Those are just a few exceptions, though. I'm from Germany, for example. Here, there are only prison sentences. And here, the prison sentences for tax evasion are definitely higher in proportion to the severity of the crime than if I had killed someone. For example, the maximum sentence for manslaughter is 8 years in prison. But for 700,000 euros in tax evasion, you're looking at at least (emphasis on at least) 7 years in prison. The only exception is if you're a public figure, like Mr. Uli Hoeneß. For me, his case is one of the biggest scandals of this century. If he had appealed back then and his documents had been properly reviewed, he would most likely have received a life sentence. Because there were so many documents that a team of 3 tax auditors would have needed several years to examine them. That's several years for all the documents that Mr. Hoeneß generated in just one year. But he didn't properly declare his taxes for a total of 10 years. That would also have caused a pretty massive political earthquake. But if you regularly have coffee with the Chancellor, then you only get 3 years in prison for something like that. Others go to jail for 7 years for 700,000 euros.
But in the end, I don't want to have this discussion here either. Because it simply doesn't belong here. I only wanted to use this topic to say that it could also be a possible reason why the inventor of this game is no longer responding. Because if I had the choice between standing by the game, but having to go to prison for taxes, or denying the game (and therefore not making any money) but remaining free, I would always choose freedom.
Okay, of course, it also depends on how long I would have to go to prison and how much money would still be left after the prison sentence. But fundamentally, freedom is a higher good for me than money.
