Some thoughts now after letting the latest update stew and mold in my brain. I've been here since November as a constant lurker and playing this game and for the most part, a lot of things that happen in the game go over my head or I just completely miss it which is why I've left this window open with this forum as I like reading other's thoughts and theories about what's going on and understanding things I missed or didn't understand and for the most part nothing has really phased me or turned me off from the game (Even Stomachache didn't actually trouble me beyond a moment as it more felt off narratively to me and made no sense to my brain from the previous events and scenes, like how some have described the Yuki event that happened this patch which is actually what's prompted this post for me) This has been the first time since I started this game where I actually felt troubled and the event bothering me every now and then when my mind is blank/randomly thinking of stuff. Some say the event didn't fit the story, I kind of disagree, but I do 100% agree it went too far and went way too dark. Depending on the next few updates if there isn't a real satisfying conclusion to what happened to Yuki, if Sel decides to just pile on a bit more darkness or allow the Yakuza to go unpunished, I think I will have to put the game down, close this tab and wait until this game is nearer to completion before returning.

Needed to vent I think to let some of those negative feels out and flow off into the aether.

I think it WILL get worse. Nao warned you, and even though short, we're still in the "Harem" part of the game, the "Dark" part is still a couple of years away. Though, seeing your description of Stomachache, it'll depend on your own worldview, since I think it's going to be more scenes like that one and the Karin thing probably taken to its actual conclusion.

Eh, I know. It ain't gonna be some dark edgy thing, but even so, I wonder how "icky" it'll get or if it's gonna be more of an introspective thing (Sel, if you make the fucking dark route the Evangelion 25-26 of LiL, I swear to fucking god).
It's just that, all things considered, I don't think this has reached the levels of tacky uncomfyness of other edgy stuff, dunno how to express it.

I think it's the fearest fear that you just bring up to me. Because, for me, «dark», in a game where the story is already kinda «dark» (we have rape, misery, abuse, etc...), have to be worse. Much more worse.

I mean, as a forensic doctor, the darkness of that game, I see the result of that on a «daily» basis, so I'm kinda accustomed and need «more».

So instead of Chapter 5 or 6 ( I can't remember which one it is) being a depressing, rape fest. It's whoever is apart of the RFTAS at the time, trying to figure out what's going on in this new situation they're in. Hence the name "dark" route. Like left in the dark.

I'd like to imagine that reset would never occur in the Dark Route, so Sensei would be stuck with RAS girls. But at the same time, I understand that Sel wouldn't leave all the other characters behind.
Edit: but also it would be pretty interesting if Sensei will disappear for a whole chapter and only RAS girls will remember him, while Ami will go nuts. Therefore DaRk RoUtE.

I still have my theory that dark route will be Chapter 1, but with the RAS, New Maya, and current Ami. That's certain to go well.

Given the Yuki/Tsubasa reveal and their upcoming events, I thought it would be useful to go over what we know about their respective pasts. The short version: the two of them aren't related and almost certainly first met when they were high school age (though they didn't go to school together).

On a related subject, an existing relationship between Yuki and Tsubasa gives new meaning to something from Chapter 3: Tsubasa reacted with surprise when she learned that Yumi is a Yamaguchi.

She probably realized at that point that Yumi is Yuki's daughter. She almost certainly knew at least something about Yuki's relationship with the Yakuza, given she very conveniently shows up at the Yamaguchi estate at the right time and calls Yuki "The Dragon".

To me, "a new set of rules" means resets have stopped, and you'd prove this by killing one of the main characters. Since Makoto is the only one known to have attempted suicide, and is currently in a careless mindset due to her knowledge of resets, she'd be the one to show they're wrong about resets being stopped by attempting it again and then it works this time.

In the past I'd have said a plot like that would have to wait until Akira learns how to slip at will, but the writing lately feels like anything close to that isn't gonna happen. God I need this beach update to come out and stop the doomposting.

I've also made the cheap joke that the sun turns off, but that's probably too stupid of a joke so close to the idea of death being real again.

I personally think the resets aren't going to end until the True Ending. My headcanon for the Dark Route is Himawari fucks something up trying to "save the world" and the RFTAS is trying to figure out how to fix Himawari's mess.

Yeah i agree. I think Himawari sharing plans with Tsubasa is probably one of the foundations of "Dark Route"

Buddy, i'm going to level with you, if you don't even know how to make your browser download a text file instead of just opening it in a new tab, the DRM is going to fuck you over... it just will, you're not knowledgeable enough to protect yourself... so don't be an idiot, just open the downloads up without installing them and look at the files outside of renpy if you really, desperately, must look at them...
