I don't think it was ever OFFICIALLY canceled by the dev, no 100% confirmation right from the horse's mouth, but considering how long it's been since any update on the game... Generally safe to assume it's been abandoned by now, I'd say. There's certainly a possibility of a return, but I wouldn't hold hope out for it.
Updates on ASIMOFU, since I'm not sure if anyone has done this lately:
Going from their twitter, apparently late last year ASIMOFU had a relative (or multiple? not sure, MTL is fucky) pass away. Took about a month for that, then in late January said something along the lines of "Now that we've taken a step back, it's time to get moving", though said "It takes a certain amount of determination to throw yourself into sexually explicit creation in this state of mind" after.
Afterwards, in August, they apparently got Covid which knocked them out for a bit.
As of last communication on Twitter, September 14th, they said "I made an impossible mistake and lost something very precious again". This could be referring to the game, or real life, not sure which.

damn shame... game was really fun and good for a short demo !
Do you happen to have a more comprehensive guide on how to uncensor the game, I can't for the life of me figure how to make this work. I dropped one of the plugin files into the BepInEx folder along with the cheat files, the unitycrashhandler I'm using is x32

General sentiment from what I've seen here is no. It's not. We don't know for sure either way, but I'm inclined to agree that it's not until I am pleasantly surprised.

Until update comes in the form of an actual new game version and not an update post saying they're alive or tweet, I consider this game dead for now as we're in currently the longest period of nothingness.
Thus it's best to leave this thread alone till someone posts about it.

As so then the next post made on this thread is one that says "update with new content has arrived" as constantly posting here only serves to give hope to those who watch the thread, to only to be disappointed when they see it's another post expressing hope for the game which has already been posted most likely 100+ time prior at this point.

I guess you missed the bit I said of "with new content has arrived" as we've had many updates like that with no content updates in between them. So it seems all that is happening to the Dev is misfortune....or that's what they are telling us...since there comes a point of where you have to call it and go "I can't develop this anymore till I'm ready to race, so I'm on hiatus until then, see you in maybe 5 years".
Same should also go for also us watching this where the thought comes in of "did they long ago drop development and are instead just posting bad things going on in their life to give reason to why they haven't put out a new update, just so some people keep giving money?". (Reminder, Ci-en has a patreon like system from what I understand)
So please unless an new content update releases that we can play, hold your peace?

Though honestly considering how infrequently ASIMOFU communicates at all, I feel like pretty much anything coming from them (assuming it's either life circumstances or development related) deserves to get posted here.

At risk of being a pedantic fuck, I wouldn't say I'm reviving the thread when most of my posts (especially recent ones) are in response to or at least caused by someone else posting before me.

This thread is supposed to be about the game, or the development of this game. Even though the developer's health post is public, I don't think it's appropriate to discuss his personal or health issues and turn it into a dirty reality show.
