Haven't been able to log in for a while, since the whole site been crashing like mad this past week. Just here to state my utmost contempt for Patreon. Its Political Commissars been ruining comics crowdfunding and indie gaming for a long time now.
Sad to see Selebus go, but it is what it is. Good to see completely unrelated and previously unknown Subeles on the board and I wish them luck.

On one hand, it sucks that Selebus is forced into censoring his game on patreon to appease there guidelines.
On the other though, it will be VERY interesting to see how well Selebus writes when he is restricted from writing smut. A lot of people praise the dudes writing chops (me being one of them) but I can't tell if that's due to having the freedom of just writing a 30 something year old teacher fucking his underage students as a baseline, or he just can't write anything that is even remotely wholesome. Either way, it feels as if Selebus is being put to the test and if his writing can truly carry the story without the sex.

It will also be interesting to see if Selebus will have Patreon exclusive scenes that will replace the sex scenes and a lot of if not ALL of those Happy events is pretty much going to have be changed greatly for the Patreon version. Some people on here (even Selebus himself apparently) think the Patreon version is a good opportunity to "stick it to the man" as it were, but I think differently. It's a good opportunity to see how truly Selebus' pen game is. Most of the best visual novels I have ever played didn't have a single sex scene in it or very little of them. Rewrite, Soukou Akki Muramasa, Ever17, Danganronpa franchise, OG Ace Attorney trilogy as well as Great Ace Attorney duology, and technically 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim even though that isn't really a VN but I'm counting it anyway, and how can I forget one of the goats, Steins;Gate. But I digress. I'm just hoping that Selebus doesn't sacrifice his writing for the sake of trying to send a message. There is a good reason some people wanted an "all-ages" version of the game and it's because his writing is damn good but the plot of a middle aged teacher fucking his students can be a pretty big turnoff even if that's supposed to be the point of the VN.

Maybe she started this relationship when he was younger (read underage), that would certainly fuck up a person (even before her death).

I do not think it is an opportunity to test his writing skills. It's detrimental to change the flavor of a game halfway through. Selebus likely has the entire game mapped out in his head, but... there are no pathways to fulfill that dream without keeping the status quo.

This pretty much mirrors my theory after watching that scene. I think Sensei might have been taken advantage of at a young age (possibly by Ami's mom), and his desire to sleep with his students (and his inability to really connect emotionally with anything) stems from this event majorly fucking him up.

Also wanted to touch on the fact that we see a lot of birds in the game, and birds are often viewed as a symbol of something fragile and innocent, but are often selfish and cruel in real life. The fixation on birds would absolutely make sense for someone whose innocence was taken at an early age by someone he trusted, akin to a mother bird abandoning her young or pushing it out of the nest before it can fly.

Indeed, this will be a test of just how well he can adapt to restrictions I think the freedom from restriction was part of why he's so good. Even when not restricted by Patreon rules, some developers are still restricted in that they place themselves in positions where they are not the sole deciding factor, usually as a benefit for subscribers. This can be a great perk when used well, but it often is not. It more often leads to the subscribers driving too much of the narrative, diminishing not only the quality produced, but the quality the story is even capable of. Selebus does not and has not allowed this sort of perk since I became a subscriber on SubscribeStar, he does other things like what my level allows, but those are basically inconsequential to the actual story since they are separate from the game itself.

With Patreon hitting him on the incest and underage aspects, they are tryingto do exactly as those other developers' perks do, allowing an outside source to sully the narrative that Selebus so expertly crafted. This will test his ability to overcome their backseat writing. This is definitely a good opportunity, no, the perfect opportunity to hit back at them over this. He has the skill, he just has to create the content, and I'm sure it would make a glorious hit piece.

While I agree here, I don't agree fully. Also, we aren't even close to half way, we're only in the first year of multiple. As far as I can tell, Selebus has already proven his writing beyond any doubt, now is his one shot to turn this into a message, he won't get another unless Patreon strikes him again, at which point they are more likely to just terminate his page without a chance to fix anything. They don't show mercy to 'repeat offenders' over there. I do disagree with the last part, there are paths forward without the status quo, the problem with them is that they diminish quality significantly if he takes them. He can do it and he would likely get more of those people who can't stand playing the status quo version for whatever reason, but it would be a shadow of its former glory.

I got a weird bug with LiL, and think I might have completely wiped all my progress and be forced to restart due to my own stupidity.

I'm not up to the current stuff yet, have been slowly working my way there. I'm in Winter right now. Was just checking Main & Side girls status, how many love/lust points they had, checking how many scenes showing (seen or unseen) in their profiles, etc when I clicked on Maki's "Scene" menu... and hit a traceback error.

I foolishly did the rollback, got out of there and went back to playing... saved over my previous save (big mistake).... and only then noticed: I do not have the menu options at the bottom - ie History, skip, Auto, etc. Tried reloading my save.... same issue. Closed LiL and re-opened it, still same issue.

So I'm just wondering - am I completely boned and going to have to restart? Or is there a fix to this?

On that note, assuming this was not a replayed scene, I would have to assume that, yes, you are boned for that save. Normally, if you save over something that is being buggy like that, it will be saved as buggy unless the bug is because of a separate file that the game is just having trouble reading, like if the file is missing outright. In cases like that, you would be fine and all you would have to do is replace the file, but if no file is missing and the bug is consistent, that's a bad sign and could be something that carries across versions. I've run into bugs like the latter on other Renpy games.

Nope, not showing "End Replay" at all. I can still press ESC and use the side-menu to go to main/side girls and replay scene's and such. Funny enough, when I replay a scene I get the full menu in the bottom window... but if I end scene and go back to where I was, no menu again.

On that note, assuming this was not a replayed scene, I would have to assume that, yes, you are boned for that save. If it does happen to be an issue that can't be fixed without a restart, at least you get to go back and see the older content again. Honestly, I've been looking for an excuse to do that since I can't bring myself to reverse all my progress without reason.

I actually had something pretty much identical happen to me. It turned out that I had applied the update patch to an old version of the game by mistake. Is that a possibility in your case?
