... is the Gyaru psycho actually gonna gut us if we sleep with Wizard Chinami ... ?
Na she has probably lost the plot so badly now that she might let it happen if it meant stopping Akira from leaving her. Maybe before her mind broke and she got those 1000 affection points she would have killed him though.

1. random question that doesn't have to do with anything: wasn't Chika just working at the maid cafe now? was she working two-jobs and I forgot about it?

Cause even though Akira doesn't say to Chinami that she got called to the mall, he doesn't specify that she got called to the cafe either.

2. also, I was rewatching "first contact" and "all for you" today, and I thought that maybe USER4 is inside NAO, rather than possibly being her. It would fit that it chose to hide inside a template (in this case template 9, as it didn't have its form ready). Because it says that something emerged half unconscious before its time and chose to hide inside somewhere/someone.

This thing that hid somewhere will eventually rally to itself every aspect of the previous gods, like birds and spiders, and bring the end to everything. This is especially interesting because it means that if we have a character with USER4 inside them, then it doesn't really matter if they're close to either spiders, birds or whatever in terms of determining which god they ascribe to, because its dominion would be everything supernatural in the first place.

Regardless, maybe we should focus more on "who has the incomplete and unconscious form of USER4 inside them as of right now", rather than who is USER4. Given that it chooses to hide during "All for you", and the next event has Ami asking Akira for a favor that is cut from the game by the gods with the message "there is only one god, whoever tells you otherwise is lying"... it would point out to it being inside Ami.

But those are random thoughts, I have to think more about it.
Chika getting a job at the Pareidolia Mall, may have just been Pareidolia fucking with Sensei. That conversation likely never happened, especially since the Mall is seemingly still being renovated and Chika already had a pretty good job.

I'm also not entirely sure Chika even asked him to babysit Chinami in the first place. He may have just showed up, and Chika went with it after finding him there. That conversation on the phone being simply a delusion to convince him that he's a "good guy."

Man... it's really started to get to me, what with Selly saying it'll be the shortest chapter... like... all this fucking buildup to it coming and now it sounds like it'll start and end in like 6 updates or something... what a fucken disappointment, there's no way it's going to be worth it cause if it's not going to go on for a long while it's just going to be the teenage edgelord fanfic of the game before it all gets reset and the purity routes begin... seriously makes me wonder if Selly has written himself into a corner, all this great build up and no satisfying way to wrap it up...
But, man, 6 updates is a long time... It might not seem that way right now, but I think that it was DeSkel that put it like this: how the hell is Selebus even going to extend the dark route's events? I mean, if it really is as dark as it's supposed to be, then it kind of has to be short-lived - otherwise we either change the genre to torture porn, or we have to turn LiL into an update long monologue as everyone's dead but Akira, and he's waiting for Godot/the reset.

There's no real point for 20 events back to back, over 6 months, when every single one of them is Stomachache. It'd be way too taxing on the readers and it would just stop being meaningful very fast.

If you instead think about the dark route as a sort of arc where everything that was setup during the harem arc gets triggered, then it makes sense that it's short - exactly because it's just triggering everything that was setup. What really takes time is either setting things up or closing them down. Harem sets them up, Purity closes them down. Dark route has to be short because it will neither set nothing up, nor close anything.

Or not, that's all guesswork. I personally don't much care for a "dark route" anyway. Sounds way too edgy, but that may also be just a tactic to not give out what it's about (it could actually be about regaining all memories of previous resets, and rather than bad things happening, it's about seeing the bad that already has idk). It could be a lot of things.
Just a thought, but considering that each Character tends to get around three Events per chapter (up to like 12+), then if Characters start dropping, and actually stay gone, then of course it's going to be shorter. Less Main Events would be needed to cover everyone as well. Less Lust Events, etc.

With the Purity Routes seemingly being intended as rewards for enduring the Dark Route, it seems possible that it could be because some people are gonna lose their Waifu, for a while. But to make up for it, they get a Purity Route afterwards if they, you know, keep subscribing, etc.

It definitely seems like it'll be more of a climactic chapter after all the build up. A rough one, even if it's short.

Frankly, I'm hoping for more of a mind fuck than torture porn.

Edit: Also, Sensei loves Horror according to Niki and people tend to die soon after having sex in horror movies. The Harem Route might be the having sex part which is why everyone getting a sex scene seems to be a goal. (Chapter 2's Niki 'Dear You' Event is what I'm referring to)

Not anymore from the looks of it (plus I didn't think Chika would have enough time to do two jobs). Instead of her getting recruited by the third god or something along those lines, I assume that whole lowercase conversation over the phone with Chika was entirely orchestrated by Pareidolia to one-sided lure Sensei to the more feeble than normal Chinami.

