One of the strengths of this game is how it leverages the fact that the reader is separate from the MC. To answer this question rigorously we'd have to agree on definitions for identity and agency, and how those two relate with fiction and the telling of narrative. He's definitely not a good person, but whether or not that has and will always be is a point of conention as we await future chapters. If you chose to continue to play this game, be mindful of the speaker of a given textbox. The narration often alludes to having a specific speaker, but the game won't flat out tell who is talking, or to whom the narration is directed towards.
You have choices that lock you out of scenes/paths, but this game is ultimately a linear experience; the missed paths don't change the destination.
So this game isn’t about allowing players to fully play as the main character, right? The narration isn’t only directed at the main character but also communicates with the player? Considering the large amount of text in this game, if it’s one with frequent branching paths, it might indeed be difficult to play. Having a clear main storyline is definitely a good thing for me. Not quite. There are no branching paths in the way vns use that term. The player can influence certain choices, which prevent some events from being viewed, but these do not cause a split / branch in paths. The fandom likes to say there are only two paths, "Green path" which means seeing all events, and "Red Path" which means missing a couple here and there.

Even so, I would struggle to describe this game's storyline as "clear". The complexity of the story is due to how it's written and the content within, not any player choices. You can't make MC any more of a bad person than he already is, but you can't make him a good boy either.

well......do you think the main character of this game is more of a person with kind and correct values, or someone whose thoughts are heavily influenced by desire? What is their sense of morality like? I hope MC won’t ignore the player’s choices and hurt other female characters (hopefully)
At the start of the game, he wakes up in a teacher's body and decides he wants to fuck all 10 teenage students in his class. He tries to be a good person about it, but that is a disgusting goal. The results of this goal and his attitude about it is compelling to start with, and eventually drama happens and it becomes enthralling to read.

Sensei doesn't ignore you too much when he gives you a choice, but he rarely gives you a choice. You will get frustrated at him being stupid, but he's only in his situation in the first place because he's that stupid.

Did he violate the girl out of his own will?
Because you've said it's important for you to know I would say No, something did affect his will. Sensei is not innocent though. The game puts a similar choice in your hands later on in the game.

The developer understands there's a line of what's socially acceptable and what's not at the start of the game, and pushes that line further back the longer the story is told.

Does this game really have overly complex branching paths that require constant saving? Is there a chance that a single wrong choice could lead to an irreversible bad ending?
You should use the guide mod, and maybe save a decent amount. I basically save whenever I think a important choice is happening that the hint mod hasn't told me results in missing events. If you don't make backups like this, you can lose time every now and then. If you do lose progress like this and the save isn't that old, you can just turn on text skip and get back decently quickly.

There is no ending yet, but certain choices will make you miss events and you can't get them back, you'd have to load an old save. We call seeing all the events the green path, we've been told that there will be always a way to see every event, and missing any events is called red path.

If you stay on the green path, you will make bad and worse choices. But there are hints during the game that people have to be broken before they can be made better than ever. Some red choices will make you feel good in the short term, but you can notice some weird things in the dialogue afterward. We don't know for sure if people will get punished for missing events, but the developer has made similar choices before and punished you for them every time so there's a pattern to learn from. The update that came out two weeks ago had a lot of events that only show up if you were still on the green path. Missing those bonus events turns the update into a boring one so I think it's still important.

I think you'll like the game long enough to decide whether you want to keep playing it. I told you about the scene with the shota and you didn't immediately run away, so I think you can figure out whether the game gets too dark for you or not, and that your time wasn't completely wasted if you do make that choice.

I see, it’s completely like, 'Oh! Look at me, I’m going to be a good person, I’m going to be a good teacher! Hey, my girls, do you want to try your teacher’s big lollipop? All-natural, no additives,' or something like that, right? But considering that the novel games I’ve been playing recently all have similarly.....hmmm.....issues, where the MC dies (or maybe doesn’t, but still ends up in a new world), then wakes up in a strange body, again that 'twisted world,'game the MC might even end up F**k with his( original owner of the body) mother, brother(femboy), big sister and classmates.

Come to think of it, most MC in this type of game generally seem to have serious problem of rather low morals, dating multiple girls with no sense of guilt—even if some of it is player choices... But I heard from what you’ve mentioned, the focus of this game isn’t H content. seems I can choose to skip some scenes I’m not too fond of. (Side note: Ami is just so cute. Just so cute. Sooooo cute!

