weird, nothing helps me go to sleep quicker than Sensei pondering to himselfI shouldn't have play this game at night, it's been 2 hours and I'm still awake and stiff in my chair. I probably need to keep watching fun youtube videos
lol yeah it definitely does feel personal. I mean I’ve gone through this game twice now with the most recent play through all happening within the passed week and a half, so I’ve become pretty emotionally invested. The lack of choice with some characters compared to others and the dialogue that’s exchanged between Sensei and some of these characters is really what drives a lot of the animosity. In the end though, my own opinions of the characters being so intense is, I think, a mark of good storytelling and character development. Just because I don’t like what happens doesn’t mean it’s bad.Damn bruh... I think the complete opposite of you about these characters, and that's ok, but ngl, your anger towards them feels a little personal
Wow, are you playing the wrong game."Yet." Due to my past IRL, I like stories with happy endings. I don't like to be sad. Therefore the only ending I will accept is an ending were everyone is happy. And together. Lol It's odd, I know, but that's just the way I like my VN's.
Yeah, can't remember a single instance. It's kind of the same thing they do in sitcoms with laugh tracks. Jokes are for audience, not for characters to enjoy and react to, or something like this.Is it just me, or have the characters not ever laughed before? They may have expressed happiness throughout certain parts of the game, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone laugh at anyone's jokes or anything else.
I just think that the characters seem to roll off each other too easily when it comes to moments of levity—like they are more or less equally witty with their quips. No one really loses the banter, and as a result, no one really stands out as a comedic genius. I love Sel's writing style, but I think this is one of those moments where I could tell that the thoughts are coming from the author rather than from the characters themselves.Yeah, can't remember a single instance. So....Selebus watched/watches a lot of Buffy.I just think that the characters seem to roll off each other too easily when it comes to moments of levity—like they are more or less equally witty with their quips. You're right, she's basically the only character that does this, as there were other instances.I have just recalled Kirin laughing
Honestly, it feels kinda sorta millennial post-modern post-humour type of thing, where everybody is witty, wacky and quirky. There are ways to write kids differently, from the top my head I can racal Ripples. Also competent writing, less colorful, much more believable and relatable, where high schoolers actually talk and behave like hight schoolers. To the point of having drawn out inside jokes and bits, that are equally endearing in a nostalgic way and fucking cringy, cause you did those as well at their age.So....Selebus watched/watches a lot of Buffy.
Yeah, I feel the same. Some things are so odly specific that it kills the pacing for me. So, even if I don´t want to I have to rely on a walkthrough , because I don´t like wasting my time finding a trigger with like 30 + characters on 11 time slots. At this point I would like them to put some kind of symbol to indicate where something new will happen. Going weeks of do this ... oh nothing new scroll back for every action every day just incase it is the right one as even when you know what and where sometimes you dont have other random event to get that one going. Looking to the walkthrough for many actions because I went 2 weeks going through every action and roll back try to find that I need to go to this place then go back home trying to find that one event on my own is a time drain and not fun gameplay. A game that wears down the player to have to use the walkthrough is not as fun as just giving me a ! to indicate I should call this person or go there. It could just be a option to turn on cause when you have like 30 options each time period each day that just one of them is the right option on a certain day it gets tedious by the second chapter and clicking a option to indicate something new is here is way better than go to walkthrough check every characters current path, find which specific one is holding you up. Sorry about rant but sometimes I spend more time looking for the next storyline than I do in actual storylines.
what’dya mean? Yasu laughs maniacally all the time lolIs it just me, or have the characters not ever laughed before? They may have expressed happiness throughout certain parts of the game, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone laugh at anyone's jokes or anything else.
