Hello everyone,
Last week was pretty productive, with a lot happening during the development of this third episode.
First of all, thanks to the help of someone on Discord, I've been upgrading several character skins and transitioning them from G8 to G8.1. If you're unfamiliar with these terms, it basically means I've upgraded the characters to a newer generation of 3D models, which offers better skin quality and more assets, particularly for facial expressions, where G8.1 really shines. I'm very happy with this upgrade since it's something I probably wouldn't have done myself. The difference in skin quality is like night and day. I'd love to share some pictures, but I haven't rendered them yet as my queue is currently busy.
Speaking of the queue, I'll be building the third rig tomorrow or Wednesday, as the final component is set to arrive tomorrow. It's a bit late, about a month behind schedule, but at least I'll finally have that third rig ready to work!
I'm really looking forward to getting the new rig up and running, especially since I'm going to receive new animations from the animator I work with and created a couple myself.
On the topic of animations, I'm now working on the final scene of DAY 2 in the game, which also happens to be a lewd scene. That means even more animations are on the way. I'm particularly excited about this one because I feel my creativity and skills have improved, and I have some ideas that, if I can make work, will result in an incredible scene. I've planned 11 different animations for this scene, though the total might go up to 16 or 17 depending on how many angles I decide to render for each animation. (Yeah, I know, I'm a bum dev and I'm really milking the animations.)
Now, for some numbers:
- 642 static story images
- 26 animations
- 14 scenes fully written
While this might seem like a slower week in terms of output, it certainly didn't feel that way. Almost every render I've created has been complex, requiring significant time to pose. In my opinion, they turned out great. Let's say I made 105 quality renders this week. I also completed two more animations and am now working on the final scene of DAY 2, so overall, it's been a solid week. All of this has been accomplished in just five weeks, which is very encouraging. I believe I'm making good progress.
Unfortunately, DAY 4 and DAY 5 each contain a massive scene, so I'll be stuck working on those for quite a while.
On another note, I'll be away for four days next week due to unforeseen events, so I'll only be able to work on the script during that time. It's not such a bad thing since the render queue is already getting quite large, and I could use a short break from 3D work. Stepping back for a few days always helps me return refreshed and more productive.
