The new sectioned-off events tracker is a major improvement. A+ for that. Love both the new characters as well (especially Molly).

Molly MacCormack name sounds familiar, it's like
On the Call Someone menu, i feel difficulties when i want to scroll down. But overall, this update is great, more easy to track down event progress. Molly is adorable too, when Tsuneyo is kinda creepy on her own way.

How do I get started on the 2 new girls' routes? School days just go straight to evening every day and I have nowhere new to go. I still have 10 main missions to do and 4 secret missions but they aren't activating either

Work on all the other girls and events and it will happen once you have hit all the triggers.
Its an automatic event but you must first get all the other girls and events to that point.

i didn't grind the girls affections, i just think Rin is best girl, most of the girls are 50 or 60 or something close, Rin is just Rin

Other than the 2 new characters and 10 main events, the only thing I have left is the one event with maki, makoto's mom, and when I call her at noon it just says I need to find somewhere I can take her at night other than the porn shop.

Only a few need more than 40 points to unlock all content, 2-3 are over 50 point wise with 60 need for only 1.

Yeah it's kinda similar to it except our MC can (probably WILL, i'm hoping it WILL) be a psycho = w=ll...
With all these 4th wall breaking (good stuff) and the totally wholesome intro -> later story events but it ain't a ripoff or anything like that, I guess they'd say it's "trying to be like that" since that one kinda exploded in popularity making it mainstream...

Not even close. DDLC wasn't even the first of its kind and denpa/mindscrew games like it date back to the mid-90s during the rise of visual novels as a medium.
It's disappointing how you can't even make a Western game in that genre anymore without people saying it's trying to somehow be that.
Also not sure what you mean by the horror elements are "just there" because they're literally the plot of the game.

Every event in the game triggers off of 5 affection.
Only one event in that loop gives you affection.
