As a general comment to those weighing in on the current heated discussion: Everyone is free to decide what is a waste of their own time.
You feel the game is a waste of your time? That's your prerogative, that's how *you* feel. If you're not interested in seeing if you can feel differently about it, that's your business too. If you want to let the forum know that's how you feel about it, and explain why (as some have) that's valid feedback.
You feel the game is enjoyable? Time well spent? That's your prerogative too, that's how *you* feel. Chances are in this case, you have no interest in feeling differently about it either (most people don't want to change to disliking something they enjoy after all). If you want to let the forum know that's how you feel about it, and explain why (as many have) that's also valid feedback.
However, telling other people how they should feel about the game, or the time spent on it, is not valid feedback. We should never try to tell other people they should, or shouldn't like something.
I believe the time I spend with this game is not wasted. I believe that the happy scenes do have some part to play in the overall story. I believe there are mysteries which do entice me. I believe the characters' personalities are engaging and enticing. I want to protect them all, and make them all feel good and happy. I know this is not what will happen, and I can't stop myself from watching the horror unfold click by click.
If you believe that there is no overall story, or mysteries, that the game is just full of random stuff, then yeah, I can see how you'd feel it was a waste of time. You feel how you feel, and letting the author, and other potential players know that's how the game hit you is good - other people might wind up feeling the same way. I'm not going to tell you you're wrong for feeling that way.
On the other hand, it hit me different, and that should be okay too.
