I will be very disappointed if it was all a dream ending.

Tho what if the ending is just a loop that sends us all the way back to chapter 1? The school in the sinkhole is rebuilt and everyone is returned to their respective classes, the rest of the cast loses their memories, Nu Maya becomes Maya Prime and we start all over again.

How do you think the story ends?
I’ve been following it for many years, but the direction the game has taken really disappointed me... the only reason I’m still around is because I got too attached to the characters and can’t bring myself to say goodbye to them lol

I'm still hoping the parts I don't like about the game are chapter 4 exclusive, and that chapter 4 ends with Prime coming back. Timing wise it could easily line up, and then we'd still have a chapter to wrap things up like what were the tutoring days like, and dealing with the consequences of prime coming back.

There is a non zero possibility that a true playthrough needs you to be a good uncle until you reach the ending where it loops, and then you have to go bad uncle, and there could be extra dialogue spread through the game again for doing so.

But there's other things he could do too. I can think of a way where you would have to use replays to get through a reset puzzle.

I mean, obviously at this point it's whatever Selebus decides to retcon, but if we go back to the explanation of what the wishing well is, it's more likely that it connects you to a reality where what you want is true, rather than actually creating something out of nowhere.

Maybe it's semantics, but it would have found a reality where Ami existed as Akira/Sekai's child, rather than create her from nothing (for instance).

Oh, and then Nozumu beated and abused Sekai too. He probably sodomized child Akira from some of the inkling we have. So that's twice a good job. So Nozumu was kind of a karma enforcer to each Arakawa. And he's completely a good father to Ami who unfortunately never learned to appreciate any amount of normalcy due to her mother. Damn our badass bro Nozumu never did anything wrong.

There's a reason i have that guy on ignore, he needs serious psychological help and he ain't gonna get it from me... it's unfortunate that the subject matter of this story can really pull the most niche headcases out of ether... in this case, a crusader of divine retribution who lives in non-linear time, dishing out 'justice' for pre-crimes...

If you are taking the path of "I, as a reader, got satisfaction from seeing Akira suffering great abuse in his past, and see this as an emotional release for me, the reader, after having seen him destroy a lot of lives in the narrative i'm reading" then sure. I don't feel that way, but to each their own.

But your argument in relation to the story and its themes makes zero sense. This would be like saying that Io deserved to be raped by her mother because 15 years later she'll be so fucked up by the experience that she'll pull a gun and kill her entire class.

First, I must acknowledge you're fully correct and I did get caught up in the moment here. I really got angry at what happened in game and I must apologize to anyone feeling uncomfortable with my saying. I will mark spoilers for all of them. If you're all want, I could delete them as well. I just really want to have a friendly conversation with everyone here and suddenly I become the Enemy of the people...

And to anyone saying I'm a crusader or something. Okay, fine. I just think you guys are taking it too literally and I don't even know how to explain. The point I want to say is always that man shouldn't let their past dictate them. And I think it's poetic to point out even the worst would be a victim at any moment. When I grew up in my homecountry, things were not fine either. And my teachers forced a lot of (not sexual, that of verbal attack) traumas upon me. Without anyone to help me, I grew out of it myself and really tried to be better person than them. But now I know that I don't have right to critize or feel or gloat anyone even if the opponent was a fictional character structing in hell and actively seeking for hurt of others for thousands of years. I swear I never said anything like that to anyone. I know some of my tempting thoughts are even more twisted (I think you will misunderstand again and it's not what you'd think) and I will not fall into them. I never said I'm a perfect person. We all have darkness inside and I'm not ashamed to acknowledge this. I think Io is another thing. She never tried to let anyone else suffer like her and tried to cope with her problems with all helps she could get. She failed but she hasn't given up yet. I appreciate that and thank Selebus for giving us opportunities to give her some actual love.

Please ignore any spelling mistakes here since I can't think about that. I hate feelings that everyone disagreed with me. And about Niki. I argue with you there are too many inconsistences here although I could accept a certain amount of them for aesthetics reasons, I will not argue further.

Sorry everyone, I always to impress others but my words are impulsive and harsh. I don't mind how you guys might hate me for that and I for sure hope that you could forgive me. I will do better next time.

One point I would like to address that you didn't is that Niki, and especially her parents are guilty in all of this. Obviously I'm limited by how good of a writer Selebus will be here, but in a real life situation, and what he decided to write in that event, Niki and her family suspected for years what was going on and did nothing. They weren't sort of acquainted, he was her boyfriend and before that he was in her house everyday. Again, it's a writing issue more than anything, but any sane person would have investigated the situation further or called social services.

I don't really think that's bad writing at all to be honest though - in fact even in my own life I've seen this situation go down much the same way. It's nice to think in this sort of situation most people would turn into sleuths but the reality is a lot of people opt to mind their own business in these kinds of situations, especially in a scenario like this where there's absolutely no hard evidence of anything actually happening. The only thing they had to go off was Akira and seemingly he was emphatic with Niki that there was nothing weird going on.

One final point is that the information we have about the whole situation is also rather fragmented, and at times contradictory. Why would Sekai choose to stay with Nozomu after what she saw? Where were Saki and Yuu? Was Nozomu Akira's guardian? I'm not really satisfied with the current known information and thus generally refrain from looking too much into it for now.

Saki and Yuu are the ones I wanna know about at this point, it's kind of nuts we still have basically no information on them at this point. I hope when we do learn/start learning more about them it's not just dropped out of nowhere like the Nozomu revelation, glad as I was to learn more there it was a weak ass reveal imo lol

As far as Sekai choosing to stay with Nozomu I'd just say "why wouldn't she?". I've seen this sentiment a few times but I feel like the reality is she wasn't incentivised to leave at all. Christmas came early for everyone's favourite red-headed nonce and her new bf gave her a cute new toy to play with, it only makes sense to assume she'd turn it away if you assume she's a much better person than we have any reason to.

But now I know that I don't have right to critize or feel or gloat anyone even if the opponent was a fictional character structing in hell and actively seeking for hurt of others for thousands of years. That certainly puts things into perspective, and the language barrier is definitely a factor. For myself, I don't think you need to go so far as to apologize, or delete anything - although the explanation/apology is appreciated and corrects any possible misunderstanding we might have had.
