I'm also looking forward to that VN, specifically the Charlotte route which was my favorite of the first one.
It was also a well-done route. I liked how Charlotte's "ditziness" ended up being less of a core personality trait and more a coping mechanism in response to how people had treated her all her life. I also really liked the way the route ended with the MC and Charlotte going off to travel the world together. That ending reminded me of my great aunt. She had a lifelong "roommate" (yep, they were roommates...who happened to end up owning a house together), another lady teacher. They traveled to many different countries across several continents over -- I like to think that they were able to truly be able to be themselves when they were far away from home safely away from small town gossips.

I wonder what a route with Francesca or Albertine would've been like. I imagine either one would have been spicier and bumpier than the other routes, but it would probably turn out that they were only cruel and conniving because their family was in desperate straits and they were only doing what they had to do in order to help them . I'm not sure I could fully believe that in Francesca's case.

by yuri do you mean 2d visual novels in the japanese style? or just lesbian novels?
Just lesbian novels. I'm mainly interested in good writing: stories that grab me and characters I can end up caring about. The visual style and following genre conventions aren't as important to me. I play both 2D and 3D games personally.

it would be nice as a community to join together to classify the games, maybe by how much lesbian content they have, how easy it is to avoid men, to easily distinguish games that are totally lesbian, etc. so we would make it easier for people looking for lesbian games and discover the ones we didn't know.

but for now something that people can also do is also search in the thread of the game.

for example, I don't know if the game that user is talking about is “Jessincheck” since I don't see another name more similar to the one they put, but if you search for the word “lesbian” in their thread you can see that people are saying that there is practically no content at all.
I think I suggested something similar back when I realised the old list was dead but before finding this continuation, but I don't think I went too in-depth in describing it, and I didn't want to pick up extra work for myself, to be frank.

My thought was to rate each game as Purely Lesbian, Significantly Lesbian, or Barely Lesbian, then maybe have some extra tags for if there are unavoidable dicks or if it's gender-swap MC because those are deal-breakers for some people. Maybe have a reject pile as well for games that have only 1-2 token scenes so they don't get re-suggested all the time, as I imagined "Barely Lesbian" as still being worth trying but where it isn't the focus - think, a full-lesbian playthrough is possible but with no variation, or if there's a few love interests but it isn't enough to cover a full playthrough or is dwarfed by other options.

I think that selection covered most of what people would be looking for, and any dealbreakers, but without excluding games that had what I'd broadly refer to as a good lesbian vibe on most paths, but that throws in a stupid mandatory hetero scene or something.

You know I'm genuinely confused why the first thing i see on a lesbian game comment section is some peoples asking for a "Male Protagonist" WHEN IT IS A SHOW ABOUT FEMALE MC AND IT IS A LESBIAN GAME FANFIC. I don't understand humanity. Sometimes I wish I'm not even human. If there is a word that say "Bisexual" then it is fine, but why are they keep trying to ruin a niche. Only "Bisexual" Game are fair games for peoples to rant about sexuality.

On another note, Praise the chad Dev for saying no to "Give us Male MC" Anon.

Many people still don't know what a lesbian is. It's always okay to ask if you're confused, you know...

Most of the tags are unwarranted (doidera would say it better than me). I certainly wouldn't mind more curators joining us but they'd have to be extremely motivated... Half of the games posted fail the "females only" check (they're still welcome, obviously, but they still aren't what most of us - if not all - are after).
Sometimes it makes me angry how they use the lesbian tag, like what I just read in another game to the dev saying that he put it to say that during threesomes (with men) women have "some" interaction with each other.

I know that our sexuality is a joke for them, but for that shit they should use a threesome-group tag.

How does this format help to avoid unwanted content? I've used it for a few of my favourites (and 1 game I don't like).

Just post this when someone shows up in a lesbian protagonist thread and asks for a male protagonist (or male love interest).

I just hate it whenever I go to a lesbian protagonist game's topic and the first page is full with moronic users that whine it's lesbian, or wish it wasn't lesbian. I don't understand why their crap comments aren't removed as offtopic.

