I'll just start with this Molly stuff since I'm not making a post just for it:

Okay, now to the actual post. The first Karin date was incredibly cute!

So, I always thought that Karin was boring, but I have to say, I don't know if it's just paying more attention or the fact that I know that they were pretty much the one couple (Ami aside) in an entire cycle, but I see this as very wholesome.

Also, if you think about it, Karin was extremely forward in a sensible manner. She asked Akira out on a date, despite her issues, and not in an insane way like her sister either. It's very believable. Good for her. I guess we can attribute a significant part of that to the Nodoka compulsion effect though.

I... don't think I can do my normal reaction post to this. Is anyone actually interested in reading what could be a 100k characters unprofessional raw reaction spoiler to everything that happens? Because judging by the fact I've reached 60k before and this is supposedly longer and apparently very story rich and reaction worthy, this could reach 100k easily, unless that part about it being much longer than any other visual novels or avns was an overstatement. Like I find myself wanting to comment about lots of what Ami says and well... Reactions keep me going but is also a huge waste of time. Ehh...
Youre in good company here. Put them in nested spoilers and you should be fine screenspace wise. Post your reactions to the story as it happens and people will love you here. Here's a redacted zoomed out reaction someone else posted about the latest update 1733885822952.png

Yeah, the only stuff that made it into Deleted Content is stuff where the actual events change, rather than the art.
Maybe in general, but there's some lost dialogue here too. There's no caughtchanging scene this would have been called from, nor is there a afterchange scene. Something about this dialogue Sel specifically wanted to retcon

yes, it's from this event that we made the connection that Maya ran away from home after being molested by a family friend and was taken in by Akira. The bench/drink he offered her is likely where she takes him after their first box run, which she says that "it's the only place in town that has that particular drink". But, mostly, we think it's likely that their first meeting was there because it would make sense that she'd take him there to test his memories (as it would be one of the strongest places to take him).

The last part of that narration though was often taken to mean what would happen if Akira hadn't taken her home (to the tutoring place). Nice catch regardless. All of this might be a lie though, since we know that Maya shouldn't exist, and likely hadn't at first. So this could all be more a "Maya legend", that they believe happened, rather than something that actually did.

I know FireCazador edited his message right after Moonflare's message. But it is funny to see that Moonflare is ignoring Himawari's name being not Ami :LUL:

thanks for bringing this up to my attention and also how dare he!?

Also, no, Himawari and her real name are very likely to be different things. Himawari is how she's called, which is literally "sunflower", which she is (Akira's sunflower). Which Ami also is his sunflower btw, it is revealed that what he keeps in his pocket is a picture of Ami in a field of sunflowers. A sunflower, to Akira, is his "happy place" sort of.

While not impossible that her real name is sunflower, it is also unlikely due to the very nature of her name. Himawari's name is supposed to be a dangerous secret to her own existence, that is the point of "untitled". The name Himawari however is not a secret, you can see it plastered in multiple places like "HimawariCo". She'd be suicidal in showing her name to Akira so many times when that could erase her.

Edit: The event he does reference however is an early foreshadowing of what Kaori is.

This one says "Himawari" so the theory of her being named Ami falls i think

Since I like Moonflare so much I'm gonna intervene and say that this particular theory does not fall just because of that.

Selebus is the type of guy to say "oh but Himawari contains Ami backwards hIMAwari IMA = AMI hahaha im so smart"

Downloaded the game after reading about it in another thread (God it's been a while) talking about this game as the unnamed game that another game was inspired by. Remember seeing it pop up years ago but the reviews at the time made me lose interest and oh boy am I glad they did. Started playing when 0.43 came out and finished the game near the end of November, and now finally caught up on this thread. This game is something else and after reading the posts of some made me realize how much I missed or didn't notice which lead me to reading posts from each new update after I finished each part from 0.3ish. I know if I started playing this game when I first saw it I would definitely been chopping at the teeth waiting for the next update (Also may of been swept up in the drama that happened).

