while sexual assault and statutory rape is most definitely a main stay of this game, I don't think rape had actually (on screen) happened if I remember correctly. Io is probably the worse case and in contention with this but none was actually shown.

Unadulterated rape, no it hasn't happened. Even Yuki's gang rape is muddied since the gangsters were ordered to do it, and the one who ordered it never partook. We don't know if refusal would have lead to their deaths. Io was closer to raping Akira since she brought it up (It was a sacrifice so he wouldn't go after Uta in Io's mind, since she didn't know Uta liked him enough to forgive the photos, this is cleared up at ch4 1st beach), dared him to do it, and wasn't the one who suffered during or afterward. Akira just wasn't a responsible adult on green path.

If we take foreshadowing into account (Which we probably shouldn't as of 0.50) then Chapter 4 has to end with Akira raping someone. It's what he was told to do in the latter half of chapter 3 or he'd lose everything. It's what Pareidolia tried making him do to Karin after he reached a breaking point and was willing to do anything to get Maya back, and the instructions of the gods hasn't changed since then. I've even previously posted why I think it's going to be Otoha he rapes, but who knows right now.

That's the thing he didn't consciously choose to do it. I think a possibly premeditated rape where he has no defense for it, besides a completely selfish "I want Maya back and the gods told me they'll bring her back if I do" is going to happen before the end of Ch4.

I should have been more clear that it was specifically the non-protagonist rape part. I didn't have an issue with Akira's actions because they were within my expectations, based on the existing tags and description, since the start of the game.

This and your previous comment are my thoughts exactly.

We knew Akira was a rapist, but there were no signs that other male characters were going to appear and start raping the LIs as well. Not only is this a point of contention, but I can almost guarantee if people knew ahead of time this was going to happen, the ratings would look a lot different. That might not mean much, but generally people tend to avoid games like this no matter how good the narrative is.

It's just not something most people are willing to read.

It's not like the game is gonna be finished by the time you're through, there is a good few years of development yet, you can just start and go at your own pace, it's a good read and you will get it better than a summary can express.

Well, "dying" is an overstatement. Maya Prime was moved and is currently being held in a parallel dimension that we've taken to calling "the replica of heaven". We get to know this through Noriko's TSS, and Maya Prime is currently accompanied by AmIOkay, which is one of the Maya-like entities.

Akira realizes he loves Maya in a series of events, but if I had to pinpoint a single moment it was during the "I will deliver you to the fireflies" chain.

In the event itself he declares that he loves her, but I mention the chain because it's related to how he comes to this conclusion. First, he's confronted with the memories of Sekai, then of his own name, and is being assaulted by Sekai's memories while Noriko is about to lose her virginity with him. It's then that Maya sends him a message, and that's (imo) when he realises it.

He was losing himself into the memories of Sekai and because of the gods manipulations, and managed to wrestle free of all of them by confronting them directly after Maya contacts him, by declaring they have no place in his life anymore and that only she (Maya) does. He then starts the event by stating that she makes him feel normal again.

Give or take a year, the game should end or be almost ending the update after 0.99.0. And that's the lowest estimate. So that's at least 5 more years.

I'll start by saying that I don't know how to interpret Akira's outburst with Noriko. On one hand, I think it's pretty sweet that he told her something no one else knows.
But on the other hand, it seems manipulative.
Basically, when she started to believe she wasn't that important to him, he decided to reveal something similar in order to make her believe she was.
He definitely has feelings for her (as he does for all the girls in this game), but to me, it still feels a bit manipulative.
