you have to open the previous message on your mobile phone before you get the message that blocks you. It worked for me, so before the message arrives, click on your mobile phone, select messages, end the previous conversation.

The red X only appears on one of the options. If you choose the "I'll have dinner with you" line with Melody, it's fine. But if you choose the "you're jealous" line, the red X doesn't appear and there's no way to progress. The only thing you can do until it's fixed, I think, is roll back and choose the other option.

I play the PC game version, and both options display the "X" mark at the end of the conversation.
