i think it's fine to say that ... the game is abbandoned.
naaah don't think so. Fu and DirtySock are REALLY bad making work-planning and they got stucked in their own fantasy of giving this update by this month (i don't think neither that they will reach the roadmap though), but i'm pretty sure that they're working on it
I think that this update will last just a few more days (or even 1 or 2 weeks) but it will be launched... soon?

How can people still be subscriebd to the Patreon? They most have forgot they are subscribed right?
Probably a lot of people like me, who once subscribed for $1 a month and can never be bothered to unsubscribe. I stayed subbed to Summertime Saga for *years* and enjoyed getting emails, I only recently finally took the time to unsub after I realized enough was enough.

The people who are paying $20+ a month or whatever, their value of money is probably different than yours or mine. That's their "I don't care" mark.

Decided to check up on this game and... yep. Still being updated at the same pace it was years ago: a snail's. It's borderline criminal that this dev is making so much money for a game that will get 30 minutes of new content once every half-year or so. They made a "road map" for new content on their Patreon and they can't even follow that. It's pathetic. Yeah, the art is great. I don't care. Do not support this lazy, uninspired garbage; if you're gonna support anyone, support a dev that actually knows what they're doing, how long it's going to take, and gets it fucking done instead of stringing people along for literal years with few updates and a lack of clarity in general.

"30 minutes of content". That could be a slogan for a bunch of devs making porn games just on this site alone. Most indie devs who releases monthly gives you one scene a month, which is buggy as all hell, and 2-3 months of bughunting and then another 2-3 months of bugfixing trying to fix the bugs "the fix" created because the update broke the previous code - oh, and forget about your save; that doesn´t work anymore. Then again, actual game devs who knows what they are doing have a team working on a single project and a working cycle stretching over several years..... Wait, does that mean Dirty Sock Games....? nah, couldn´t be, I must be imagining things......

Game devs that works on porn games discovered a life hack. They can make thousands of dollars a year without doing shit and people will still pay for a product that will never be released. :WeSmart:
Man, T+this is a serious matter that we players and Patreons should be discussing on: how responsible are we for creating lazy and uncommitted developers in our community.
Of course, I must acknowledge that not everyone is like that, and there are still many trustworthy game developers out there. However, becoming a porn developer with a Patreon account is one of the easiest ways to get rich without actually doing shit. You don't even need to be a great coder, artist, or writer. With a smart marketing strategy, you can make thousands of dollars with just a Beta version and keep your audience hooked without releasing a single update for months.
This situation is getting out of hand guys.
And I'm really thinking that a huge part of this is our fault

If it's not you, it'll be some other shmuck who sees one of their fetishes and throws money at the dev. The good devs burn themselves out and the bad/lazy devs are all that are left and they know it so they take advantage of a system where quality is in high demand so they will work just hard enough to not lose any of their whales. The whales are dumb though, because they believe that if they stop funding something they won't ever make any content again, so there is fomo. Also there are those that forget they are subbed to things. I was subbed to multiple mmo games I had stopped playing years ago for example. A hungry dev is a productive dev, when they get fed they get fat and lazy.

I will say on the subject of patreon milking, Life in Woodchester is one of the least sinful of them. Games like Summertime Saga and A Town Uncovered and Innocent Witches, games raking in *bank* and producing very little over multiple years, they're the ones that are borderline criminal ... or at least very unethical.

They are basically donations, after all, technically the devs don't have to do anything, they could retire and keep their patreon up and they'd still get paid and there's nothing to be said.

I don't subscribe when I'm hyped anymore, I'm fucking tired of being swindled. Summertime Saga was one of the projects that stole my money. Dark Cookie is releasing the damn tech update since 2020 and when you see his live streams it gives the ilusion that something will come out of that but it is aways little crumbs, 1 or 2 scenes every 6 months. :HideThePain:

at least summertime saga is putting out trickles of content (however slow they may be) while they work on their "tech update". you're not gonna go 9 months without seeing ANYTHING with them lol
