Makoto's welfare is #1 to Maki and she ain't gonna risk fucking that up, it would actually make Makoto hate Maki.

I'm pretty sure Maki has reached the correct conclusion. Her entire gambit of coaxing that trauma-dump out of him felt like an attempt at confirmation of her suspicions.

Marlowe was the father of the anti-hero, and very much a Renaissance man (in every sense).
