It works on both versions, including the KK Party version on Steam. It's like the "Optional Sideloader" for HS2, which also works for AI-Shoujo.
So, I think you need all the mods, probably you are trying to load a character with green clothes, which clothes come with the mods, so it can't find the necessary clothes so it crashes. Btw this just a assumption, if you can load characters you made with game , then it is definitely due to missing mods
I’m not sure. I can load 2–3 cards, but the game crashes when I try to load the 4th or 5th one. One of the characters I managed to load gave a bunch of missing mod errors, but the game didn’t crash. On the other hand, some cards that don’t contain any mods and can be made with the vanilla version of the game caused the game to crash. For some reason I can load 2–3 cards, but after that, the game crashes.
My assumption is, your pc can't handle it. Could be out of memory error crashing your pc. Just take saves before loading other characters, for now.

That all depends on if you are going to be using charastudio. The optional pack is only for that it adds nothing to the base game.

Search this thread, someone shared it, there was some follder5 called mods or something, you put it there. Put I see some guy says you don't need it for the cards, idk some other guy told me I needed them for cards, that's why I added them. I don't have 100% true info.