Magical Girl Luna appears to be pure lesbian (I haven't finished the game, so I can't be 100% sure, but so far I haven't seen any required scenes with guys), although it appears that no actual sex occurs onscreen

Another thing that I've been meaning to do for a while, but never gotten around to (although this time because it could come off as overly cunty); My short answer to this is that it's just the tip of the Basic Guy's Porn Tastes flowchart. They want: A Male MC added; To fuck [specific female character who isn't appropriate in the story - usually incest]; To fuck every female character; To have a harem; To remove the NTR; To remove the Gay content; To remove the Female MC; To remove any scene where a female character even talks to a guy that's not MC. Complaints mostly come up in that order, but it's been a while since I've browsed here significantly, so I might be missing a step.

They generally don't consider that other people have tastes different to them or have different plans for their story/game/whatever (in fact I've seen them tell people to change their game just because the market for their changes is bigger and the female MC is a waste of time, even in a story with a lot of shared scenes and asset/image reuse...). They also probably don't even realise they're doing this, but it's a pretty consistent trend, when I've looked back at posting histories. They're also... frankly kinda dumb (hence why they ask for stupid changes like putting a random guy in) and there is more of them, so there's less barriers to speaking up and more people who might talk about it.

I do have some minor sympathies for them, as frankly, there's an absolute slew of complete dogshit cash-grab games aimed at the Basic Guy. So, because oddities stand out, it can seem like all [gay, furry, female, etc]-centric games are amazing, because you found the one released that week with decent production values, after wading through 30 shitty AI generated cash grabs aimed at you, and ignoring out-of-hand a handful of crappy ones made for alternative markets. I've also seen the odd exception that proves the rule - e.g. people wanting a female version of Max in Max The Elf, because that actually draws closer to being for "basic guys" in that genre, but is also closer for female protag fans.

That said... I can't really say I care. I go through the forum pretty regularly and can't just filter out [male protag] because I also like gender swap stuff. If I had their tastes, I'd be happy as a pig in shit. The biggest games all seem to cater to them pretty directly (most likes/popularity/most Patreon earnings) and even ones with female protagonists seem to cater to them (if they can get over the cooties they get from having to play as a girl for a bit). Pretty much every male protag game without the gay or transformation tags, and a solid 1/2 to 2/3 of the female and futa ones, are squarely aimed at them. The odd passion project that somehow squeaks through just doesn't really make up for the deficit; Maybe that passion does make up for a lot, but it's nothing like having a decent budget.

anyway that's the end of my ramble about that topic this year.

Magical Girl Luna appears to be pure lesbian (I haven't finished the game, so I can't be 100% sure, but so far I haven't seen any required scenes with guys), although it appears that no actual sex occurs onscreen
IIRC, basically yes. The only exception I remember is one enemy which is actually a tentacle one (it's the one inside the bear) and possibly some of the bad-end-dungeon ones (haven't tested them all - mostly animated objects though). The tentacles and a couple of other enemies (e.g. the Nurse boss) do come kinda close, but yeah, the lack of "actual sex" is one of the few things that saddens me about the game.

You forgot asking to add futa.

It doesn't just come to people not understanding others might have different tastes, but some are also, and very unfortunately unable to differenciate fiction from reality, and think their tastes fetishes should be a reflection of what hey like or dislike in real life.

And in extension to that, feels like they should be able to self insert in the stories/games.

RWBY is a perfect example of that

So, I'm curious how useful this format is:
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.
Because it wasn't very thought out, honestly...

How I structured "only lesbian? lesbian focus? is sex with men completely avoidable? how much lesbian content?" seems redundant, and what people really want to know is if the FF content is the only content, most content, half the content, minor content, and how hard it is to avoid FM, and maybe what the protagonist's canonical orientation is (some readers here may prefer a purely lesbian protagonist over a bi or pan female protagonist... and game where the FF content is forcing a straight female protagonist into FF is... like weird?). If it has unavoidable FM on all routes, it shouldn't be recommended here. So "is sex with men completely avoidable?" was a kinda stupid way to put it.

