Just found something interesting when I fliped through the LiL itchio site.
Sel posted this image five years ago when the game was merely in 0.2.0. And as you can see, it features Maya sitting lonely at the ledge of school building in old district, which immediately evoked the tragic scene in Baby Finches. Which makes wonder if Sel always has a clear picture on what the main part of story would be like from the word go? He did say that he conceived the true ending of LiL a long time ago and it hasn't ever changed so far. While the latter part could be an exaggeration from my stand, it seems that Sel does possess an overt control over the story.
Which means I don't like Dorm War since it's too much of a deviation til now. Dude five times...?

So first the shitty Fan Fest, then delays, and then he's going on a break IIRC, this guy is trying his hardest to piss people off or something, was Fan Fest not basically a break, from what I can tell it shouldn't have taken much time in that entire month to do the things he did for Fan Fest. It amazes me sometimes how he manages to be one of the best developers KK game wise but also be the shittiest one as a person at the same time... (Like yeah I get medical stuff is important, but dude if you were going to have these appointments, maybe don't do a shit fucking Fan Fest nobody wanted in the first place...?)

The first few days of May are literally the only time I am home until like August. And I really had been looking forward to it, probably the main reason being that I could play the new LiL update and now I find out it is delayed all the way to around when I'm leaving again.
It's all so tiresome.

I can't be for sure since I never cared much at the time, but wasn't it mostly up to the higher paying tiers if this Fan Fest would happen? And if so a majority didn't even have a say and would have probably preferred something like... oh I don't know actual fucking content? I don't care at all for what you have to say honestly. And I didn't say he isn't allowed to go to the doctor, I get that's important so that's fine, but this year is all around seemingly lacking of actual content

No, all paying tiers could vote. I remember because I could vote and I'm only paying for the basic tier. (I was vastly outnumbered.)
You are absolutely free to complain and I won't try to take that away from you. After all this forum sometimes acts like a refuge from the anti-criticism tendencies of the official discord. That being said, we got some surprisingly good stuff from Fanfest all things considered. In my eyes if he needs a break to be able to focus on his writing 100% then I'm okay with it even if it a bit disappointing. It's better than him burning out and never finishing the story at least.

Although I share the frustration of having a month of FanFest, a minor delay for the next release, and the incoming break - I have always said that this is a place where we can both criticize and praise Selebus. And, this time, I don't share the overly judgemental view on him.
Did I want the FanFest? Certainly not. But he has been writing LiL for what? 5 years? He wanted to spend an entire month goofing off with his own creation, he asked the people that pay him, and they gave him the "go for it". So, I mean, nothing wrong there. For the medical stuff, well, that's just ludicrous - medical stuff happens. You're fine one day, the next you have an accident and boom, can't work for weeks/months. And the breaks themselves are planned.
I will say though that I agree that the timing is off. Were the Fanfest to become a thing, it would ideally be in the middle of the release cycle, not right before a break. (Fanfest -> seasonal content -> break) is an awful plan.

I'd have preferred him take an actual break then if that's what he needs, I just don't see the point in stuff that doesn't really affect the actual story what so ever, that's my main issue with it.
edit: I never said he isn't allowed to go to his appointments or anything and I'm perfectly fine with the delay for that, because then there wouldn't be more if something actually happened to him. I just don't think this year has been the greatest content amount wise if you get what I mean, so that's why I'm a bit more judgmental with all the random stuff, then delay, and then break right after it all. He can have all the breaks he wants I'm not against that I want to make that clear, especially if it concerns his health and desire to continue the game. But just as much as he is allowed that, I am allowed to feel a bit upset at the lack of content this year.

which kind of did imply you weren't fine with the delay for that and felt their was some mismanagement on his end so I think that's why people have responded pointing to that part specifically lol he probably didn't know he'd have medical appointments when he decided to do the fanfest.

The FanFest wasn't about abreak. It was about celebrating 5 years of the game. Which is a perfectly reasonable thing to want to do (especially because this game being successful allowed him to quit his day job). I get it that you don't care for the content he made in that time (I don't either), but that's literally what the people paying his mortgage told him they wanted.
And he put out content every day, didn't he (honest question, I didn't pay attention to it)? That's still work. Even if I hate the content, he's still putting it out.
And as someone who isn't paying him a dime, I don't feel that it's worth having the energy to be bitter about it. I have a finite number of hours left on this earth, I can't be bothered to be angry about a delay in a game I'm not paying for. Especially when there are much more important things going on right now that I can spend my outrage on.

I haven't gone out of my way to check much of the previews, but it seems this Dorm War might actually be decent... what between the seemingly one on one Io time, and the fact Rin is peak hotness again, I'll give it just a slight chance to not piss me off this time, atrX didn't at all deserve the slander that was very obviously forced into the last Dorm War.