I highly highly suggest you use the guide mod. It’s integrated pretty seamlessly and is a huge time saver. My first play through, I had the wiki open with like 30 tabs and it was a drag trying to unlock everything. The guide mod puts an exclamation point next to the name of a character in the progress menu who has an event that you’re within reach of. And then the hint menu shows you where to go and when, or what character to progress first before being able to trigger an event that you’re in reach of.At this point I would like them to put some kind of symbol to indicate where something new will happen. on the day that you can do it, the option to wait until morning should be one of the options and i think it's at the bottom of the list. it's not on the actual phone. So, finally catching up... and I can't seem to get the last Happy event. The wiki says to click on "Wait till morning" on the phone in the afternoon, but... the phone doesn't have that button any more. :-(
Hmm. The only days that have an "afternoon" slot are Saturday and Sunday, and when I get there, I've got three options:on the day that you can do it, the option to wait until morning should be one of the options and i think it's at the bottom of the list. it's not on the actual phone.
that's weird. i just did that event a couple days ago. are you using the guide mod? i had completed "the place she falls asleep at night" and then cleared out every other event before realizing that happy event xiii was available because it didn't show up in the hints screen. i ended up triggering that event a couple of in game weeks after the Sara event, and the button was there on the weekend.Hmm. The only days that have an "afternoon" slot are Saturday and Sunday, and when I get there, I've got three options:
When I click on "Wait until night," it says I "wander around in the dark for a while" and so on. Then I get the evening links, which are the same except for the last one, but instead of offering "Wait until morning," I get "Go home and sleep." If I select that... I just go to the next day. Same for either Saturday or Sunday.
- Go somewhere
- Check phone
- Wait until night
I completed Sara's event "The Place She Falls Asleep at Night," which is supposed to be the trigger for this event. I've got a bunch of events that all seem to be in the 23.2 chain (and later), but I can't trigger any of them until I can trigger "Wither" -- but I can't trigger that until I've done the Happy event. Erk.
I agree with all of this apart from what you said about Makoto, I always liked her even though her scenes have often left me feeling like shit. The only characters I really hated were Sensei and Kirin but now I have added Nodoka to that list as well. I kinda hope Futuba finds out what she did. Finally caught back up after spending the last week or so reading through the rework and I gotta say, Chapter 3 is shaping up to be the most visceral chapter thus far. The Kirin/Ayane scenes early on in the game were upsetting, as was the Bluejay event, but the shit that is happening now is clearly building the story up to a crescendo that I am honestly nervous to experience.
I absolutely despise Nadoka at this point, and it literally made me nauseous reading the events following the lockerroom ordeal where Sensei says that he still likes her and Futaba defends her character, ignorant to what she did. I already don't like Futaba at all and haven't since the beginning, and a CALLOUS part of me is looking forward to this supposed upcoming dark route where hopefully both of these characters are left utterly broken. I don't think Futaba actually deserves that but I find her cowardice annoying, her insecurities tiring, and her moments of lashing out at Sensei infuriating... mostly because Sensei just accepts it from her when I don't think she's anywhere close to being interesting enough to warrant that.
I would have added Makoto to the list of characters I wish to see broken too, but it appears it has already happened. I never liked her either, and disliked her even more than Futaba, but at this point, I do feel bad for her... She also scares me quite a bit in this broken state, which is at least interesting. I hope her old personality of smugly vying for Sensei's attention never returns. She is the only character whose lust events I miss whenever possible, because she really is that annoying to me. I edited my save file to see her latest one, and given that it was cringe inducing grief sex and blackmail, I quickly reverted back to my previous save.
Of course though, the absolute worst person in all of this is still Sensei.Godwhat an absolute piece of shit. But that's to be expected, and again, at least it's interesting to see him destroy everything around him. I just wish he would stand up for the right thing at the right time even once throughout this story. Pretty much the only time he speaks out against something or defends anyone is when it's annoying for him to do so. The latest example that comes to mind is when Maya confronted Ayane about the pregnancy. I think that annoyed me even more than when he let Nadoka just cut Yumi to shreds. I can look passed his various misdeeds that happen when he literally loses control of his actions, but when he just fucking stands there doing jackshit at the most inopportune times, it's just infuriating. Especially when he randomly chooses other times to get involved in shit that he should recognize the benefits in letting play out on their own.
