 5.6.5f1), but in practice, performance gains are small and often irrelevant if you’re just playing the base game. Illusion typically treats performance as a side effect, not a priority.
3. Mods and content: Both games have robust mod support and similar BetterRepack sizes (around 36–37 GB compressed), but older games tend to benefit from more mature and polished plugin ecosystems. In this sense, KK still has an edge.
4. Graphics: Sunshine does have improved lighting and shaders thanks to the updated engine. However, these improvements are most noticeable in the Scene Editor — which, as you said, isn’t your focus. For just playing, the difference is minor.
5. Card compatibility: KK and KKS use different card formats, so you can’t swap characters between them without conversion. Personally, I’ve stuck with KK because I have a collection of over 400 characters, about 50 of which I’ve edited carefully. Losing compatibility would be a hassle.
   

If you’re starting from scratch, though, it might be worth trying both games and seeing which vibe you prefer. The initial download is quick; what takes time is updating mods via KKManager — so you can skip that step during your test run and do it later if you decide to stick with one.

As a side note, I’d personally recommend keeping an eye on Summer Vacation! Scramble (SVS). It brings back some of the sandbox-style mechanics reminiscent of the classic Artificial Academy 2. I suspect many of the negative reviews stem from nostalgia or from the game being relatively young. Right now, lack of content is still an issue, but I was honestly surprised to see an Illusion game running that smoothly — it’s really well optimized. I don’t think it’s a strong investment for the present, but it’s definitely one to watch for the future.

In conclusion, there’s no big gameplay advantage for either version if your focus is on playing and enjoying H-scenes. Just choose the one whose setting you find more appealing. I’d also love to hear from someone who’s used both extensively — it’s a question I’m curious about too.

At that point I'd just say both given the general vibe/themes being different, just dont bother with the sideloader studio stuff. As far as characters go most can be transferred from KK to KKS with no effort, but anything using a custom KK based plugin wont work on KKS. (that's mostly patreon based custom content). Cards *can* be converted to KK from KKS, but requires a mod and maybe a little effort. I've never tried it tbh, I've only brought cards from KK to KKS since it does it automatically. Tried both base games, but don't play either base games anymore just KKS's base game for card testing. I only really use KKS now (for the studio I haven't used KK in a long while). For someone that already has a lot of time invested in KK I wouldn't bother changing games, but for new users it just comes down to which esthetic you like more.

For cards I would just browse from here and grab however many you want. Check the comments, cards with custom plugin requirements will usually have complaints or mention of it. You can usually find alt versions without those requirements in a lot of cases. For anything specific just type whatever into the tags or keywords filter. For KK you'll want to filter out sunshine cards, but for sunshine you can grab whatever and it should work, you'll just need to change bathing because most KK cards just have school outfits on that slot.

Best advice I can give is to only download cards that have a link to the mods in their descriptions. If the mods are missing it's often a bootleg card and mods are behind a paywall on patreon.