I mean, we have the "Breed Your Niece" minigame in the first hour of gameplay, so I think that should be a pretty big filtering tool for prospective players right there, honestly.
Imean, after talking with you guys, I feel like Ima now playing Doki Doki Literature Club. dude everything feels so familiar. :)

The game was definitely partially inspired by DDLC. But in hindsight, DDLC feels like a concept demo in comparison. Both in terms of story length and character depth.
DDLC is rather gimmicky, with a clear focus on subverting expectations, the contrast between slice of life atmosphere and straight up gore, and re-defining psychological horror within a VN gameplay loop.

LiL borrowed some of its themes from the first two points, while the gameplay is about as creative as unseasoned cooked boiled potatoes.
At the end of the day though, they are not really comparable titles. LiL is a story-rich game that focuses on character development, lore and mystery. The gimmicky DDLC factor acts mostly just as a hook in the beginning of the game. The meat and potatoes lie in the dialogues and character interactions and only gets to fully bloom in the long run.
Also idk why I'm thinking of potatoes all the time, I guess I played through too many Molly events lately.

In terms of DDLC I thought it was a bit curious how Selebus remade the opening shot to look fairly close to the famous Just Monika shot. This could be a coincidence, but if not it strikes me as unusual since Selebus feels the type to want to maintain at least a veneer of originality even when copying other things. This could be a point to Sensei as a 'media obsessed figure' who is projecting the media he's seen onto his surroundings (see also the recent happy events which are 1:1 creations of Lynch's Twin Peaks and rabbit shorts).

Tbh, none of those images did or meant anything to me... except the last two, that was hilarious, and adorable at the same time...

With all the posts about new playthroughs and rereads I caved. Started the first event just now with the auto mod. Had to pause for a second because this first event is so emotional and I'm already getting watery eyes.

Ok back to the breathing and jumping.

Well atleast Ima now in the game so i will enjoy first. few questions before start!! Is this game overall more of a cheerful slice-of-life style, or does it lean towards a dark tone filled with depression and sadness? Did the protagonist really travel through time, or is it some kind of... brainwashing or dream? (If it doesn't involve spoilers.) bruh... recently read some romance novels with bad endings, and I really need something to cure me. Especially since LIL updates almost every month or every couple of months. It feels like the creator of this game must either love it deeply or be a full-time developer. Compared to the painfully slow update pace of other similar visual novels, LIL truly a fresh air!
No spoilers, but… no. It’s about as far from cheerful slice-of-life as you can get. It’s a metaphysical/psychological descent into some really dark, uncomfortable places (denpa), with wonderful characters (though the MC is a putz), deep lore, and some legit LOL humor. It’s loooong (~2 million words), and it’s only about half way done.

Actually it's almost 3 million words. LiL should make it somewhere between 0.47 and 0.49

Um. Hard to answer without getting very spoiler-y, but…

No. MC is not a nice person. Part of the power of the game is him and us looking at that and exploring why.

Where you are (the very beginning), he treats the other characters as if he’s the protagonist in a run-of-the-mill collect-them-all school harem game. Rack up those affection points. Seduce them and move on. Yeehaw.

Then he starts to realize that they are people. And that there’s something very weird happening.

(Side note: Ami is just so cute. Just so cute. Sooooo cute!
Heh. Yes, she is. And she’s only getting started. :sneaky:

She eventually reveals herself to be… quite a lot more. But enjoy the unfiltered kawaii while you can!

Woof.

I struggle to write a thousand words a day. At that rate, without a break (to, say, visit Japan or take a weekend off) or needing to delete anything because I’d written myself into a dead end, it would take eight years+ to reach 3M words.

ETA: Which, in fairness, Sel has done in about half that time. Good for him!

I agree in the sense of how Akira perceives it. But it was really hard for me, the reader, to not interpret it as a simple bribe done in order to get her letter/gift/whatever that was to Niki. Thus, it would make Otoha the opposite of what you're saying, she'd simply be manipulating Akira to try to get to Niki, again. Maybe even including him in a threesome idea, since she can't get Niki by herself.

I think it would suit the story for Otoha to become close friends with Akira given that she has burned all bridges and only Nodoka remains as a friend to her. I just don't know that we are there yet in terms of genuine feelings, I hope so though. Just withholding judgement for now.