I have very few complaints about this game and it made me realize how much I can now tolerate when it comes to these types of topics that pop up in the fiction I'm consuming. Somethings did make me have to stop and take a breather but I was never turned off the game and thankfully while I did feel and actually adore some of the characters when bad stuff happened to them I was able to only feel for them for a bit before moving on and seeing what comes next (Stomachache has been the only missed event I have, decided to try and see how it would go if I succeeded it but just seeing Io's expression from the get go made me nope back to a previous save and fail the event. The aftermath made me happy that I did and I am hoping Sel doesn't take that decision and make it a negative in the future)

While I know this game is a game with porn and not a porn game I am a bit annoyed we got way more off screen sex scenes in the later parts of the game then I thought we would, while I didn't mind with characters we have loads of content with the Maya stuff being skipped and Sana one when Imari was at the bar and she took him into the kitchen after Akira cut himself and we were told what happened felt off. I dunno could be me who plays these games and hates both having too much and not enough (Example would me My New Family, started the game and loved it but 2/3 the way through when most of the plot was done and was just non-stop turned me off and made me stop even though the game is complete)

Overall enjoyed the game, really enjoying the commentary in this thread, love the fanart thread, looking forward to the new updates (though may wait for a few to come out first before jumping back in, give me loads of content to play unless I read something in this thread that changes my mind.) and now to play other porn games and hope I don't lose interest or not enjoy them cause the level of storytelling in this one ruined it for me lol.

Edit: Forgot to add, adore Rin, Yumi, Miku, Sana, Ayane, Molly (Which made that flashback for Tsuneyo a bit hard to watch), Uta, Io, Yasu, Touka, Noriko, and the wizards and can't wait too see more content (Lewd and non-lewd) with them. The others I like but don't mind waiting for more content. (Though after 0.45 def wanna know more about Ami and all of that, ya know)

Welcome!
I also am discouraged by the later missing and available scenes. Didn't care much for Nadokathon and am peeved that Sel chooses not to give us a Akira/Maya memory but will for sure give us that crappy and controversial reset memory.

It almost certainly will. The non iosex dialogue during 0.44 is so out of character for the rest of the story, it's almost the continuation of huggy boy complete with references to baseball.

Damn, imagine a timeline where Akira is a baseball enthusiast (like a football enthusiast in another timeline). It would make Io the winner. But there is a question: will Io agree to have sex with Akira or not?

I unfortunately read Subahibi in Japanese so I can't copy its phrasing mimetically like a pile of mysterious goo regurgitating something it ate years ago. But it went something like - keep running to the horizon! Because over those heights, out of sight, beyond the end that is the sky, lays the hill of sunflowers! And what is a sunflower but a parasite that follows the sun to grow and then remains frozen in place? It's important that the parasite stays in place once it's grown, facing where the sun was. And it's REALLY, REALLY important that the brain is wider than the sky. Because it's only through the cognition of an individual that limits form, or as some say, that gods form, or as some say, the sky becomes a wall rather than the infinite expanse of space. Our heads are as heavy as a god's. Himawari's name has all the significance in the world. The sunflowers watch as the moon shines upon our ascent up the hill towards happiness, sunawachi the Love-Filled Everyday. Ami's name feels more like a spiderweb to me, which kinds of catches on you and gets you sticky and stuck... but I would never be too hasty.

And it's also REALLY REALLY important that Lessons in Love is a critique of religion. Discourse regarding gods-this-and-gods-that should never forget the dripping mockery and scorn for all things religious within the game. Worshipping a god is a LIMITATION. Worshipping a god is a TRAP. It keeps you LOCKED in PLACE facing a certain direction. It keeps you STARING AT THE SUN until YOUR EYES BURN OUT and swirl infinitely in the misery of blindness. Not good! How will you climb the hill of sunflowers like that? How will you learn how to love??? Can you love a god? What happens if the god loves back? What happens if a god DEMANDS you live happily? Now that's a good question.

Anyway, in other words, the subjects above reminded me how much meaning can be derived by putting Subahibi and Lessons in Love up next to each other on diffchecker dot com. But I have to disguise it in ramblings to not just spoil Subahibi. If anyone hasn't read Subahibi despite the image of Subahibi on Sana's PC I will take this moment to recommend it. Not because I like it. I'm sorry, but I did not like it very much. If you guys think happy events are a drag, hooh boy, how about a game all about the doldrum boredom of eternal recurrence! But the symbolism makes it very meaningful in a Lessons in Love context. The only question for me is why he used Ayana as inspiration for Maya when Ayana was... oops! We can discuss that at a later time gentlemen.

