I haven't played since the last stable release back in August and have been too busy to check out the development updates, so I figured I'd wait for the next major, stable release, which was supposed to come out by now. I remember seeing Starbuck mention around Christmas time but still nothing yet.

Nothing is really new - except the real (good) videos in the mod. Story-wise, almost nothing has changed for years...

Nope, they have no current use. It's best to select higher max stats when creating a new world that way stats cap at 10 instead.

I forget that that was even an option. I've been working on this save for a while.

TBH starting over seem pretty daunting, given how long it's taken to get all this research done.
