You went off on a tangent about what developers should expect in terms of support, which I ignored, as it wasn't relevant to my point. To address it: yes, I understand that smaller developers will get less money, and nobody should "expect" to be fully supported by Patreon or any other freelance source. However, a lot of developers do indeed deserve to be supported, due to their hard work and talent shining through in the content they provide, and it's up to us consumers to be that support if we feel such work is deserving of it. Your final point about how a smaller creator will inevitably get less money than a larger one even if their work is just as deserving is all the more reason to help fund them.My point went over your head and thats fine xD Yes the game goes public eventually. No one is entitled to an early leak xD
To look at the option for a $50/month payment option and think the developer is conceited is backward; they understand better than anyone that most people won't be able or willing to pay that, but they also know better than anyone that it's the kind of payment they need if they want their work as a developer to be sustainable, so they put it out there in hopes that maybe someone understands that concept as well, and feels that their work does indeed deserve to be sustained. Sure, they could stick all the rewards in a $5 tier and hope 10x more people sign up, but at the end of the day, the rewards they put in any tier are secondary. Whether it's $5, $50, or $500, don't pay for Patreon to "buy" a product. Only pay to for the sake of directly funding the development work itself.
