I never get why do you guys calling it an absolute clone. I mean, there are like thero simmilarites between then except they both are using most popular free assets

For real, I wish there would be more LiL clones, because I like how LiL is, and LiL without Selebus sounds even better. But nobody even tried (maybe except SO, I haven't played it yet for my reasons)
Idk man, based on your comment I looked into my files and I still had Lost in You installed, so I tried taking a look because maybe it is a true injustice? No shit, first save I load there's a disembodied entity called Sekai waiting for me at the rooftop.

Now, I'm not about to dissect similarities because, again, I didn't like the game and barely remember it. I'd have to replay it in order to do that, and it simply didn't appeal to me. I will say though that the reason I didn't like the game had nothing to do with it being similar to LiL or anything like that, but because I had glaring issues with the plot.

I will offer an example from what I do remember. Specifically, there is this one event where dude goes:

And if you read the ramble, that's the problem with taking inspiration from a piece of work that is much more than assets, themes, and imagery. Cause in terms of game design, this one is probably better than LiL. But LiL is what it is because it excels in writing, and if you take inspiration from something then it's gonna be compared to that. And yeah, the writing isn't good here (although it's clearly trying to be). That's the issue for me, because this isn't a story about Akira, it's its own thing more or less and if the story was compelling I'd be super happy about it. But it's not good enough to be taken seriously, and it isn't silly enough to be taken lightly - at times, being perfectly honest, it reads like fanfiction.

Now, this is my take - if someone enjoyed the game, more power to them - I spent time in it, and I sure wish I had. Hell, I wish we had 30 more Lost in Yous, cause if we did, chances are I'd enjoy some of them myself. So I hope the author finds success in his game, and that his writing skill continues improving.

Fuck that game and it's developer. Honestly, save yourself the waste of time, the game is abandoned cause the cunt dev was arrested for being a cunt, the game had already started to derail after 'the merger' and in the end with the last version, there's only a handful of characters that have sex scenes and most of them are boring. So in summary you get to play a broken story that fails to pay off even before it hits a dead end, bugger all sexiness, and the knowledge the shit you're consuming was made by inhuman scum... still interested?

Well, I don't know what to add here... Do you maybe know what does Sekai mean?

This is basically what my reasons are, yes

Small question. I'm replaying the game and I don't remember this detail at all.

There was a reason Rin and Futaba switched school districts and they'd prefer not to tell Sensei. Was this ever addressed later and I forgot about it or is this an abandoned plot point?
I don't recall. But I'd suggest taking a look at Nodoka talking about defending Futaba in her old school. As well as Futaba talking about her parents. There might be something there. As for Rin, I have no idea.

As for it being an abandoned plot point, it depends. It has been hinted that Futaba might be connected to Nodoka's family, and her family seems important to the plot of the upsidedown house. We might learn something that concerns Futaba in relation to that.

World. But I fail to see your point, as I included many other references, but you're only talking about this one. Please elaborate, maybe I missed what you mean.

I know I'm a lurker, and god knows I do also have my problems with this game that lives in my head rent free, but you do realize there isn't a LiL or a LiL to clone without Selebus, right?

Yes, I agree with that as well. You could have cutting-edge graphics and the best game design on the market, the same themes and overall imagery, and at most you'd probably get a good porn game (which I'd play and probably have fun with btw). Or idk, something people would say "It's like higurashi or steins;gate, but with sex" or something like that.

Now, there are certainly very competent writers out there - but would there be very competent writers up to write this kind of story in the adult games genre? I'm not so sure. I hope there are. I wish for more games like this one in terms of writing. However, Selebus (the writer Selebus - not his persona or game designer) is the very reason the game is good, you take him out without a proper replacement and you get crap.

You werebasically saying that
1) There is a deity in LiY named Sekai, who was on the roof under strange circumstances (he was altering the world)
2) There is a character in LiL named Sekai, who was on the roof under strange circumstances (we have no idea why)
3) This makes LiY clone of LiL

Do I actually need to see other references, if first one is a garbage?

I get that you don't like the game, sure. Does it somehow proves that game is LiL clone? No. Neither does similar UI or even game icon.

I originally downloaded this game over a year ago because I thought it was a porn game. Having played though the first two chapters twice and gotten all caught up, I'm not sure I'm even willing to call this a porn game anymore?

It's a narrative that can only be told via the medium of a porn game in the same way that Understanding Comics MUST be written as a comic in order for it to make any kind of sense.

Well not not when you order them in such a way that it seems LiL is copying LiY. Also look at LiL next to LiY!

Of course it's a clone!

Its not "similar" its the same.A character model in the left of the screen, evennt and replay windows bottom right,The significance of the rooftoop(although you can techically call it a moot point) AND the use of Sekai. You can say that using the name Sekai isnt a copy paste, and you would be right. The problem comes when all of these things combine.

So, what you are saying is that any game with UI similar to LiL and having character named Sekai is a LiL clone, am i right?

They are when you put all those elements together on a school rooftop and something strange is happening in the world. And on top of it you do the whole "god God" thing, yes.

It's so obvious it's a clone that it's hard to grok how you're not seeing it?

I think his point was "I went to double check if it was a LiL clone and the first thing I saw was a character on a roof named Sekai". It's not proof on it's own but it is funny. He didn't say that's what made it a clone, he provided other examples.

So it leaves us only simillar UI. I think that guy should just open renpy without any configuration and see how it works. On advanced level, he might also think how would he make character screens and event lists (spoiler: he'd probably make them more simmilar to LiL, than to LiY)
