But the more I play the more it moves into "it's okay to be a pedo if you are """""""ethical"""""""" about it" territory.
I think we're definitely not playing the same game, because the game constantly reminds us how fucked up this is and how fucked up the mind of the person who suffered from it is. Like, if the game tried to justify it, you'd see Akira as 100% fine psychologically, you'd see Io being super cool and loving being around other girls, Sekai wouldn't be criticized and wouldn't be seen as a scary and bizarre woman because of her poems. Like, what this game does most is criticize and show how screwed up someone's mind is because of this, at no point does this game romanticize this.

The theme of the story has always been a cycle of abuse and coming to terms with the realization that any attempt to justify it is a misunderstanding on the part of the victim, while contending with the reality of how fucked up people's lives can become.
I understand it and that's why I still play this game and find it interesting and thought-provoking. But I don't think that Sensei's performative self-flagellation amounts to much at all. “Yes, Small Child, I’m a bad person. Now you’ve been warned. So when you still decide to sleep with me (because you’re a naive teenager and I’ve spent months grooming you) I won’t stop you. After all I already told you I’m bad… what else could I possibly do?”

Again, i'm not up to current content and I see how the author may explain it (Sensei's been abused/beholden to the gods/programmed to do it) but still... it's an explanation, not a condemnation.

it could be about supporting them without abusing them, it could be about removing Akira from their lives and fixing their problems from the shadows...
I hope so... but "All characters are romanceable" stance makes me very skeptical. Yes let's romance Chinami, that's the good stuff right there. That will show them how critical of pedophilia this game is.

I'm not trying to bait anyone - I am simply giving my opinion (and not presenting it as universal fact, as you did). I do not like Maya - I have never liked Maya. I thought maybe I'd like her after she got reset, but she's as bad or worse than she was before. I know lots of people think she's amazing - I don't understand it
I mean have you seen Maya? She's adorable.

If I had the time I would go find that screenshot of her saying something along those lines. Like "I mean have you seen me? I'm adorable." Think it was from a pre Halloween event.

Ugh, you're annoying, you won't listen and you're looking for anything you can twist to justify your argument... you're absolutely fucking wrong and you've been presented both arguments and evidence disproving your stance, now that i've taken the purity route assumptions out of your sail you've gone and moved the goalposts to content in the harem route part of the game, where yes, Akira is an absolute fucking rapist no matter what he or any other character suggests or does not suggest and found a single word, just one, that you can twist into a super crappy support for your collapsed building of an argument and try to duck out with a 'well i might not be wrong, ciao'... you are annoying, go away.

I am not the best for arguing one way or another, but I would like to point out Akira is sort of in a universe where all of reality is bending the rules of society just to get him to keep doing bad shit. He could literally go up to a cop and be like I touched a 5 year old and the universe would sort of just make it work. Probably walk away with a medal. Or if it gets out of hand, just reset, or they ignore him. Pretty sure its just built into every girl to enable Akria all he wants. He has a problem, and he would probably stop, if anyone were legitimately trying to get him to stop and had the means to. It's why he likes a handful of girls more than others Otoha, Osaka, Yumi, Maya and a select others are either helping him with his problems, or at least calling him out.

I am not up to the most recent update, but as of last night we have both Maki and Osaka openly trying to reel him in, and I have a feeling it will have an impact later on. But it's hard to be reeled in when the universe bends to your addiction. For example he could be like "Maki I am fucking your kids" and somehow it would all just pan out because that's the stage the play has been set up for. That and having multiple deities pushing your problems and as of my playing last night, two... ghosts of your tormentor fucking with your head.

Sorry, didn't mean to upset you man. Actually I choose to believe you're right and i'm just too arrogant with my opinions. At least I hope so.

I mean still, imo explaining the thought process of an abuser isn't justifying it. Sure the author could just make him wake up and realize "oh wow, I really was wrong and I shouldn't do that stuff anymore" but that wouldn't be good writing. The real world doesn't work that way with any other kind of mental problem or addiction.

The story doesn't even need to ultimately end up as a redemption for Sensei to still be a lesson against this kind of behavior. It could just end with him sinking deeper into depravity and wretchedness and showcasing the extent of the destruction this kind of shit can cause.

At the end of the day, the story doesn't NEED to outwardly condemn its contents any more than it has.

You turn out to be right, you are more than welcome to come back here, quote me and laugh or start shit, but until then you're just assuming shit, cherry picking, twisting things and making altogether unsupported claims. It's done, claim made, countered, refuted, disproved, done. Now drop it and move on. I'm done talking about this, this game makes a compelling narrative of the cycle of abuse and its horrors, there's plenty to criticize but it does not glorify fucking child rape.

Weirdly combative, but ok. Why would I want to laugh at you? I’m not trying to “win the debate” or anything like that.

Hopefully the more heated conversation did not dissuade you from the game. I think Bing has seen people make a similar arguments before and probably most didn't have the urge for understanding you did. Probably a more hate to hate kind of thing. I would just say, see where the story goes and we will see how things play out with how Sel wants to tell the story. I highly doubt it will end with "And then he fucked a child and everyone clapped." If you are having fun keep playing, if not take a break and see where it goes from the sidelines and jump back in when it has more info about making an informed decision.

I mean that is what I did. I stopped playing when the game basically

At the time I was under the impression that the green path was the "true" path. But that action really REALLY didn't sit right with me. So I took a long break and waited for more content to see where things were going. Now I am playing again because I have a sneaking feeling green doesn't necessarily mean good.

Plus Sel took my Maya away and hurt my reason for living let alone keep playing :p

Oh yeah, I've been dreading the Io event too, especially considering how my imagination works when I play this game. Like, you know, the anime-style Koikatsu visuals almost make it all bearable?

I mean, Sensei’s model barely looks older than his students (especially with that emo hairstyle).

But I like to inflict maximum brain damage on myself by imagining how it would look in real life. Just picture it: a large creepy 31-year-old Japanese man towering over a small girl like Io, who could probably pass for an elementary school student. What a sight to behold.

Maybe I do it because i like to feel miserable too, thankfully in the "play VNs and whine about them on the internet" kind of way, not "i need to diddle the kids to feel whole" kind.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Also, IIRC, Io isn't that short either, I think only Miku is, though if you're torturing yourself could make her event worse.

I see it as it being the "real" path. As in, some choices like good homie can feel meta, but generally, they are what someone like Sensei would choose.

As always, I like to reinforce the idea that the green path will be the real path of the game.

I follow this.

Red path: Happiness now, sadness later.

Green path: Sadness now, happiness later.

I just want to remind you of the impact that Sara's route and the mages' route, is having on the game currently. You can lose all of Sara's content due to a choice you make in chapter 1 of the game. We will still have more than 7-8 years of gameplay and the number of events you miss in updates if you are not on the green path continues to increase. I really think there will come a point where if the person is not on the green path, they will not be able to play the game and will be stuck in some reset. That's why I recommend downloading the Binggogus subscription app/file, because I'm 99% sure that at some point you'll have to switch to the green path if you really want to continue watching the game's story.

I sort of think so too, but I am holding out hope. If I were making the game, thank god I am not, I sort of would want it to be up to the player to try and get Akira to start being less of a heel instead of the game forcing the character to change. At first you walk in like "Porn porn porn" but as the game progresses you are more inclined like "I just genuinely want to help these people." Be on Akiras redemption along side them.

I can see that, and agree to an extent, but with Io that's a huuuuugggeee jump of sadness now, happiness later. I cannot logic leap "This will all work out." However, so far, the ramifications I have seen have been nothing but good for the girl. It hasn't really cut content, at least as of as far as I have played.
