I looked at some of the stuff that was changed, it basically messes with how I interpret some scenes but it's simple enough just not to use it if I don't want to.

That first example, where Rose is asking Lana how the kiss went. It's the first hint that Rose might be interested in him because she's curious what kissing the MC is like. She teasingly uses best friend, as is done in some humorous situations from time to time on sitcoms and other shows. Swapping it for brother tosses the humor out and just makes it sound taboo, which is the intention of the patch in the first place.
Personally I'm not interested in that, but for those who want the extra spice of incest with Rose then go for it I guess. The biggest impact and how the ipatch could come unstuck is in Rose's future romantic path. While I'm sure that there will be some apprehension on both Rose's and the MC's part about how taking that step could potentially damage or ruin their friendship. I don't think that it will go far enough to cover the incest taboo and especially other's reactions to it, but whatever.

Agreed. I think it's just gonna end up being a lot of work for whoever wants to maintain it in the future.

It's too soon for a patch like that anyway, there's no real lewd content with Rose in season 1 so even in a world where she's your sister, nothing really changes that makes the effort worth it, imo.

I would also think that Rose kissing MC in episode 1 (even if she's drunk) would already cause much more of a reaction from their friends if they were siblings.

I guess some people are over reading the game  Why characters should be related to each others?
Probably because of the extra taboo and because incest in fiction to many people (including me) is hot. It should make sense however with the story and how characters interact with eachother and those that are supposed to be family if they were indeed related.

For me, there are at most 1 or 2 moments where I thought it would make more sense if they were brother and sister instead of best friends (one of which is their reaction when they find out they don't share a room), but overall it their connection just make more sense if they are indeed best friends and not related.

No I didn't, Tony mentioned that
Ah, my mistake. The point still stands, though, I don't see how MC's foster parents talking to Jordan would undermine the patch.

Also it wouldn't really make sense if that only Connor would get a letter from Erin if they were supposed to be blood related
True, that would challenge the notion of relation if Rose were left out. For me, the direction of the next episode will determine if a patch is reasonable.

I would also think that Rose kissing MC in episode 1 (even if she's drunk) would already cause much more of a reaction from their friends if they were siblings.
That's fair. I structured the AI prompt to avoid more involved scene re-writes because otherwise had a tendency to completely change directions of scenes and invent memories in the dialogue, referencing made-up plot points, lol. A more involved manual rewrite could address that, but I'll wait for the next episode before deciding to continue.

Why does Rose need to be MCs sister?
Why characters should be related to each others?
They don't need to be related. Again, I decided to make the patch because I was picking up strong "What are you doing, step-bro?" cop-out vibes in my first 15 minutes in the story and thought "Oh, they're probably meant to be related but it's censored."
I didn't make the patch with hindsight of the narrative and how plot points would unfold regarding MC's real parents.

I'm not saying it's canon, it's just my first impression of what made the most sense and seemed to flow better for the first 20% or so of the first episode.

If it looks feasible in the future, I may continue and improve it. If the plot moves to a point where it no longer makes any sense and it would require a large, extensive rewrite to force a blood relation, then I'll abandon it

I wonder... MC already met 2 people from The Entrepreneur... I'm curious what Connor's and Rose's reactions will be if they also get to meet Alexa thanks to Miranda (probably, but could also be in another way). My guess is that they would almost get a heart attack :HideThePain:

Lana got her hair done by Laura too. I know that doesn't count as "MC meets" but feel like it should be tossed in.

To be honest, I never really played The Entrepreneur past the beginning or so. I just couldn't get into the story, so I just speedrunned it for the achievements. I really need to give it a second try.

I didn't even know that Laura also was a nod to that game. Is Francesca Stanson (the name Danielle mentioned) also a character from that game?

Don't remember that name being in the Entrepreneur.

I looked in the script and there is no mention of a Francesca or Stanson in the first game...

Danielle says that Stanson is a common name, however that isn't the case in the Portland area where this game takes place (at least in the real world), it's even considered a rare surname. It's also not common in the entire state of Oregon. That makes me think that she just uses it as an excuse. I wonder who that Francesca is and if there is in fact a connection with Aurora

The latest patreon version still has the messed up one too. So did 3.5 & 3. I had to go back to a Episode 2 version to find it. Looks like the messed up one got back into MisterMaya's main file, not the corrected one.
Thanks, you may want to consider zipping it though, so that you're actually sharing the original image instead of one that's converted to avif.

My money is on Aurora's mom. Since I'm bored, I replayed the roll call and typed it here so I can jump to it in the future. Kinda surprised the phone doesn't include last names though I suppose that takes some of the sting out of surprises like Vicky. I wish I had quick access to the scene in Danielle's class when Francesca gets mentioned so I could see exactly what was said.

Edit- Thanks to Milton, good chance it's not the mom.

A "I'm Aurora Stanson."
D "Say, you wouldn't happen to be Francesca's daughter?"
A "Huh ... No."
D "Huh."
D "Then again, Stanson is a pretty common name."

My money is now missing. Not a good day to place a bet.

Either Aurora lied (which isn't likely in this scenario), specifically answered the question (and we find out it's a sister or aunt later), or it's a completely unrelated person and ends up being a joke that fell flat.

From what I've seen and reviewed, Rose's parents in the game are not referenced at all beyond:

Code:
MC "{i}This is the teddy bear her mom bought her when she was little and their dog passed away."
Code:
Rose "I'm going to call my parents, tell them we're safe and sound."
and maybe one more time where Rose mentions calling her mom or dad.

There's nothing to patch yet. A future patch would add dialogue in the next episode to fill in the gap of how Rose had responded to her own letter. For now, it's plausible enough for the patch that MC picked up and read his letter first.

Not sure what you're talking about here.
Neither Rose's parents nor MC's parents are ever speaking to Jordan Peters, and Mike's biological parents are never mentioned.
Jordan's name appears once in episode 2.
The art exhibition? Mike's dad, Jordan, is not talking to Rose's parents. He's talking to Christian -- Samara's father.

Indeed. It's entirely possible that the potential for a patch -- without a significant narrative overhaul -- falls apart completely in season 2.

However, I still stand by the position that the dialogue stiff labeling of MC and Rose's relationship comes off as unnatural in the vanilla game -- at least less natural than it seems in a context of siblings.

Read the following examples and you tell me which versions feel more natural.

You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
In terms of the parent stuff, I was intending (not very well, admittedly) to reference that there's a fair bit of talk about MC's parents and him being adopted, and his foster parents are also spoken about, but Rose doesn't really have that and it would be a bit weird to have it for one but not the other. With the letter, the whole scene would feel weird to me if it was just MC getting a letter if they were siblings, or even if they got separate letters and we just never saw Rose's.

For the question you ask about which sounds more natural... I disagree with your sentiment. The patched dialogue feels natural enough, yes, but then so does the original. I don't find anything awkward in the original dialogue that feels out of place in the context it's being used. Also, as a slightly unrelated note, I have nothing against patches like this in general, but I dislike it when they add additional content - here I noticed a couple of additional lines of dialogue being added. As soon as that starts to happen, you run the risk of changing the dev's vision (other than the obvious relationship change) and potentially causing issues later down the line. Even if it's just a case of having a different writing style to the dev, so every so often a line sticks out a bit because it feels different to the rest of the dev's writing.

Yeah, it's pretty unlikely she lied about that (unless there's a reason she doesn't want people to know). The 'huh' would indicate she was confused by the question, rather than a trying to hide something.
