Since like you said there is literally no other place for Maya to stay, I am betting on Maya making an intentionally excused absence (and perhaps just waiting somewhere outside instead of staying somewhere) so that Ami could get alone with Sensei that night. Considering this was still early in a cycle where her statistics still worked, this might be something scripted enough that she could predict but couldn’t avoid. Or, she received heavy unsubtle hints from Ami that night, and she couldn’t stop it or didn’t have enough reason or heart to stop it, and definitely didn’t want to witness it.

Molly is part of the anime club along with Maya, Ami, Sana and Rin, (am i forgetting anyone? Ayane?), they were playing DnD the whole time, probably even before the resets.I mean, I figured playing an all-night D&D session (though the Emerald Guardian hasn’t shown up then, has she?)

Per the wiki: Molly is president, Futaba is vice president, Akira is the faculty advisor, and Maya, Ami, and Yasu are members. Rin was a member, but left to join the light music club with Otoha (which I'm sure is now a totally not-awkward situation, especially with her overdramatic mother as the advisor)
Club memberships as of the club migration of chapter 3:
Manga club: Molly, Ami, Futaba, Maya, Yasu
Light Music club: Noriko, Otoha, Rin, Sana, and Chika
Archery club: Io, Uta, Kirin, Touka, Tsuneyo
Swimming club: Makoto, Yumi, Miku, Nodoka, Ayane, Karin

As for nerdiness, New Maya still plays DnD (the Christmas when Sensei was veggie); she appeared to have a different playstyle (a narrative choice to segregate from Maya Prime) and actually was a lot nerdier or more enthusiastic in my eye due to the more engaged participation feeling I got from her.A thought: has New Maya shown the same voracious appetite (for anything aside from Akira) as Maya Prime? This presumably was because unlike Maya Prime, New Maya didn’t have to attend the exact same DnD session for the billionth time.