There's nothing that I really disagree with on the emotional level, so you can just take that and disregard whatever I'm going to say right now. I mean, I've been pretty vocal against Chika's current arc and on how much I love Yumi and her development through multiple posts...

That being said, Chika's reaction is perfectly understandable and logical imo (as it concerns Yumi's event). Her own event is where I think Selebus drops the ball.

So hey, here comes Chika's greatest critic to her defense this time: Chika has told Yumi a hundred times that it was obvious she liked Akira. She has tried having an honest talk with her, she has tried cucking her, she might have even tried inviting her to a threesome. Most important of all, Chika has told Yumi no cap that if Yumi didn't come clear with her feelings, it was bound to blow up in their faces and it would ruin their relationship.

That's what happened. What Chika saw, even though on the surface was a misunderstanding, at the core it very much wasn't and she says so this during this last update. Yes, Akira wasn't cheating on her with Yumi, and neither they went back to their bedroom to have sex. She was wrong about that.

But what she was not wrong about is that they both were lost in eachother's eyes in a manner that just wasn't ever true with her. That Yumi was not coerced into that situation and that she wanted to kiss him back. That she has for a long time. That she let this blow up in Chika's face when she could have very easily just said so for years now.

Now, is part of this Chika's fault for not listening to the so many people that tried to open her eyes (Akira included)? Yes, 100%. But her reaction is still valid, because if we look to another example of surrogate sisters, Miku didn't wait a single day to tell Makoto she kissed Akira and to apologise.

This is guesswork, but if Yumi were to come clean with Chika before she confronted her, I think this would have gone down very differently. She didn't, in a huge part because Chika is insane. And in a smaller one because nothing really happened from her perspective.

But, and that is the point of this post, Chika has every right to lose her cool with Yumi. I wouldn't blame her at all on that front to be honest, she'll probably apologise for the things she got wrong, and when she does, the things she got right will more than compensate for the emotional distress of the rest. Yumi has fucked up, she has feelings for him and she let herself be in that situation with her sister's boyfriend.

If Chika didn't see it, it would have been fine. But now that she saw it, there's a whole arc of things she didn't see that become evident to her. They didn't get to that point from zero, and it's all been going on behind her back, and even before they were a thing, with Yumi keeping all that a secret from her (while she asked her about it many times over).
I'm not intending to say her reaction was not justifiable from her perspective. Nor do I think that Yumi had no part to play. I'm just honestly more interested in the portrayal of Yumi's mental/emotional state in this game as it in some ways hits strangely close to home at times. So I was mostly focused on that.

I guess I should clarify what I mean by Yumi blaming herself, because I Think I kind of left that point floating in my last post. As she obviously does hold some blame for what happened (I still think she holds a lesser portion of the blame, but whatever I'm not that interested in that).

What I mean is, she will blame her emotions, blame herself for opening up to Akira, blame herself for allowing herself to start making an emotional connection with someone. When what she really should blame herself for is the opposite of that, i.e. not trying hard enough to open up to Chika about everything that happened (the forced kiss, the Nodoka situation, her feelings, etc.) I think that will be part of the direction her character goes. Or maybe I'm just wrong and it never even goes down that route.

If I was to speculate on alternate paths they could have taken to avoid this I would come to something along these lines:

Chika's perspective was based on a delusional understanding of what her relationship with Akira was. And her reaction was formed through that lens. Yumi never had the strength of will to break that lens. That was probably her biggest failing as Chika's friend. Yumi should have hurt her far earlier, told her everything that happened, everything she knew about Akira. Actually tried to break her delusion. But she could not bring herself to hurt Chika deliberately the way that she needed to. That's assuming Chika would even listen as its not like Yumi had any proof of anything. And I'm not really sure If either of them had the capacity to have that conversation with each other in the past anyway and I still think they don't. They will eventually though, after a few more lessons in love, and that will be what resolves this conflict.

But I guess none of that really matters anyway. Someone wrote them to end up here after all. And I'm actually quite interested in where it will go for them. So I don't necessarily agree that Selebus dropped the ball with the Chika event. Those 1000 affection points are a sure indication of an impending tragedy and there are a lot of directions it could go in. But if nothing happens for another year then I probably do agree with you about her event.
