That line of dialogue was not about a femboy but a trans-girl. Also, they're standalone Christmas events that usually don't appear in the game. Not that it matters much.
The first scene you're talking about is written from my personal experience over my game development journey. I've always try to remain as neutral and helpful as I can while also trying to be professional in my responses.
Maybe you see the topic of NTR differently which is all fine but let me explain a couple of things from my point of view. I'd reckon most people possibly won't understand or notice as they're simply someone passing by.
This following is a general kind of message not fully directed at you.
This game was made for fun over 3.5 years ago (4 years in total). Ever since then I've had the pleasure of dealing with a loads of different people including the anti-ntr squad.
They are unhinged, and can go quite far to the point of harassment. There are
hundreds of comments in this thread alone about NTR despite it being
optional. Not counting quite some stuff that has been removed by the mods.
I've had to deal with plenty of one star "Eww NTR" reviews on many occasions, all by people who haven't played the game but just saw a tag. Then there's plenty of comments to deal with comments like: "gay game", "shit game", "game for faggot retards", "cuck this, cuck that", "hang yourself" and plenty of other comments of similar nature.
I also have to mention that the toxicity thankfully got a lot less over time, I'm not sure why but maybe that's because we got better and improved a bunch of things in the game. There is still some outdated stuff but that will be resolved as well.
Probably unrelated but lately we're also dealing with helpful feedback wrapped in a nice reviews such as "shitty writing", "waste of bandwidth", "game sucks", "renders suck", "animations suck", "dev is a scammer", "dev is self touting?" and more.
Then you have the people that know everything better and should become devs themselves, plenty of examples of that but just to give a random quote "Just slap a couple of images together and write some dialogue".
Not to forget the players that barely play the game even though it clearly states that it takes a long time to complete and has a story that's made to become more interesting over time. Obviously this all gets fully ignored and has to be followed up with a mandatory "trash game."
Now I understand this is the internet and all, and people can be fairly toxic in general no matter what you do.
Usually most readers won't give it a second thought, the main difference is that it's aimed at your work or even at you so it does become a lot more personal.
It's not fun to read that stuff and one of the issues I have with it is that the negativity surrounding this game is quite high in comparison to other games.
What this does is that it removes part of my joy and motivation, not only in making games but also IRL as it affects my mental health. I don't want to become some spiteful, cranky, jaded dude.
Obviously and very important:
The majority of players do enjoy the game and some are even fans as well which is absolutely amazing. There's also been a lot of help, a lot of good and constructive feedback, bug reports, lots of nice comments and donations which is great to see and helped tremendously.
It's thanks to them that I'm pushing forward and making the game as fun as we can. If it wasn't for that I would have been out of here within the first couple of months.
What some people seem to forget is that this is the first game I ever made with no real prior experience before starting out. The time and energy it costs to make a game like this takes a lot more than a full time job. We're probably nearing the 20.000 hour mark by now.
This is literally a free game made by amateur devs. We're not some major gaming company that screwed players over with an unfinished buggy game that they paid a lot of money for.
Sometimes I wonder why I am even doing this because I could be doing a lot of others things that are also fun, gives more free time, is a lot less stressful and won't make me doubt my own sanity.
I already mostly stopped participating on public platforms. When this game is finished I'll probably stop participating as a whole. The new game that we're developing is something where I won't play an active role in the forums and the likes either so I can feel less anxious, more happy, sleep better and just focus on my own life and the fun aspect of it all which includes making games that we think are fun.
I'd reckon this is the same for Xo as he also had plenty of shit thrown at him even though he's been a great addition to LTA in every sense of the word. Despite what some may say, I believe he's a very talented writer, WAY better than I am.
Lastly, the following should speak for itself but it might change the view of a few of readers which is already a win in my book;
Be nice to developers, especially when they're just starting out. Maybe that will result into games getting abandoned less often or maybe they'll grow and make something great later down the road.
In short, developers are people, they don't deserve the hate, even less so if it's just for certain fetishes.