Altho it looks like Subahibi was NOT a hit on F95... Very few posts. Maybe Scat-痔 (<---- this is FUCKING HILARIOUS for Japanese experts) should have released it in installments on patreon. But I see my good friend Skwada wrote a review for it. Good lad!

Welcome!
I actually had a similar experience with the whole catching up to the thread thing. This community is pretty active and interesting, especially if you then visit some of the other threads of similarly or even more popular titles where most of the posts contain about 1/10 of the intellectual quality you often encounter here. I'd actually be interested to see how this thread fares in comparison to the most replied to threads not by post count but word count, I wouldn't be surprised if it would be much closer then.

Speaking of other threads, I noticed one thing that I found quite funny and interesting.
You guys know that we dunk on Selebus all the time, complaining that he is an arrogant dickhead and that he used to be a good boy who'd post in this thread before he became a pissy boy.
Looking at the Being a DIK thread, I found it very interesting, if not even surprising, that the general consensus was that Dr. Pink Cake (the dev of BaDIK) is a greedy asshole who used to be wholesome but turned on his F95 community and is now swinging the banhammer at people daring to say anything negative :KEK:
Here is a quote from the user Better Cock Spock as an example (I really hope he does not mind me quoting him):
I didn't discover DPC/his games til a few years ago, or know that he had a different account from his official one.

(There is a whole discussion about it going on in that thread if you want to check it out)

It's funny to me to see the parallels. We shit on Sel all the time, but I guess it might just be, to some extent, in the human nature to become an egocentric ass once the money starts flowing in big time. Sure, DPC is presumably making a lot more cash than Sel, but the change in demeanor still seems very synchronic.
It makes me almost forgive Sel a little bit, or at least understand him better, seeing that he is not an outlier apparently.
And you still gotta give him credit for being very reliable and punctual with his updates, he rarely misses content wise as well. Whereas someone like DPC is getting criticized for the longer and longer delays in updates (now over 12 months for the upcoming one, likely to go to about 14 or 15 months) and relatively subpar content as of late.
I'm curious to see what you guys think of this.

Damn, imagine a timeline where Akira is a baseball enthusiast (like a football enthusiast in another timeline). It would make Io the winner. But there is a question: will Io agree to have sex with Akira or not?
I'm pretty sure in that world Akira would extend his base shift limit to make sure Io gets RBI'd to increase his OPS and HR ratio until she can't take the L's anymore and has to SO. Just gonna have to be careful to not get caught stealing.
(I actually don't really know much about baseball, so this doesn't necessarily make sense, but it sounds funny)

Man, i think a couple of people here have already put you on their ignore list for posting things that seem to have underwent at least one putting through some kind of chat AI.
But as one of the other, would you mind to do a little tl;dr section from now on?

While i do sign your "Give people money/power" and they will show their true nature.
There have been a lot of signs, to make people like me, being not so surprised to how Sel is behaving nowadays.
He stated a couple of things about himself here/ his discord and even in the game that seem to draw a certain picture.
In other words:
Either people forgot a LOT of what Sel said since he went puplic or just came in way later and didn't see it.

They are talented, and talented people tend to be eccentric. Staying long in echo chamber (their discord channels) really not going to help, amplifying their ego and delusions, leading to all kinds of problems to themselves and people around. Sadly Sel had too many "yes man" around that made him act on his delusions. And, looking at this thread, they were probably smart and eloquent enough to convince him he is right.

Expanding from it: because of that I have a feeling that her real A-starting name will never be revealed ever, hence your chance of being proven right/wrong will never show up

Not only because it potentially violates causality for her even more(?), but also because it de-mystifies Himawari too much and I don’t really like that. Besides, revealing yet another Japanese name by itself doesn’t have any appeal; it worked on Akira’s name for several reasons but it will not work on his daughter. An eventual revelation of the name Ami/Ayaka/Akane/etc is less than underwhelming.

Unless her true name is Ahego Arakawa then I’ll stand corrected.