So, what do you think about changing it to:
You don't have permission to view the spoiler content. Log in or register now.

Honestly, I think the first format is good.
A lot of games with lesbian content have het content too, so knowing in detail what to expect is good.
And I don't think nowing the protagonist orientation is important.

Games here are for lesbian protagonist, so either she is actually bi, pan, curious is irrelevant. If she's purely heterosexual, then the game won't be listed here. And she's bi or whatever else, what actually matter is if M/F content is avoidable and how much there is.

And take a game like Naughty Lyanna, how would you define her sexuality? In the first season, she's bi, but het content can be completely avoided. In the second season, she can be full lesbian (to the point she clearly states she has no interest in men, same for some other characters) and still tease men.

Nah, it's just that Max makes them question their sexuality and they simply can't handle that. I mean damn even I'm a little straight for that twink.

Well, there were several rants on this thread about this exact topic. For some people it's a real turn off if mc talks about a man they like, or liking men in general.

Also, Naughty Lyanna is an exception, and it's details can be simply put in brackets next to orientation.

Let's be honest, there's never going to be a way to categorize the list that satisfies everyone. For example, I'm fine with trans women but others don't care for it. Hell, some get obsessed in a fetishized way and others get obsessed in a pissy, stand-offish way. Lock those two in a thread together and watch the mods weep! It's much better to just have (somewhat) broad, overall categories and individuals self-select from there. The current criteria are fine, tighter than the lesbian tag on its own and anything more specific can probably be found out in the games' individual threads themselves.

My preferred method is to go by developers first. Find someone who does it right and follow their work output religiously. Then again it's not very good since I've only got and ...

categorizing is not about recommending series, but just describing their content a little better, each person chooses what appeals to them the most.

In the case that you put, transwomen is not put as something negative or positive, it is simply mentioned so that those who do not like it simply know at once that maybe they will not like that game, and those who are looking for that kind of games can find them more easily.

Well, that's more or less how I think about it

My preferred method is to go by developers first. Find someone who does it right and follow their work output religiously. Then again it's not very good since I've only got and ...

x2 I would also put ebi-hime (although their novels are almost always kinetic), but sadly there are still very few devs, and unfortunately they don't always release yuri games.

Unfortunately, it is still not enough to satisfy the hunger.

We could start by doing some basic categorizing at first and than doing some more thorough describing
for example
1. Games that are focused only on yuri like Kindred Spirits on the Roof or Missy
2. Game that have male and female MC but lesbian route is ''distinguished'' like for example Mythos where chosing female MC will make game lesbian only or Toro 7 where you can choose between straight female or lesbian female MC
3. Could be for games that have female MC with choices that have decent enough lesbian content like Rise of the White Flower for example
4. Is like 3 but game is obvious cock fest with only a handful of lesbian scenes

I'm going to make a Google Sheet for this. My analytical/categorical self can't take it anymore.

Did it:

There's probably some pieces missing or things someone might want that someone else might not. I made it fully accessible/editable and pre-populated with Cboy's existing list details (except all 2D are Anime and 3D are DAZ... since there's no delineation in OP). But I feel like this covers a lot.

Feel free to update data. This can be as good or not good as anyone updating it. I updated my own game (Erisa's Summer) as an example.
Please don't change columns or validation rules. If you want to argue a change, have it as a discussion here, please.

Neat! Not sure how much I can add because I have real problem of actually following through to- hell, even one ending let alone all of them. Still, I'll slap in what I can.

For column changes; "Is the Protagonist interested in men, women, or both?" is a bit odd. For example, Toro 7 lets the player pick their character's gender and sexuality right at the start and some (I wanna say The Hero's Journey?) let your character choose over the course of the game. So is the prompt going by maximum or minimum degree of options? Like, are we looking for how many orientation options it has overall or how specifically lesbian the player can make it?
