Maybe I'll be back to talk in depth about the update, but for now I'd just like to comment a bit on a problem I've been having:

I'm not saying this kills the story, it's not like I'm rolling my eyes at the screen... but this specific part of the plot is also not doing it for me. I can't get really invested with a "problem" that isn't a problem at all from the lack of any actual possible consequences.

Maki will be away for a while, and that's really all that could have possibly happened. Does anyone care? Akira clearly doesn't and neither do I.

Apparently Maya and Sel share the same birthday. Chalk up another for the Maya fans. If you want to bone Maya you're wanting to bone Sel by proxy.
That's already the case for everyone in the game, even Akina Ando and Osako.

Is this one of the few times Sensei references the SFW version?
Yasu's airplane noises are definitely huggy, American Movie Star Seth Rogen actually wasn't until Fanfest's Huggy Boy Chronicles. (First mention of Seth Rogen was during Ch2, which was huggified)

Head pats: I think it will be Noriko and Kaori. I think we will be able to invite Noriko over soon with a animation for 56 and the headpat for 57. Or the animation could be the dorm. Ahh who knows!?
Unfortunately I doubt it. While Noriko might get away with not needing a specific invite event to unlock her invites since she's already had some, players are still gonna need some prompting that she'll accept invite calls now, it's been several cycles since them.

Why do I, or we, like Osako so much more now but find those other two so boring?
Is it only because she is supporting of him now? Or because she is cute now? Are we all that shallow?
Because she was pretty shallow for the longest time. She existed mainly in other people's events until chapter 4 (two events in ch2, two events in ch3, seven events so far in ch4)

Who is narrating these? We know it cant be Himawari now, and that's reinforced by the masturbation talk. We don't know Shiori, but I don't think its her.
We know it's multiple people, this update even has an example of it being Sensei in the flesh doing it, rather than a postscript Sensei narrating after the experience
What's with this day 1 URM option? Just curious
Sel copy pasted the day advancing code instead of advancing the day between events and letting the normal code handle it.

So? None of this matters. What are you going to do? go to the police? Hah, good luck with that. Kill him? Kill yourself? There's absolutely no stakes whatsoever in all of this discussion.
No stakes for people looking for an actual change to the situation, but the point is Maki suffering, and in that regard there's plenty left to happen. Maki doesn't want Makoto to be hurt, not realising that succeeding in cutting Sensei off from her would only hurt Makoto so much more than Sensei ever could.

Maki is in the same boat Niki and Karin were in. I don't know why, but the girls in LiL need to suffer for some reason, and it feels like more than just so they have an arc each. Even if Maki can't actually kill herself, her attempt would have her suffer like the world wants her to. It would further Makoto's plot because she's really reckless right now. If she can break down over Maki's suffering maybe she doesnt need to die at the start of the dark route.

Yeah, it's hard to justify her (lack of) actions. As far as consequences go (or, again, lack of) it pretty much mirrors Niki after her whole "being NTR'd by my sister" thing in terms of consequences and it's already looking like both are headed the same way. We've already seen Sara allow herself to be gaslit into acceptance too so it's easy to imagine things winding up similarly for Maki.

I don't follow the same train of thought some seem to here that 'no death = no consequence' so I haven't felt that a lack of consequence has been too big an issue of the story so far but yeah, there needs to at least be some logical reason why she would decide not to take action.

What I'm saying is: I wish it was better addressed from Maki's POV why she won't do anything else.
Because Maki has very little confidence in her decision-making, both generally and especially in regards to Makoto, and the moment she tried to do anything, everyone started gaslighting her that she is the one in the wrong and everything is actually fine. Going to police or something and blowing up the whole thing along with her relations network is the kind of a big step she obviously won't take right now.

I think that's basically it, she's entirely insecure about her ability to make the right decisions, she has no faith in herself to do so, Makoto ripped right into her and her 'friends' all gave her the 'huh?' look... she said it herself at the table, there's two reactions she expected to have, and her complete lack of faith in herself and what the right thing to do meant she went with the second, cause the first has been emotionally beaten out of her... i think it's not exactly a tight excuse for Selly to write, but i do think that's what he's going for, so anyone who disagrees with it can chalk it up to bad writing rather than in-universe bullshit.

This follows the trend from Stomachache itself (+10 instead of -10 for red path) and the halloween chat after stomachache (+50 instead of +1 for red path)

This realistically has been the most interesting red path choice in the game (I think technically Ami has more things happen by not fingering her, but outside of that fantastic jar scene it's still Ami making snide jabs rather than a well thought out different perspective).

I fell asleep before being able to post the transcriptions. I also raised the pitch a little until it sounded like it had the least distortion. You also forgot a bunch of the last message, I have edited it in my quote.
Damn, you beat me to it

Holy hell another good update, we got a streak goin. Banger after banger event. Rika and Maki easy stars, with Maki's confrontations being everything you could have hoped for. Not much in the way of main plot advancement, but we get a ton of character drama.

All in all it wasn't up to the level of 53 but I'd say a good 8.5/10. I really enjoyed it, starting off with the funny before hitting with the feels later.

I think we're all heading in the same direction here, but potentially downplaying how the consequences of her going to the police in her mind:

Her daughters, and her best(and only) friends are ALL fucking Akira. So is she.

She already knows she is on a thin rope with Makoto, considering how harsh Makoto is/can be.

From her POV, taking any direct action against Akira is likely to destroy her own life and the lives of basically everyone she loves.

Now, a GOOD person would say fuck the consequences and do it anyway. Morally right decision, and all that...

But Maki, while good intentioned...is not emotionally smart enough to handle that kind of fallout. It is unlucky for her that she gets no moral support, being that one friend is a predator(and the worst kind at that), the other a mother so desperate for her child to love her that she'd share her with a much, much older man. That her daughter is significantly smarter than she is, and in love with the town Super Predator.

If even one of her friends were normal, she'd have been able to do more in this situation than fall apart, and fall back to old habits. Keep in mind how often she said she is useless without her husband! How he did all the difficult things, and she needed him for those.

He's dead, so what do we see her do? Retreat, and hope things can be fixed without her needing to get her own hands dirty to protect herself.

ALSO, I haven't seen anyone mention it yet...but it's obviously Maki in the video, right? Older series that preyed on younger girls(who in turn lie about their age to perform). Exact clone of Makoto? Always performing with multiple guys?

It's literally describing Maki's sexual proclivities, the same kinds that Makoto talks about Maki doing later in life.

Maki also seemed to know A LOT about the fallout behind the scenes of the porn series.
