Writing the final update brings me so much joy!
The game entered its second testing phase last
Friday and was returned to me already. This quick turnaround is thanks to the amazing work of my testers, for which I’m incredibly grateful.
Now, we’re down to the last two animations. These are currently being rendered and should be complete by Friday or Saturday. They contain a large number of frames, so the process takes some time.
All other game functionalities have been thoroughly tested and proofed, including grammar, so things are looking
fantastic! All that’s left is to wait for these animations, update the relevant scenes, and upload the game ahead of its release.
With that said, I’m excited to unveil the release plan for
Law School - Episode 2:
Just like before, the game will release in tiers, with higher-tier supporters getting early access. Here’s the schedule:
- December 4th: $20 tiers and above
- December 11th: $10 tiers and above
- December 18th: $5 tiers and above
Since I was ahead of schedule, I also created the
Law School page on
Steam, which is now under review. I managed to complete all the assets in about a day—rendering, editing, and finalizing them. I was surprised by how quickly it came together, especially considering how much time I spent on Photoshop for
The Entrepreneur. It seems I’ve improved over the last 15 months! I will post it here once it's been accepted, so you can go and wishlist it, as it helps me a great deal.
Now, onto some
less exciting news.
The changes I’ve made to
Facegram have unfortunately caused compatibility issues with
Episode 1. Specifically,
old save files will no longer work. Ideally, I’d suggest starting from scratch, skipping to where you left off, and continuing from there. However, there’s an additional issue: my persistent files were
unexpectedly reset. This means testers couldn’t skip seen text and had to use the option to skip
all text, including
new content added to
Episode 1. While their persistent files remained intact, this might affect you when you want to replay the first episode. You’ll need to enable skipping unseen text but will likely miss out on some of the new additions.
I admit this setback has been
frustrating. After consulting with other devs, I’ve realized that such issues are almost inevitable when releasing a game episodically. While I could’ve tried and implemented a screen to let you manually select previous choices, it would’ve been impractical in my case and created problems for future episodes. I’ve decided to focus on building a solid foundation for the future and will do my best to prevent this from happening again.
So I'll say it again, do not play from your old saves or the game will crash.
Now, onto some fun statistics! Here are the official numbers for
Episode 2:
- Story statics: 2,365
- Animations: 69 (excluding blinking animations)
- Script lines: 13,000
- Facegram roams: 3
- Mini-games: 3
- LEWD scenes: 5
- Custom unlockable renders: 15
Total for the game so far:
- Story statics: 5,467
- Animations: 140 (excluding blinking animations)
- Script lines: 34,000
- Facegram roams: 7
- Mini-games: 6
- LEWD scenes: 11
- Custom unlockable renders: 23
- Soundtrack: 104 songs
I’m incredibly proud of these numbers. I’ve also created around
70 images for Facegram profiles and posts. The game is now bigger than
The Entrepreneur, which feels like a huge accomplishment! While
Episode 2 was meant to be slightly smaller than
Episode 1,
Episode 3 is set to be even bigger than the first episode.
For now, I won’t dive into plans for
Episode 3. I want to focus on delivering
Episode 2 first. There won’t be an update next week since the game releases on
Wednesday, but rest assured, I’ll still be working. Even when I try to take time off, I find myself drifting back to work almost unconsciously—lol. I’ll share more about
Episode 3 in two weeks.
That wraps up this final progress update for
Episode 2.
I now realize that the first episode was released on
May 24th, and that this second episode has officially been marked as "complete and ready for release"
only six months later. I've worked incredibly hard to make this happen, probably racking around
2000 hours of work, and I believe the effort speaks for itself. I hope you’ll keep this in mind when I’m deep into the development of
Episode 3!
I’m so excited to bring you the game next week, and I deeply appreciate your continued support.
Time to get back to work, but in the meantime, I wish you all a fantastic week!
